If your table wants to embark on a space-themed quest, that's entirely possible with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons and Dragons' supplement, Spelljammer: Adventures in Space. In it, your party can operate their own Spelljammer vessel (a fantasy-equivalent space-craft) and traverse the Wild Space and beyond, where new treasures lay unclaimed and new dangers await worthy challengers.

Now your mind is racing, and you probably imagine your character(s) operating a particle-beam cannon or jumping through space at hyper-speed. But then you get the stat block for your Space Galleon and see that it's outfitted with a mangonel and ballistas. Although some Spelljammer ships have unique weapons like the Nautiloid's Tentacles or the Tyrant's Destructive Ray, most come with weapons players find atop a castle's ramparts, leaving much to be desired. Thankfully, we can look to the previous supplement, "Ghosts of Saltmarsh," to find some far-superior weapon upgrades so that you can blast your way through a Githyanki fleet in style!

6 🍌 Arcan♐e Artillery

For a simple upgrade that can add a ton of flavor to the rocks your mangonel is slinging, the Arcane Artillery upgrade adds +2 bonuses to attack and damage rolls and counts the attack as 'magical' to overcome resistances. This bonus can be paired down to a +1 or up to a +3, just as the players' magic weapons are, possibly serving as a leveling system for the ships' weapons.

This upgrade requires a skilled spellcaster to imbue this enchantment, which implies that players may need to seek out someone with this ability. Perhaps they stumble upon a grizzled, veteran Spelljammer, whose crew and vessel are long gone, but a noble cause they believe in has yet to die. For players who share this space sailor's common goal, the veteran is happy to share some of their knowledge about a ship's weaponry.

5 💙 Scything Oars

Originally, Scything Oars were meant to replace your water-vessels traditional oars with a magically reinforced, razor-blade equivalent. Anyone in the water within 10 feet of the ship makes a DC 10 Dexterity Save against taking a fair amount of slashing damage, which counters anyone boarding the boat secretly or creates a death pool for your crew to toss enemies into. But with a Spelljammer ship's Gravity Plane, having these blades around your ship adds a new level of offense and danger to fighting overboard and deters vessels that cling onto you like the Lamprey Ships Grappling Jaws.

This type of weapon sounds like the work of a master tinker. Perhaps a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:crew of Autognomes has created this for their ship and, for a price, can build you something similar. Or you can be true space pirates and battle this crew of automatons for their weaponry. It's important to note that many Spelljammers ships can still function in bodies of water, so oars as a form of propulsion don't necessarily need to be flavored to fit the theme.

4 Explosive And C🐭oncussive Rounds

Wanting to keep the use of gunpowder out of your game/story is completely understandable; the presence of firearms may be uncomfortable to your players or may supersede specific equipment's usefulness. These rounds for a ballista are an excellent cannonball alternative, as they utilize either abjuration magic for a concussive debuff or evocation enchantments for an explosive effect.

Explosive Rounds deal additional fire damage, described as unstable energy exploding on impact. The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Giff race would have the capability anꦿd know-๊how to make this type of fire magic work in the vacuum of space. In contrast, Concussive Rounds disorientate the ship's crew, slowing the vessel's speed down until the attacker's next turn starts. Since Spelljammer vessels utilize a person's mental energy to propel the ship forward, this could be something crafted by a psionically-inclined race, serving as a disruptor in the link between the Spelljammer and their Helm.

3 🔥 🌜 Storm Giant Figurehead

Imbue your ship with the power of storms, causing a cone of thunder damage to emit 60 feet in any direction, as long as it originates from the figurehead itself. You can blast this in front of you at a ship escaping or onto the deck of your own ship, utilizing the figurehead's additional knockback feature, similar to the Thunderwave spell. But be warned, this ability does not specify only targeting hostile creatures, which means you and your shipmates are at risk of friendly fire.

Ghosts of Saltmarsh describes this design as a Storm Giant holding a thunderbolt, but figureheads are something you won't see on every ship, as the design of Spelljammer ships isn't always a typical boat layout. Instead, you may describe this as an energy cell emitting arcane power or a rotating cannon fixed at the vessel's bow.

2 ꦏ Scre💞aming Sails

Screaming Sails were the perfect addition to that dreaded ghost ship you just knew was going to pop up at any time as you were hopping from island to island in Saltmarsh, and now they may live again, dealing their terrifying slice of HP off anybody brave enough to face you in combat. Hostile creatures within 300 feet of a vessel with thᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚese sail⛄s make a DC 14 Wisdom Save or take 4d6 psychic damage and become frightened of the ship for a minute.

The captured energy of wraiths and banshees is woven into mundane sails, creating this macabre effect. Still, we face the reoccurring problem of having a conventional ship-based feature (sails) on an unconventional ship-type (mentall🧸y-propelled spaceship.) Instead, this enchantment could be replaced with a curse placed on a preexisting Spelljammer Helm the players find. Perhaps the crew that the Helm once belonged to suffered a horrific fate, and their lasting anguish has cursed the only surviving part of their ship.

1 Red Dragon Figurehead♏

The front of your ship is now an actual flamethrower that can be fired in any direction, creating a 60-foot cone of fire and causing anyone or anything within it to succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity Save. It recharges after a minute, so you likely only got one shot of this in combat, but it's quite the display of might and magic.

As previously mentioned, figureheads are tough to fit onto some Spelljammer vessels. Still, this one is easily exchanged for a cannon-like weapon similar to the historical Greek Fire that was chiefly utilized by the Byzantine navy. However, lore-wise, the Githyanki are known for their close b꧙ond with Red Dragons and often take to the skies on the back of them. With that in mind, perhaps the Gith have discovered a way to harness some Red Dragons' energy to recreate the fire-breath effect, even in the vacuum of Wild Space, where dragon riding isn't an option.
