Though the allosaurus is a challenge rating two monster, the addition of its animatronic form brings this big boss a whopping two damage immunities and four condition immunities. This monster gets added because of the unique circumstances in which it's encountered. If you fail the heist in the Murkmire Malevolence, you'll miss out on retrieving the very dangerous egg that will eventually hatch. Your success or failure directly determines whether you'll get to encounter the eldritch horror hatchling. An eight-foot-long terror, it's up to the party to stop its rampage.
This terror slowly eats the guards and destroys the museum, as it eventually grows into the size of a pony. If it still isn't stopped, it becomes the juvenile eldritch horror, now grown to immense proportions. It's a highly intelligent creature that can freely cast blindness/deafness on the party, create illusory copies of itself, and rampage through the museum and toward the nearby university, destroying everything in its path. It's such a cool monster and a gigantic danger that organically grows from challenging rating two to challenge rating 11.
8 ♛ ⭕ Minotaur Skeleton
You probably weren't expecting the skeleton of a minotaur to be in a forty-foot-deep vault surrounded by treasure chests. You probably also didn't expect this minotaur skeleton to be named Virgil. This large, evil, undead creature has an impressive +6 to hit, making it that much easier to really knock into any character in this second-level adventure.
He's got a dangerous charge-and-gore combo attack that deals extra piercing damage, pushing you away and knocking you prone in the process. Your only saving grace is his vulnerability to bludgeoning damage.
7 🐎 Crawling Claw
These monsters are the most underrated in Keys from the Golden Vault. Their abilities alone create a great dynamic for them to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:thrive in an adventure about stealth. Sure, they're very weak, with only two hit points and an armor class of 12; however, their utility can make them a unique monster perfect for swarming an unsuspecting heist crew.
With immunity to the go-to for stealth users, poison, and blindsight, so they don't need to rely on vision to find the party, a swarm of tiny bludgeoning and slashing crawling claw's can quickly become dangerous. Add the fact that they're undead who are immune to turn undead effects, and they're a pesky enemy that can easily thwart and overwhelm a party who underestimated them. One may not be much, but a swarm of these enemies can prove fatal.
6 ꦑ Gibberiಌng Mouther
Status conditions are the name of the game when it comes to this monster, and they've got plenty of inconvenient ailments to dish out. The ground around it is difficult terrain, but instead of having your movement, if you fail, it takes your movement to zero, stuck in its doughlike residue. Once this mother babbles, a random effect based on dice rolls will happen to you and your friends, including removing your ability to make an action or bonus action, and even having you potentially attack your friends.
With spit that can blind you, a bite that knocks you prone and absorbs you into the mother upon your death, and multiattack allowing it to do both in one turn, watch your step and be on your guard when you encounter this monster in the adventure. It's CR (challenge rating) may only be two, but it can quickly threaten the entire party.
5 Oni
As a monster wearing chain mail, an oni will already be harder to hit than average. Couple that with its polymorph ability, and you'll be caught off guard by this dangerous monster type more often than not. In Keys from the Golden Vault, the Oni keeps to himself for the most part, primarily feeding on anyone sleeping outside the city, using his invisibility to do so sight unseen.
With high hit points, a high AC, flight, and innate spellcasting that includes invisibility, darkness, and charm person – all useful at escaping or subterfuge– the oni is already a threat to come upon in any adventure. This monster constantly regenerates its health at the start of each turn, making two attacks, and its weapon attacks are magical. It's best to avoid encountering these monsters and be nice to strangers; you never know who is secretly an oni in disguise.
4 Nothic
Imagine encountering a person that had turned into a one-eyed evil aberration. That's exactly what you'll encounter in Reach for the Stars. This third-level adventure will put you up against the terrifying nothic. The gaze from their giant singular eye is known to rot the flesh off of anyone unfortunate enough to suffer under it. It also just looks terrifying.
With decent natural armor and health, this enemy can challenge a party at this level. With multiattack and the potential for a decent chunk of necrotic damage on a failed save, this monster is one to watch with both eyes. The nothic can learn a single fact about its opponent, so here's hoping you don't give away all your trade secrets and weaknesses under its terrifying gaze.
3 🅷 Invisible Stalker 🔯
Your party isn't the only one who can stalk and track down what they want. The invisible stalker proves how terrifying it can be to go from predator to prey. This monster can be extremely dangerous for a number of reasons. The invisible stalker is, you guessed it... invisible. Invisibility gives it advantage on attack rolls and imposes disadvantage on you when trying to attack it, along with it just not being able to be seen. It's faultless tracker ability allows it to know the direction and distance of its quarry, so you can't even hide from this elemental monster.
It's got multiattack, meaning its slam ability is done twice and can do a decent amount of damage. It's resistant to every physical (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing) damage that isn't magical, immune to almost every condition, and has a flight speed for hovering and a +10 to stealth, just in case. It may be a simple monster but encounter one of these in this adventure, and your fate may very well be sealed.
2 💝 Gra﷽y Slaad
A great way to trip up a heist crew is to do what they do, blend in, and disguise yourself however you need to get the job done. This gray salad from the Affair on the Concordant Express creates such an impactful addition to the adventure and a downright difficult challenge; it's definitely one of the best creatures in the Golden Vault. This enemy is ready to fight to the death, but not everything is as it seems here. There's some fun behind-the-scenes work regarding this monster, and uncovering that is half the fun of its inclusion.
As far as its stats go, this enemy can regenerate hit points, has magical weapon attacks, multiattack with a +7 to h🌠it, and some really great spells that can be cast innately. From fireball, invisibility, detect thoughts and plane shift, you're in for a serious fight when you come upon this monster in the adventure. That's all before taking into account its damage resistances.
