The Nine Hells is one of the classic outer realms for high-level 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons adventures. The realm's inherent danger and the society's variety and complexity make for deadly combat and memorable social encounters.
Descent into the Avernus is one of the most popular D&D modules that takes players to the city of Baldur's Gate, and eventually into the first layer of Hell. But if you want to design your own ♉advent𒆙ures in the plane, or tweak existing publications to 🍒suit your campaign, you need to know more about the Nine Hells.
7 🍬Choosing A Layer
As the name suggests, the Nine Hells consist of nine different layers, each with its own unique properties and dangers for y🔥our ♏players to face.
When preparing ▨for an adventure in Hell, the first step should be to choose which layers suit your story best. Unless you start your♒ adventure on a certain layer of Hell, teleportation from other realms is only possible in the first layer, Avernus, and your characters have to find their way into the deeper layers of Hell as part of their journey.
There are many onli💜ne and published sources that describe each layer of Hell in detail. From the war landscape of Avernus under the rule of the fallen angel Zariel, to the land of extremes, Nessus, under the rule of Archdevil Asmodeus himself, there are a variety of settings and themes that can be explored and expanded upon in the nine layers of Hell.
6 ꧃ ꦦ The Landscape
The Nine Hells are the place where damned souls are sent to suffer for eternity. It's a dark and dangerous place for mortals to explore, and the landscape and the environment should reflect this horrifying experience.
Your descriptions as a DM, especially early in the adventure, can help set the tone for the journey that your players are going to have. Jagged and intimidating structures, the unbearable heat or cold, the barren and lifeless landscape, and the aggressive denizens of the Hells꧟ can be great examples of the bleakness that is the Nine Hells.
5 ꧙ The Society ꦆ
The Nine Hells are the home to devils and the ultimate form of a lawful evil society. The devils have a very rigid hierarchy and every action has an ultimate purpose. Each devil strives to rise up in this hierarchy by any means necessary while respecting the law and the authority of their higher-ups. While the devils might not be welcoming to the mortal adventurers, they also won't attack them on sight unless they have a reason to do so.
This structure can create very interesting social interactions in the Nine Hells. The denizens of the plane are certainly evil creatures, but at the same time, they each have goals that they are working towards. Simply fighting the party won't achieve anything, using and manipulating them toward their own selfish goals will be a better use of their time.
4 Notable Locations ✤ ও
Each layer of the Nine Hells is a vast realm fulꦕl of deadly encounters, but there a♍re certain locations in each layer that can be the focus of your adventure. The wastelands of the Blood Wars in the Avernus are where countless battles took place between the devils of the Hells and the demons of the abyss.
The city of Dis, and the Iron Tower, the seat of Archdevil Dispater, is a huge city in the second layer of Hell. The Jangling Hiter, or the City of Chains, is the city of torture and madness hanging above the poisonous swamps of the t🔥hird layer of Hell, Minauros.
The city of Tantlin, built next to the river Styx, was a trade center in the fourth layer of Hell, the frozen sea of Stygia. Malagard is the sprawling metropolis in the s൲eventh layer of Hell, Maladomini, where numerous black towers are connected by a web of bridges and walkways.
Nargus, the gargantuan moving Glac🦩ier under the control of Mephistopheles, the lord of the eighth Hell, on top of which was his icy fortress. And finally, Malsheem, the Citadel of Hell, the seat of l🙈ord Asmodeus, the largest and the most dangerous place that any mortal can find themselves in.
3 Contracts
Due to their lawful nature, devils deal in contracts, and they stick by them. They know fꩵar too well how to offer tempting and manipulative deals to mortals that seem harmless at first, but can easily persuade those who are not strong of will to succumb to the temptation and give up their souls to achieve their goal.
Make sure that the characters are aware of the dangers of signing a contract in the Nine Hells, then do your best to convince them into a deal that might not be ultimately in their favor. Negotiating deals with the devils can be a great social interaction, and you can easily provide your players with physical copies of the contracts that they finally sign to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:immerse them in the experience.
2 The Way Out 🌳
Getting out of the Nine Hells is not an easy task without high-level magic, and if your party doesn't have access to such spells, securing a way out can be a crucial part of the adventure. Based on the task that they want to accomplish while in the Nine Hells, it's likely that after their success the devils will not give them the leniency that they first had, and they need to escape the Hells in a rush.
This can create a very exciting and dangerous final session for your adventure. Running through the dangers of Hell to find their way out, o🍃r protecting one character with a spell scroll unt𝔍il they are able to cast a teleportation spell, or hiding and speaking to devils to sign a contract that will give them a way out, are some of the ways that you can conclude your adventure into the Nine Hells.
1 The Ultimate Price𓆏 ꧃
While there are many dangerous creatures in certain parts of the Nine Hells that can be deadly encounters for 💝the characters, while dealing with the devils, death is not the ultimate price a character can pay.
If the characters sign a bad contract, or are captured by the devils and can't escape, they won't be simply killed. The ultimate price in the Nine Hells is the character's soul and their eternal suffering.
This is what🍸 makes an adventure into Hell one of the most dangerous journeys your party will go through. Especially if the adventure is part of a longer campaign and your players are invested in their characters, the tension and stress of this faith will make the experience an꧅ epic and memorable one.
