From bandits to monsters and everything in between, you can bet you'll see some truly outrageous beasts in this 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons bestiary.
Whether you're looking to add some of these monsters to your own adventures or just want to explore what the depths of the Underdark have in store, you won't be disappointed. From above Phandalin and below, here are the best monsters in Phandelver & below: The Shattered Obelisk.
8 🧔 Flesh M𒈔eld
Creepy crawlies truly are the norm here, and the flesh meld is no exception. Its amorphous ability allows it to move into almost any space as long as it's an inch wide. It has magic resistance, blindsight, and can climb on surfaces and ceilings. Imagine a mound of flesh slithering around on the roof without your party even knowing.
Even being in its presence, the aura of death it emits deals necrotic damage, and poisons any creature that fails a Constitution save. Add to this the consume creature bonus action, and you can swallow up any creature, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Large or smaller, wi𒆙th this monster. Hopefully it fails it♈s save to regurgitate your party.
7 Oculorb
This creepy orb has quite a few options when using it. The oculorb comes from the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:minds of beholders, being dreamt into existence due to their proximity to the far realms. These creatures are just balls of negative emotion, as they represent all of the worst of a beholder in a corporeal form. Even beholders can't stand them.
With its Watchful Eyes ability, this creature can never be caught surprised and gets advantage on initiative rolls. The choice comes in with its attacks, as you can choose its Dreadful Contact attack that does psychic damage or four of its eye beam attacks. Don't forget that these creatures have the ability to use an Antipathic Flood attack, dealing damage and status conditions to your players as the oculorb spreads its waves of despair.
6 ♔ Intellect Snare
One of the coolest designed aberrations in Phandelver & Below, this horror from the Far Realm feasts ಞon leftovers after a mind flayer attack. Created from the wayward thoughts of those in the Far Realm, intellect snares become tentacle-laden aberrations that suck the thought completely out of their victims, leaving a broken and tattered mind behind.
With the expected resistance to spells and magical damage, the true stand out with an intellect snare is its multiattack tentacles. It deals force damage and then grapples you on a failed save. The siphon thoughts bonus action then allows it to steal its victims thoughts, dealing psychic damage and healing itself for the damage taken. Even being within 30 feet of this thing forces you to make a Wisdom saving throw or be incapacitated. While it's not the strongest monster, it's one of the best for roleplay and storytelling.
5 Aberrant Zealo♓t ꧑
Don't let your wizards and casters be the only ones teleporting around the area, throw an aberrant zealot at your party to cause true chaos to ensue. Like the flesh meld, this aberration can move between an one-inch narrow space, making it deadly if it can get the drop on your party. Any non-aberration creature that starts its turn near it has to make a Wisdom saving throw or just outright take psychic damage.
This aberration has multiattack and deals additional psyc🦩hic damage (noticing a trend here), but the stand out is its Void Warp bonus action. When it teleports, it leaves a void behind. Any creature who fails a save is sucked to the closest place next to the void, and they take force damage as the zealot teleports up to 120 feet away.
4 Fiendish Auger ꦗ
One of the more memorable enemies from Phandelver & Below is definitely the fiendish auger. An excavation drill fueled by an evil spirit, it's bathed in bright hellfire and fueled by wicked spirits and can cut through earth and creatures with ease. While it does extra damage to objects and structures, it can be an interesting enemy for your party if you so choose.
The fiendish auger can ജburrow, creating interesting opportunities for attacks against your party which may be caught off guard. The flaming drill does piercing and fire damage, and piercing damage if it can hit you after traveling a 20-foot straight line. The Burst of Heat bonus action spreads fire around corners and in a 30-foot radius from the auger, burning everything that fails a Constitution saving throw. Whether you use it for excavating or as an enemy is up to you.
3 Encepಌhalon Cluster
The Shattered Obelisk is all about mutation and transformation. It's no surprise, then, to see the encephalon on this list. Dangerous to almost all creatures, these egg sacs aren't controlled by mind flayers, and have a mind of their own. Their only purpose is to multiply, and they can overrun a mind flayer colony if left unchecked. Against your players, they're just as overwhelming and menacing.
With a multiattack (slam) and psychic damage (which most creatures are not immune to), when you drop a target to zero hit points, the cluster consumes them. It can also spawn its own progeny to overwhelm your players. You can scare your players by using the cluster's reaction, where it runs towards whatever creature hits it. Overwhelming and consuming is their purpose, and they're good at it.
2 Cloaker Mutate ♎
What happens when a cloacker melds with its last meal due to the energy of the Far Realm? You get a cloacker mutate, a hideous creature that uses the dead corpse melded to it to keep from getting hit by attacks. It can use its Avoidance ability to take half damage on a failed saving throw and no damage on a successful one. The Corpse Swipe attack can not only poison you, but it'll stop you from regaining hit points.
Use the Phantasmal Duplicates bonus action to create illusory copies of the cloaker muta🧸te, giving everyone disadvantage when attacking it as the copies mask its true location. Its Psychic Moan deals psychic damage and can leave anyone who hears it within 60-feet frightened. It can be creepy and killer and great for an atmospheric battle near the Far Realms.
1 🌳 Humanoid Mutate
To really bring the atmosphere of the Far Realms to your game, throw a humanoid mutate at your party. These creatures undergo similar mutations as the cloaker mutate, sometimes sprouting webbed wings, getting clammy skin, and mutating and deforming into disgusting versions of what was once a humanoid. Some of them can retain their personalities before the transformation, while others actively seek it out. There's still a chance to find a magical intervention to return to their previous form.
Great for roleplaying, these creatures can be familiar to your party as NPCs who have been corrupted, bringing a moral dilemma of whether to attack them or not. If they do, they'll have to deal with a Nightmare Blast that deals psychic damage and frightens on a failed save. They also have a Defensive Flight reaction, allowing them 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to fly away without provoking an attack of opportunity.
