Masters of the Arcane arts, Wizards are one of the most powerful classes in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons, even though they may take some time to reach this power. They have access to anꦛ enorꦐmous repertoire of spells and can specialize in one of the many schools of magic, turning them into a force to be reckoned with.
Mechanical details aside, a key part of any character is their backstory. Their origin highly influences their behavior and motivation, making them more interesting to you and your friends. Let's look at some ideas you can use for your Wizard, with concepts you can even mix if it fits your character.
10 Self-Taught 🌼
Depending on the scenario you're playing, there's a good chance you'll have schools where you can learn magic. Wizards are all about learning magic through study, so it makes sense to have places for that. Well, why not just toss that aside?
It can be very empowering to be a character who managed to learn things by themselves. You have your own spell books and sources, you did the work, and now you're here to show it. Just don't get too cocky.
9 🥂 Knowledge Seeker
Not only a good backstory, but also a good reason for you to adventure. You are hungry for knowledge, and there is only so much you can learn through professors and books. It's time to get out there and experience the world ahead of you.
Thus, as you can see, this concept also comes with the character's motivation. And, as mentioned in the beginning, some concepts can be mixed together. That said, this concept works wonderfully with the next one...
8 F🦂orbidden Power
Either from your travels, cursed books, or maybe a not-so-good mentor, you've learned something truly evil. Or, in case the DM doesn't want you to have access to some cursed power right away, you can learn about it and its dangers, making your character compelled to save the world from it.
If you already have this knowledge, your character can be all about keeping it safe, preventing it from being in the wrong hands. If you don't have this power, then your goal would be to find it before ill-intentioned people find it first. Either way, both concepts can work well.
7 The Bad Stude༒nt
Being an underdog is very endearing. Besides, if you are starting a campaign at a low level, this is far more suitable. Your friends may be impressed by the spells you know, but compared to the other Wizards you know a👍nd trained with, your character is not very good.
Perhaps by applying this power in the real world, you can prove to other spellcasters, your mentor, and more importantly, yourself, that you are indeed 🌺a worthy Wizard.
6 ꦦ The Criminal
No, you don't need to be a Rogue to be a criminal. Criminal is a background available to anyone, after all. Regardless, in a world with so much magic in it, people are bound to use that for crimes. And sure, an Arcane Trickster could pull off something similar, but they can't go as far as an actual Wizard.
You can use illusions, trickery, mind control, familiars and summons, or actual intimidation with a prepared Fireball in your hand to get what you want. There is plenty to do with this concept, and it's perfect for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:evil characters.
5 Lost Power ♓ 🃏
Perhaps you've always wanted to start a campaign with an older character, but we usually expect old characters to be high-level. An easy way to address that is by using intelligence and magic to recover your character's might from youth.
They could be a retired warrior who now relies on magic to compensate for their age. They could be a former Warlock that, without their patron, is now just a regular person, studying to recover their magic. Something made them lose what they had, and now they're doing the hard work to get it all back.
4 Noble
If you truly want to embrace the scholar side of a Wizard and annoy your friends, look no further than a Noble. Magic is special, so having access to study it would probably require money. It would also help justify 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:your high intelligence score, making you a fully educated person.
Your character just needs a good reason to leave their comfort zone and adventure. Seeing the world, revenge, more money. It's an easy concept to combine with the other ones from this list too.
3 Soldier
Just like Rogues and Criminals, you don't need to be a Fighter to be a Soldier. Besides, in a world where people can learn all sorts of spells, it's only natural to have a magical infantry in an army. A Soldier that can teleport troops or meteor-swarm city walls is just too much, and that can be done by only one person.
Thus𒉰, a character specialized in weaponizing their spells against all sorts of enemies makes a beautiful concept. A fun concept for a summoner too, where you can lead your creatures like soldiers.
2 Base It On Your School Of Magic 🧜
Wizards have their subclasses based on the many 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:schools of magic that spells have, each focusing on these spells to giv♛e them extra effects. In case you have already decided on your build, you can create a ba✅ckstory that fits the chosen subclass as well. You can use multiple ideas for each subclass, but here is a quick example for each:
- An Abjuration Wizard who lost people they loved and vowed to never let that happen again, thus making them focus on spells that protect people.
- A Conjuration Wizard who summons and creates magical familiars for being too isolated and lonely, having only their creations for company.
- A Divination Wizard who foresaw a horrible future they wish to avoid.
- An Enchantment Wizard who never had any control in their life, and studied the power to control others instead.
- An Evocation Wizard who studies the world itself and its elements - a good fit for a Knowledge Seeker.
- An Illusion Wizard who uses their spells to trick others - a good fit for the aforementioned Criminal.
- A Necromancy Wizard who lost a loved one and study all possible methods of bringing them back.
- A Transmutation Wizard who feels weak as who they are, and now crave the power to physically change themselves
1 𓆉 Student Debt ⛦
Okay, to be fair, this concept is more of a gag than anything. But silly concepts can be fun too, and this can actually be quite intense if done seriously by both you and the DM. Essentially, you've graduated from wizard school, and now you have to pay the loans you used to study there.
Since that requires a lot of money, adventuring is a good way to get it and finally pay your school back. Either that, or you're on the run because you have no way to pay up. Regardless, it's up to you how to handle these debts.
