When you're playing 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons, there's definitely going to be a point where the party is going to be taking a long rest. More often than not, these rests aren't going to be in a comfortable cavern or cosy tavern, but they'll be out in the wild. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Travel will take time and oftentimes a dungeon can't be something to be ransacked in a single night.

So with your party probably getting used to bed rolls and having someone keep watch, it just means that they run the risk of encountering something. Most of the time, they probably won't, however, if you're looking for some fun things to throw at your players during a long rest, then try a couple of these.

10 Spiꩲrits Stop Slumber

You Hear Something on Watch by Zezhou Chen

There's something eerie about having to rest somewhere out in the wild world. Whether it's in the dark recesses of a mine or in a forest far away from civilisation, something about those places can make the shadows warp and the sounds dance in the air. This is an easy way to make everything a lot more tense. The scariest sound of all will of course be the dice you roll behind the DM table when you check for what kind of spirits and how many will show up to haunt your players.

Having spirits show up is a great way to spook the players out a short rest. This will 🗹let you build tension before inevitable combat, and it can be done almost everywhere. Whether in a forest or dungeon, you can claim the ground the party is camping on is haunted.

9 The Invisible Thief 🍷

Imagine this, a player of yours is on watch when they suddenly have to make another Perception check. They may or may not notice how a sleeping character's coin pouch is suddenly floating in the air when it should be with their belongings.

This encounter is simple; an invisible thief thinks a sleeping party is the perfe꧂ct group to rob. After all, adventurers tend to carry a lot of coin. Depending on whether the party notices or not, they may lose a random assortment of gold in the night.

8 💟 Storm Of The Elem𝔍entals

For the long rests that take place in an outside area like a field or forest, this will present an interesting challenge. Just as the party is about to settle down, a storm out of nowhere suddenly erupts, causing a downpo🌊ur that will force the party to come up with a solution to take cover from the elements.

Further investigation reveals two storm lords duelling it out. How the party proceeds and how they find shelter, ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚif any, will be entirely up to them.

7 A Shar🧔ed Nightmare 𝕴

The benefit of this encounter is it can happen almost anywhere, so long as your party is sleeping. During the night, all or most of the party will experience the same shared nightmare. It's best to prepare for this nightmare and make it short and simple, so it can be most effective. Shared nightmares can be anything from a memory of a party member's backstory to an omen about their quest. It's great for setting up intense situations.

6 ♏ When Werewolves🌸 Strike

This꧟ is another encounter that is best to be out in the wilderness, especially if the party is only a day or so away from a town or some sort of civilisation. During the long rest, the party will hear a scream and see a man attacked by savage wolves whose eyes glow red. Further investigation will reveal that the wolves have some magic emanating from them.

But that's not the real problem. If they manage to save the man being attacked by wolves, they will see he has been bitten and scratched, and right now, it's a full moon. The man begs the party not to hurt him as he doubles over in pain, about to transform. The party must now figure out whether to put the werewolf down or find a way to contain it until the man turns back. Let's hope none of them get bitten too.

5 ꦚ Talk About A Bad Field Trip

For something more light-hearted, you can have a wizard, along with a couple of their students, suddenly appear out of a blinding light right in the middle of the party's encampment. Unfortunately, it seems that the wizard was trying to demonstrate a teleportation spell but accidentally ended up teleporting where the party was.

The wizard and students promise not to get in the way as the wizard realises they can't teleport back until a long rest, which means it looks like the teacher and students will have to sleep over. This is a great way to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:introduce some NPCs.

4 Thi𒊎s Changeling Is A Little Lonely 🙈

The party is all sleeping or, for the elves, in a trance. But during a watch, one of them may notice something very odd...there's another person sleeping in the camp. You don't know how they got here or where they came from, but none of the party has seen them before.

This is a changeling, currently disguised, and when woken, they will pretend to have known the party for months, claiming the party recruited them. In actuality, they are lying and are lonely, being a failed adventurer nobody wants to recruit. They snuck into the party hoping that nobody would notice. Clearly, they're not the sharpest sword of the set.

3 ♔ They Came From Space

This encounter can happen anywhere so long as the party is outside during the long rest. In the night, a meteor will come crash landing somewhere nearby, waking them up. If they go over, they wil🗹l see some small fires along with the meteor.

But things grow worse when the meteor cracks open like an egg, and monstrous creatures burst from it, looking to attack the party. This is a good way of introducing any homebrew creatures or perhaps using some 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:monsters from the Astral Plane.

2 A God In Disguise 💟

Druid of the Emerald Grove by Edgar Sánchez Hidalgo

In the lore of Forgotten Realms, the god Bahamut is said to sometimes be disguised as an old man. So why not have a similar approach with a deity? As the party is long resting, if a religious character is in the party, like a Cleric or Paladin, then have their God be disguised as an elderly person who has somehow arrived at the party's camp.

It's even better if the elder figure has somehow made it to a place they shouldn't have, like a dungeon where the party is resting or the Underdark. How the party treats the kind elder who asks for a place to rest will have an impact as it will be revealed they are an avatar of a deity through a note they leave for the party the next day.

1 Cu🍷rse In The Camp 🍎

dnd three magical items and equipment side by side

This is more of a simple encounter and one that doesn't really require the party to fight or speak to any NPC. Instead, during the night, one or more of the party members will be woken up to find a mysterious item where they were once sleeping.

A note will be attached to the item claiming it to be a gift for the party; however, the item will actu꧋ally be cursed. Hopefully, your party checks it before attuning to it.
