If the variant Feat rules are used, then Legolas would benefit from Athlete, Alert, Dual Wielder, Keen Mind, Mobile, Martial Ad🙈ept (Precision Attack & Riposte), or Sharpshooter.
As seen in The Hobbit movies, Legolas was born into nobility, as he is the son of Elven𒊎king Thranduil, making him the prince of Mirkwood. This would usually give Legolas the Noble background (with the Position of Privilege feature relating to wood elves), but the wild nature of Mirkwood means that a player could easily argue for Outlander as the background. Legolas' starting skills would be History, Persuasion, Survival, Acrobatics. His Keen Sense🧸s racial trait would also give him proficiency in Perception. Legolas' gear would include studded leather armor, a longbow, two daggers, and an Explorer's Pack.
Legolas' alignment is easy, as he falls squarely into the Lawful Good category. Legolas did not hesitate to join the Fellowship of the Ring and put his immortal life at risk, in order to thwart Sauron's plans and f✅ree Middle-earth from his rule. The fact that he is initially frosty/unfriendly towards Gimli can be seen as a lawful trait, as he bought into the prejudices shared by his people and had to be won over by actually spending time & fighting alongside a dwarf, whereas a Neutral/Chaotic character might have been more welcoming at the start.
Legolas' play𝔉style is as simple as it gets - he moves a lot and fires arrows into the enemy. This style of DEX-based fighter is extremely useful and is ideal for new players, as it doesn't involve complicated strategies or memorizing how different attacks work. The Legolas playstyle might start to feel a bit samey if used in a long campaign, but he's perfect for people who are trying to learn the ropes of D&D and want to emulate one of their🌄 favorite fantasy movie heroes in a tabletop game.
