Bugbears are a goblinoid known for their stealth capabilities and in the case of player characters, their long-ranged melee attacks granted by their long limbs. In Monsters of the Multiverse, Bugbears have been granted two buffs that help them excel in combat. FIrstly, alongside their fellow goblinoids, goblins and hobgoblins, Bugbears now have the Fey Ancestry trait, meaning they make their saving throws against the charmed condition at advantage. Additionally, while the Bugbear race's Surprise Attack ability once allowed a Bugbear to deal additional damage to a creature it had surprised in combat that had yet to act, this trait is now easier to utilize, providing the extra damage against a target as long as they'd yet to act in combat.

This is because while Changelings used to b𓆏e incapable of altering their size when chan🅘ging their appearance, they can now become small-sized if desired. This means that a Changeling can now impersonate small-sized races such as Gnomes or Halflings with ease.

Elemental Evil Player's Compendium by Wizards of the Coast

Deep Gnomes were a somewhat simple and rather underwhelming Gnome subrace, h﷽aving access to superior darkvision and advantage on stealth checks and rocky terrain at the cost of sunlight sensitivity. While Deep Gomes could gain access to some magic via a race-exclusive feat, it was not something the race was automatically granted. Completely reworked and now functioning as its own race, Deep Gnomes have advantage on intelligence, wisdom, and charisma saving throws against spells, and gain access to the spells Disguise Self and Nondetection, allowing for unique build potential. They also excel when it comes to stealth, now able to provide themselves with advantage on any stealth check regardless of their surroundings.

Goliaths are a race of sizable folk who are distantly related to giants. While the buff to this race may seem subtle, it's quite impactful. One of the defining traits of a goliath is its Stone's Endurance trait, that can be used as a reaction, reducing the damage a goliath sustains from one source by 1d12 plus their constitution modifier. While this ability could only be used once between rests, it can now be used a number of times equal to the character's proficiency bonus, allowing a Goliath to shrug off several attacks in a single combat, drastically improving their survivability.

Hobgoblins are easily among the most improved races in Monsters of the Multiverse. In addition to gaining Fey Ancestry like the perviously mentioned Bugbears, Hobgoblins now have stellar utility in the form of the Fey Gift ability. This allows a Hobgoblin to use the help action as a bonus action, providing an ally with advantage on an attack roll in combat. While this would already be solid in its own right, when a Hobgoblin helps an ally, they can provide additional value to the action, providing temporary HP, extra mobility, or even punishing the target of the helped creature's next attack with disadvantage on their next attack roll.

2 Orc

Though Orcs have lost access to their Primal Intuition trait that provided them with additional proficiencies, the new abilities they've gained more than make up for it.One of the better abilities available to Orcs was their Aggressive trait, allowing them to dash as a bonus action if they were moving closer to an enemy. Reworked into Adrenaline Rush, this ability still allows an Orc to dash as a bonus action, though now providing temporary HP to the Orc and removing the aforementioned movement constrain. Additionally, Orcs now have the added benefit of the ever-excellent Relentless Endurance ability that Half-Orcs are known for!

Elves of the Shadowfell, Shadar Kai, are a race that have been left largely the same save for a buff akin to that which was received by the Eladrin. As a bonus action Shadar Kai are able to teleport up thirty feet, gaining resistance to all damage until their next turn. While this stellar ability used to be limited to one use per rest, it can now be used a number of times equal to the character's proficiency bonus. Not only does this make a Shadar Kai more mobile per combat, it also allows them to more reliably maintain their damage resistance and extra mobility.
