Much like the sorcerer’s Wild Magic subclass, the barbarian's Path of Wild Magic activates anytime the barbarian in question goes into a rage. Unlike the sorcerer’s Wild Magic, however, every effect on the Wild Magic table is good.
From creating difficult terrain around you to shooting out vengeful force damage, the Path of Wild Magic is a wonderful way to make barbarians feel myꦜthical and mysterious. Plus it has amazing opportunities for flavor and dynamic relationships. It is not particularly reliable, but it is extremely fun🎐.
11 🎐 Bard - College of E🅷loquence
The bard-iest bard to ever bard, the College of Eloquence takes every basic feature of the bard and turns it up a notch. With Silver Tongue at level three, you are al﷽ready mostly immune to failing most Charisma checks, something that can help avoid combat all together.
While not as flashy and exciting as some of the other Colleges, Eloque𒈔nce is by far one of the most reliable and deceptively powerf🌄ul bard subclasses. It offers excellent support options for the heavy hitters and creates an offensive use for Bardic Inspiration as well.
10 Cleric - Trickery Domain ꦫ ♍
As an astounding subversion of the traditional cleric motif, the Trickery Domain transforms the class into an almost rogue like envoy of chaos and gaffs. Dedicated to one of the miscౠhievous gods in the D&D pantheon, Trickery Domain clerics💞 can use their Channel Divinity feature to create an illusion of themselves.
In combat these ilဣlusions can be used to gain advantage on attacks and to trick opponents into an early grave. With a dip ꦜinto rogue as well, the Trickery Domain Cleric could be a fun way to incorporate divinity into an Evil party.
9 Dru🐼id - Circle of the Shepherd 🍌
Most people know druids for t🌌heir Wild Shape feature, a✱nd true the Circle of the Moon Druid is the best option for that. However, the Circle of the Shepherd druid focuses on summoning creatures to aide in combat and story.
With the caveat that this subclass requires the right setting, a character dedicated to the animal life in a campaign has extremely high role-🍌play potential for both the player and the Dungeon Master. Plus, the Unicorn Spirit feature can rival a Life Domain Cleric in terms of healing per round.
8 Fighter - Cav൲alier🃏
Traditionally a one hit wonder, the Caval🦩ier creates options for the front-line fighter to be more defensive focused. Much like the Ancestral Guardian barbarian, the Cavalier&rsquo🌳;s feats are designed to draw in focus on themselves so their supports can freely move around the battlefield.
Beyond that, the Cavalier has a feat right at level three that allows for a more smooth and effective𓃲 mounted combat. Usually quite a hind⛄erance to the flow of storytelling, the Cavalier’s Born to the Saddle feature can really make the fighter shine in a new way.
7 🍌 Monk - Way of the Kensei 💯
In terms of unique class abilities, the Way of the Kensei is tཧhe only monk subclass that features weapons as its primary damage source. In many ways a more mundane monk subclass, the Way of the Kensei features do not require ki points most of the time, leaving room for more stunning strikes and fury of blows.
Monks have never had many rang𒈔ed options, but with the addition of weapons, Kensei monks can use both the whip and the longbow. Finally, some good range on this class.
6 Paladin - Oa𒁏th of the Watchers
Paladins are one of the strongest clas❀ses in Dungeons & Dragons but unfortunately they can be quite repetitive in 🌳their role-play. The Oath of the Watchers subclass introduces a wonderful way for paladins to explore a different style of righteous adventuring.
This subclass is all about the tracking and defense against extraplaner creatures and forces. These can be anything from fey and fiends, to abberants and celestജials. Of course, this does require the 𓃲DM to work with the player, and incorporate extraplaner creatures, but with the right Dungeon Master anything is possible.
5 ꦉ Ranger - Fey Wanderer
Traditionally kept for one of the Charisma focused classes, the face of the party is always important for delicately 🌟traversing the social situations of many campaigns. However, the Fey Wanderer ranger can make a wonderful face, being able to add their Wisdom modifier to any Charisma check.
Additionally they can make foes think twice about using any charming or frightening features with their vengeful Beguiling Twist feature. Finally for an added fun twist, at level three the ranger can add 1d4 of psychic damage to an attack each turn. While it does not soun𝐆d like much, psychic damage is rarely resisted, making this a very reliable damage source.
4 Rogue 🅰- Phantom
Yes, ro🌌gues are constantly plagued with the macabre and dark tropes; and yes, this subclass does not deviate from that. However, the mechanics of the Phantom ro꧂gue are so unique, only similar to the Way of the Long Death monk.
Each feature of the Phantom rogue is not only mechanically🃏 useful (from learning basically any skill they want to instantly becoming a ghostlike entity, safe from attacks) but also rife with non-combat utility. Finally, a Phantom rogue would also be a wonderful can💞didate for a dip into wizard to maximize the necromantic flavor of this spooky subclass.
