The worlds and environments of games seem to be getting increasingly bigger and more detailed over time, with Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, having one of the biggest open worlds in recent memory. creative director Tymon Smektala shared his thoughts on this subject approaching the release of the highly-anticipated sequel to 2015's Dying Light.
In an interview with Xbox: The Official Magazine, ahead of Dying Light 2's 2020 release, developer Techland's Tymon Smektala expressed his perspective on the size of worlds in video games, saying that he's uncertain about whether game worlds will get bigger. Further, it isn't necessarily th🐎e𝐆 size of the game world that's important but instead is the quality and degree of immersion of it.
In other words, while it isn't difficult t🦋o design a sizable world in a video game, it will be the objective of the next generation🌺 to design worlds of great variety, large quantities of NPCs, and diverse animations.
"This is basically our mission as a studio, we want to create first-person open-world games with high-fidelity graphics and with high-fidelity immer🔜sion, where you feel like you are really there," Smektala states.
This is some intriguing insight coming from Smektala. At some point, game worlds can get overwhelmingly expansive. The aforementioned Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, has a huge map that is time-consuming to trek on horseback. However, even open worlds like those of Just Cause 4, Grand Theft Auto V, and others are somewhat demanding in terms of how long it t𒁏akes to travel from location to location. As such, the notion that development should be spent on greater immersion as opposed to greater size follows.
Techland is currently hard at work with Dying Light 2, with the developer having already planned 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:four years' worth of DLC for Dying Light 2. The game itself is set to have a large open world, expanding on the foundation laid out by the original Dying Light title. Based on everything that has been shown thus far, Dying Light 2 is showing🐎 a lot of promise as a follow-up to the 2015 hit, though we'll only know or sure come its Spᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚring 2020 release.
