Gauntlet Combat Tips

The best advice is to understand what stance you are in. The Tiger stance is fast, while the Dragon stance is powerful. Meanwhile, Serpent stance launches enemies upwards, and the Phoenix stance aims for battlefield coverage.

You will want to switch between them as required,✤ using Serpent or Phoenix when surrounded, Tiger when taking bases, and Dragon in single combat. Knowing when and how to switch is how you get the best out of each stance. As a result, your Gems and Battle Arts rely on your preferences.

To get it out of the way, gauntlet fighters should avoid the Oblivion Gem. It boosts your reach, but because this is percentage base, it gets far♋ less use than a reach weapon like a spear. While it can boost some abilities,༺ it doesn't have enough value to you.

However, if you enjoy the aerial combat of the Serpent stance, then the Vortex Gem can boost your damage. Players who hunt large crowds out in battle meanwhile can get a health boost from the Wellspring Gem.

For most gauntlet fighters though, it's a choice between the Scorch Gem or Ascendance Gem. Those who excel in parries will be rewarded by Scorch, while those who struggle can seek aid through the boosts of tඣhe Ascendance.

For most weapons, the cheap reliability of having the Special Battle Art (marked by [Sp.] and needed to interrupt orange attacks from captains) be Palm Strike is sensible. But gauntlets are maybe the best suited to this as it relies on being close enough for hand to hand combat. Though attacks like Ardent Energy Strike are more powerful, having your Special be just one cost means it is almost always t💙here whe꧂n you need it.

This frees you up for more expensive Battle Arts, like the Wrath of Earth attack which costs six Bravery. However, this devastating earthquake is only available if you max out your proficie𒁏ncy, so you'll need other options in the meantime.

A cheaper version of Wrath of Earth would be Stone Strike Blast, which uses four Bravery - a good alternative until it can be unlocked. Maw of the Tiger is an excellent counterattack Battle Art costing three Bravery (far better for gauntlets than Aerial Retribution), while Hurricane Kick (three Bravery) or the cheaper Flying Kick (one bravery) is a great melee option. When you want to put some distance between you and the crowd, Dispersion Arrow is a rare ranged Battle Art ꧂available to gauntlet fighters.
