Microsoft has announced an all-new Battletoads title for the Xbox One.

The news came during Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation, and while details are scarce, we know it will b♏e 4K, 2.5 D, and it will hit the Xbox One in  2019. The trailer pointed out that a lot of time has gone by since the last title in the ser🐭ies released, and since then, players have gotten accustomed to games getting easy. While that may not be completely true— the Souls series and even the Xbox console exclusive Cuphead have been punishing to𒐪day's gamers for a while now—Battletoads was one of the original games that caused us to throw our ಞcontrollers across the room in a fit of rage.

This is something fans have been clamoring for since Microsoft acquired a majority🐽 of Rare. For 𒅌those who aren’t hip to Battletoads, it’s a series that🅰 existed in arcades and Nintendo consoles in the early half of the 1990s. If we’re going off history, expect this new entry to be a tough as nails beat-em-up following three toads of battle— Rash, Pimple, and Zitz—as they battle the Dark Queen across 2D le🅘vels. Longtime fans should be excited to hear that the grossly named toads will apparently return as playable characters, as indicated by “the three of you” comment made in the trailer.

The last time players saw Battletoads in any capacity was in 2015’s Rare Replay where multiple titles were available and in Killer Instinct where the toads were playable as fighters.

It will be exciting to see what exactly Rare has planned forꩲ the upcoming title. Heading intoꦰ E3 2018, Death Squared developer SMG Studio at Rare saying they had some ideas for a new Battletoads title, 🌌and while it does look to be a Rare venture, it goes to show how badly people wa🐻nted this.

This news isꦚ great for any Xbox owners out there. Microsoft needed to show off new exclusive content at E3 2018 and with a new Ori title, Cuphead DLC, Halo Infinite, Gears of War 5, and now Battletoads, the Xbox One is looking strong going into 2019. Only time will tell how this will play out, but for a console desperate for quality first-party content, Microsoft did a lot to generate excitement around the Xbox One. For now, we just have to wait for 2019, which can’t come🍬 soon enough.
