EA is going to “double down” on its commitment to the Star Wars 𝓡franchise after achieving huge success inꦑ recent years.
Disney is certainly happy with how EA is handling their IP, if yesterday's "" is to be believed. EA CEO Andrew Wilson told Star Wars fans that EA is going to continue working with Disney and further cement itself as the Star Wars game developer in the coming years.
"We have a tremendous relationship with Disney," Wilson said. "We have a tremendous relationship with Lucas. We have a longstanding relationship with them going all the way back to Star Wars: The Old Republic that we launched in 2011."
While The Old Republic wasn't exactly a smash hit, more recent games have been far more successful. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars Battlefront and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Battlefront II have been tremendously valuable for EA, selling a combined 33 million units as of October of last year. Wilson says that number is now closer to 35 million currently, while mobile game Galaxy of Heroes and single-player adventure168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have both been blockbuster games.
Wilson admits that the recently announced Star Wars: Squadrons won't likely be quite as hug﷽e as the previously mentioned titles, but they still have high hopes for the upcoming arcade flight sim.
"We've had success in first-person shooters, in RPGs, in action-adventure, in MMORPGs, in mobile, and I believe we're going to have success with Squadrons as well," he said. "We'🌼re going to double down on that partnership. Disꦅney continues to be very very committed to the IP and to the canon."
