EA has negotiated a long-term renewal agreement with the global union of professional football players FIFPRO, allowing the publisher to continue using football player likenesses in its games. According to the press release sent to TheGamer, this agreement will allow EA to "deliver the greatest, most authentic football experience to more than 150 million players glꩵobally."
EA continues to explain that the agreement with FIFPRO will help it generate "unparalleled authenticity" and that the deal brings with it thousands of player names and likenesses. Vice President of the EA Sports brand David Jackson also claims that one of FIFA's most important aspects is the "deep immersion" that players experience:
"Our players regularl🌌y remind us that one of the most important aspects of an EA SPORTS experience is the deep immersion created through authentic use of the world’s greatest leagues, teams, and talent," explains Jackson. "It’s how we continue to uniquely blur the lines between the digital and physical worlds of football.”
This news comes shortly after reports that EA could be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:renaming its FIFA series. According to some recent trademark filings made by EA, the publisher may be rebranding as early as next year with a new football series titled "EA Sports FC." If the reports are true, today's news at least reassures long-time FIFA fans that EA will still be able to continue using player likenesses even if the publisher cuts ties with FIFA itself.
In other FIFA-related news, the series' continued use of loot boxes despite being widely unpopular is still making headlines.
