All of the data in this article was uncovered through the diligent work of fans. This comes from the 2018 leak of the 1997 Space World Demo of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Gold/Silver along with the 2019 leak of some beta cont﷽ent from the original games. With those꧃ two things alone, they opened up so much knowledge for the Pokémon fan community.

Now, even with some Pokémon artwork and or sprite data, not everything is known. That is to s𝕴ay some of these renditions drawn by Rachel Briggs had to be filled in based on gueꩵsswork. Her artistry resembles that of the original artwork the most which is why she was chosen to help showcase some missing links in evolutionary data. She can be followed on Twitter where she has links to her other pieces.

10 Animon

Animon was going to be the evol♈ved form of Ditto. It would have evolved using the Metal Coat item just like Onyx 🐠would to transform into Steelix.

Howev💯er, Animon would have still just been a Normal 𒀰Type, which then begs the question as to why it should evolve in the first place. That question is probably why these plans were dropped.

9 Bittybat

This is actually more of an interpretation from Rachel as only the back of Bittybat was ever uncovered. Plus the name is not known for this first stage of Zubat so Bittybat then is a fan name. Zubat would get a third evolution via Crobat in the sequel, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Gold/Silver. W꧒hether Bittybat attributed to🔯 this this decision is a mystery, but the best guess is yes.

8 Goruchu

This interpretation from Goruchu was drawn෴ by on DeviantArt. This is the one thing Rachel did not draw as there was nothing to draw from, literally. All that is known is based on a 2018 interview conducted with Yomiuri, a Japanese publication in 2018. In it Ken Sugimori,🏅 Atsuko Nishida, and Koji Nishino from Game Freak discuss the idea of a third evolution for Pikachu including some minor details like the horns.

7 Guardia

Guardia is a fan name for this evolution of Marowak. It also only had a back sprite present to work with just like Bittybat. This missing link presumably morphed into a new Pokémon altogether, Kangaskhan. This now explains how the idea of Cubone wearing its mother’s skull is so confusing💃. That is to say many fan theories link to Kangaskhan being the mother, which now makes sense if Kangaskhan did indeed evolve from Gua𒁃rdia in terms of design inspirations.

6 Madame

Madame is an evolution of Farfetch'd and if the design and name aren’t a dead giveaway, this would only be for female versions. So what about male Farfetch'd? While a male version was not uncovered from the Space World demo, this idea would come back via Sirfetch'd from Generation VIII aka 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Sword/Shield. Sirfetch'd is just 🐬an ꦿoverall evolution point though and not gender specific which is a shame for Madame.

5 Nameeru

No, Nameeru is not a canceled Slowpoke evolution. It does sort of look like a Slowbro but with whiskers and a shell on its head. Anyway, this was actually an evolution for Lickitung. While this was canceled, Lickilicky, introduced in Generation IV aka 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, would be Lickitung’s long awaited evolution. T🎉he two evolutions don’t share much resemblance.

4 Plux

Plux was going to be an evolution of Pinsir. With that whit mask, it actually looks like an angel from Neon Genesis Evangelion. That could have inspired it since that was popular in Japan at the time. Anyway, while Pinsir still has no traditional evolution it can Mega Evolve at least. Mega Pinsir was introduced in Generation VI aka 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon X/Y.

3 Shibirefugu

This was a proposed evolution for Qwilfish. Unlike most of these entries, Qwilfish still 🔜has no evolution. It can’t even Mega Evolve.

It was never really that po♋pular which may explain why Game Freak never tried again. That said there is some great fan art out there based on proposed evolutions like turning it into what appears to be a ball and chaꦗin. That fits in with Honedge's weapon-like design as well.

2 Tsubomitto

Tsubomitto was going to be an alternate evolution for Weepinbell, which𒁏 would have used the cut item, Poison Stone. The Poison Stone would have also evolved Eevee into Umbreon and Gloom♌ into Bellossom. Based on the lanky design, it actually would have made more sense for it to evolve from Bellsprout, but that’s just an observation. It's also pretty awkward looking which is both creepy and cute.

1 Weirduck

Weirduck is another fan name, and yes, this too only had a back sprite to work with. What is known is that this would have been the middle evolution of Psyduck. Game Freak probably decided it wasn’t needed as the transformation between Psyduck and Golduck made perfect sense already. To save data, which was precious in the original games, it was cut. That’s presumably why a lot of the third evolutions of Pokémon were cut.
