One of the most compelling aspects of Skyward Sword is that it's chronologically the first game in the series. Gameplay aside, Skyward Sword is full of surprising moments that still resonate with fans years after its release.

10 Zelda's Thousand-Year Slumber

Link looks at Zelda inside the Sealed Temple

After spending more than half of his journey looking for Zelda, Link finally has a moment to catch up with her after defeating The Imprisoned for a second time and traveling back in time inside the Sealed Temple. The two finally share a moment of peace, but it doesn't last as long as either would like.

Zelda takes this time to explain her role in stopping Demise's resurrection and lets Link know that his adventure is not over yet. She eventually crystallizes herself to help keep Demise locked away, but the emotional farewell between the two gives Link the motivation he needs to fulfill his destiny.

9 ꦑ Sailing The Sand Sea

Link rides a boat across an ocean of water and sand

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker allowed you to sail across an ocean like a pirate, and Skyward Sword surprisingly brings that concept back for a fun trip through a sea𓆉 of sand. Link recruits a robot to help h🍌im search for one of the Sacred Flames, and the two sail from port to port, looking for a certain boat.

It's a very brief section, but it's a nice change of pace after running around for the first half of the game. Your ship might not talk to you like the King of Red Lions, but you can still use its canon to shoot at enemy ships.

8 Koloktos

Koloktos spreads his arms in the Ancient Cistern in The Legend Of Zelda Series.

The Legend of Zelda series is known for♏ having some of the most memorable bosses in video games. Skyward Sword might not have the most spectacular line-up of villains waiting for you at the end of every dungeon, but the confrontation with Koloktos in the Ancient Cistern is easily one of the best the franchise has to offer.

This multi-armed machine is incredibly intimidating but is a blast to fight once you know what to do. After removing Koloktos' arms with the whip enough times, it will eventually grow legs and begin chasing Link with a giant sword in each hand. You can then use the whip to remove its arms again, take its weapon, and give Koloktos a taste of its own medicine by defeating it with the enormous blades.

7 Ghirahim Is Demise's Sword Spirit

Ghirahim crosses his arms in his final form

Ghirahim is Demise's right-hand man and appears countless times to interfere with Link's progress. You'll need to fight him three times throughout Skyward Sword, and in the final encounter, Ghirahim finally reveals that, like Fi, he is a Sword Spirit and lives inside Demise's blade.

It's one of Skyward Sword's most shocking twists, but it makes perfect sense that Demise would have a Sword Spirit to aid him, just like Link does. Ghirahim's true form is certainly his toughest, but if you've taken him down before, it won't be nearly as challenging as Demise himself.

6 𒉰 Zelda Confronts Groose

Zelda points her finer in Groose's face while Stritch watches

One of the most highly-praised aspects of Skyward Sword is Zelda's characterization. In the opening hours, you see her sense of humor, courage, and wisdom through interactions with Link and the other citizens of Skyloft. You also get to witness her publicly embarrass Groose in one of the funniest scenes in the game.

After Groose and his henchmen take Link's Loftwing and hide it away, the young hero confronts them only to be mocked instead. Zelda is the one to finally step in and call Groose out on his shenanigans and sends him off. It's a fun twist to see her standing up for Link, who usually168澳洲幸运5开奖网: has to save her in nearly every other game.

5 𓆏 🍃 Saving Levias

Levias soars out of an ocean of clouds

You'll spend a lot of time in Skyward Sword riding your Loftwing from place to place, but one of the final bosses in the game turns your feathered vehicle into an extremely powerful weapon. One of your final tasks is to summon Levias to teach you the Song of the Hero, but it turns out the giant whale has been possessed by a parasite known as Bilocyte.

To free Levias from this evil creature, you'll need to fly around him and use your Loftwing to attack the eyes protruding around his body. Like sailing the sand sea, this encounter is both a huge surprise and a breath of fresh air after running around for hours, but it's the only aerial combat in the entire game, which is a shame.

4 🅺 Groose Tags Along 🌼

Groose screams while falling from the sky

Groose is one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the most underrated characters in the Zelda universe. He may come across as the town bully at first, but once you look past his atrocious pompadour and tough exterior, you'll find someone who is just looking for a way to fit in.

He is so desperate for attention that he even decides to hop from Skyloft to follow Link on his adventures, but he doesn't have the tools for a safe landing. After screaming for a bit, Groose finally latches onto Link and lands safely alongside him, but the moment of relief doesn't last long. Grosse is immediately ambushed by a swarm of tiny birds that causes him to freak out, but Link eventually calms him down.

3 Impa 🔯Reveal

Impa touches her bracelet in the Sealed Temple

Link and Zelda are aided by mysterious women who seem intent on guiding them toward their destinies. One of them guards the Gate of Time wiꦉthin the Sealed Temple, while the other stays by Zelda throughout her adventure to keep her safe. One of the final moments in Skyward Sword reveals that the two characters are both Impa, just from different periods of time.

In their final farewell, Zelda decides to give her Impa one of her bracelets to commemorate their time together. After Link, Groose, and Zelda use the Gate of Time to jump back to the present, it doesn't take long for Zelda to notice the mysterious woman wearing that same bracelet. You might see this twist coming, but it's still heartwarming to see the two reconnect across time.

2 Fi's Farewell

Fi's and Link look at each other inside the Sealed Temple

Sword Spirits may not seem like the liveliest or most rambunctious species in Hyrule, but they are incredibly loyal to whoever wields them. Fi rarely shows any emotion 🤪during your adventure and mostly ju🎃st tells you what your next objective is, but it turns out that saying farewell is more difficult than she intended.

After defeating Demise, Fi lets Link know that it's time to put the Master Sword - and her spirit - back where it belongs. After a fairly cold goodbye, Fi comes back one last time to say thank you for the memories and for allowing her to feel happiness, an emotion she felt like she was never capable of feeling.

1 The Wing Ceremony 🅘

Link and Zelda stand close together

Skyward Sword receives a lot of praise for its depiction of Link and Zelda's relationship. Instead of following the usual tropes, the game quickly subverts expectations by having you spend the first couple of hours with Zelda and seeing how close she is to Link from growing up as childhood friends.

After retrieving your Loftwing back from Groose and winning the race, Link and Zelda get to spend some quality time together on top of the Statue of the Goddess. The dialogue is lighthearted, and it's great to see these two have a moment of peace before the plot begins moving. The Wing Ceremony is the calm before the storm, and it does everything to establish the relationship between the two heroes perfectly.
