While he seems like he'd be somewhat intimidating if you were to get on his bad side, Blaidd is easygoing enough that you can strike up a conversation with him without fear of the worst happening. So, as long as you don't give him a reason to despise you, he probably won't, and you should keep it that way.
9 Whit♛e-Faced Varré 💮
Sure, White-Faced Varré may call you "maidenless" in the early goings of the game and may even be condescending to you every time you exchange words, but that doesn't make him a bad character. However, it's his mean-spirited remarks that make him stand out from the rest of the cast in Elden Ring.
Varré's demeanor actively has you wanting to see where his questline leads while fighting the urge to end him where he stands every time you bump into him, an achievement only the famed Patches has been able to get away with in every Soulsborne title. While not nearly as interesting as Patches, Varré will keep your interest until the very end of his quest.
8 Patches
Speaking of Patches, he's back once more with his high jinks, this time in the Lands Between. If you're a veteran of the Soulsborne titles, then Patches won't really surprise you with his antics in Elden Ring, but it's still fun to see what he's getting into and how he goes about tricking his victims into "finding riches," only to rob them blind in the end.
However, in Elden Ring, Patches has an incredibly interesting questline and backstory that we recommend following. Furthermore, Patches can also provꦿide tremendous help to you in the Margit, the Fell Omen boss battle, something we would never have expected. But, it does come at a rather steep price, so maybe he didn't change that much in the grand scheme of things.
7 Iron Fist Alexander ꧙
Iron Fist Alexander is a jolly, giant cauldron reminiscent of th𒆙e Onion Knight, Siegmeyer, from Dark Souls. Alexander earns that comparison by being a genuine companion every step of the way in Elden Ring. And, much like the Onion Knight, you get to see Alexander struggle with doubt and personal shortcomings throughout your journey, w🍨hich makes you want to root for and support him as much as possible.
Out of the entire cast of Elden Ring, Alexander might be the best there is, but the competition is fierce when it comes to characters you will risk it all for to see them accomplish their goal. We strongly urge anyone who loves Alexander's carefree and cheerful nature to see his questline through to the end.
6 Roderika
Roderika is the classic FromSoftware character you want to protect at all costs. When you first run into her, she's worn down, terrified, and heartbroken about her friends and their misfortune. However, when you invite her back to the Roundtable Hold, you have the chance to brighten her spirits a bit.
After following her questline, you will learn that Roderika has a knack for Spirit Tuning and can lev😼el your Spirit Ashes with her unique gift. Furthermore, seeing Roderika utilize her full potential, and become much happier than she was when you first met, is a genuinely heartwarming experience in the cold world Elden Ring offers.
5 Fia
Fia is a rather fascinating character in Elden Ring but will stick with many players moving forward. Deꦍspite her𝓡 warm, gentle hug giving everyone a significant debuff without them knowing, Fia's motherly and forbearing personality makes her instantly likable to anyone that encounters her.
Additionally, Fia also has an intriguing questline, with a few surprises that will have you on the edge of your seat. While perhaps not the best character in the game, Fia is undoubtedly a stand-out NPC that you want t♋o know more about.
4 Smithing Master Hewg 🧔
Aside from being one of the game's most essential characters due to his ability to upgrade your weaponry, Smithing Master Hewg is another NPC with a deep, dark past and a story to tell. The conversations between the player character and Hewg can range from soul-crushing to heartwarming and everything in between, which is why we love him so much.
Though some may only use him to upgrade their equipment - shame on you - we recommend listening to his tales and getting familiar with him. It's also incredible seeing Hewg light up after he trains Roderika to become a Spirit Tuner, another rare and touching moment in the game.
3 War Counselor ꦡIji ജ
War Counselor Iji is a Smithing Master of the Carian Royals but gladly lends his gentle hands to the player. Iji is a 🃏soft and well-spoken individual with one of the best backstories, motivations, and questlines in Elden Ring that we dare not spoil here. Just know that we cannot recommend you flag this ge🌃ntle giant down whenever you get the chance.
Iji is the Soulsborne character that puts a smile on your face every single time you run into him. He's well-versed in literature and speaks with confidence and eloquence, drawing you into every word he says. Please, give Iji your undivided attention. It will serve you well in the Lands Between.
2 ꦑ D, Hunter of the Dead ♓
D, Hunter of the Dead is a mysterious yet amiable character in Elden Ring that has an even more mysterious past and questline the more you poke into it. Much like Iji, we don't want to spoil much of D's storyline, motives, or action, but we want to recommend you check it out whenever you get the chance.
Whether you click with D from the jump or distrust him will a burning passion, no one can deny that his mystique is captivating, forcing you to want to learn more about him and his situation. It's always a highlight whenever D has something new to offer whenever you visit the Roundtable Hold, and we will always take the time to hear what he has to say.
1 Ranni the Witch 🤪
Despite introducing herself to you as Renna when you first meet, Ranni reveals her real name to you a bit later into the game whenever you meet her for the second time at Three Sisters. At this point, you can choose to serve her, which we recommend doing wholeheartedly, even if most of that decision is based on hoꦛw striking she is.
Like most characters in the game, Ranni is cryptic and hard to judge, even when meeting with her several times. But, she has to be in her defense, and it becomes increasingly more evident why with each subsequent visit. And, before we spoil anything about her storyline, we will end things here. But, if it weren't already clear, we would like you to serve her as well. How can you deny her anyway?
