This year has truly been the year of Elden Ring. No other game has topped it. Horizon Forbidden West stood no chance. Stray might've caught some attention, but the indie is facing a foe that's as formidable as Malenia. The only possible contenders left for the rest of 2022 is Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and perhaps God of War: Ragnarok, but it'll be one massively tall order to overcome FromSoftware's breakout mainstream success. Now, in another arena, Elden Ring is setting records.Having sold like gangbusters, Elden Ring has also topped YouTube for the biggest gaming launch, seeing 3.4 billion video views in 60 days (via ). It's easily one of the most popular game launches on the video-streaming platform ever, and is another feather to the cap that cements Elden Ring as one of gaming's GOATs.
YouTube Gaming shared the numbers, so we have it on pretty good authority. It's an almighty number of video views since we get a comparison with some other huge gaming titles. One of them being the cultural phenomenon that is GTA 5. Rockstar's game is one of the biggest entertainment products of all time, but it pales in comparison with Elden Ring, which is a bit of a surprise. But GTA 5 only – only – had 1.9 billion views ⛦for its launch views🐲.Others in the rankings include Re♛d Dead Redemption 2 with 1.4 billion views; Super Mario Odyssey with 828 million views; Zelda: Breath of the Wild with 638 million views; and rounding off the top 6 is Skyrim on 456 million v🌜iews.
Interestingly, YouTube Gaming has also collated the top uploads by bosses, meaning we get to see which big bads are the ones drawing the ꦯeye balls. Coming out top is Margit the Fell Omen, by a good margin, ♔beating out Malenia Blade of Miquella.
Meanwhile, the top Elden Ring YouTubers, with an '⭕Elden Lord Award' from YouTube Gaming, are: Zullie the Witch, Distortion2, VaatiVidya, Fextralife, and RichaadEB. Theꦿ likes of Zullie the Witch are known for revealing hidden details about the Lands Between while Distortion2 is known for their speedrunning feats.
When Namco Bandai published Elden Ring back in late February, ܫit might've hoped that it would capture some of the buzz that had generated from 𓆏the back of the likes of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but even with that it's probably come as a surprise just how successful Elden Ring became. FromSoftware fans must be rejoicing even while they curse in frustration from dying once again.
