He’♎s had a life that has touched many, being more involved with his siblings than any other of the demigods. As much as he may look like a saint, stories written by George♎ R. R. Martin and Fromsoft are rarely black and white, so what hides under Miquella the Kind’s surface?
Updated on July 9, 2024, by Alfredo Robelo: The release of Shadow of the Erdtree has given us more details about Miquella than we could have ever hoped for. We have updated this article to showcase the new information, and reformat it so said information is better presented.
Spoilers For The Base Game And The DLC!
The Youngest Demigod
Miquella is the son of the goddess Marika and her Lord Consort, Radagon. This makes him a demigod, but among the deities he is even more special, since he is also an Empyrean, meaning that he could ascend to g💛odhood should he𒁏 wish to do so.
The other Empyreans that we k﷽now of are his sisterꦦ Malenia and his half sister, Ranni.
He has a twin sister, Malenia, with each child having different traits inherited from their parents. While Malenia has red hair and the fighting prowess of Radagon, Miquella has golden hair and Marika's soft mannerisms.
Sadly, both twins were also cursed, with Malenia getting the worst deal: she was chosen by the Outer God of Rot to be its avatar, so she might one day rise as a goddess of Rot. Miquella, on the other hand, is cursed with eternal youth, never looking older than a young boy.
Both Marika and Radagon had several children before their union, and Miquella kept a close relationship with a few of them.🧸 Yꦫet the one he was closest to was Malenia, and he would do all he could to help her with her Rot affliction.
Religious Studies
There are several spells that can be found in the Lands Between that were designed by Miquella, and most of the ones related to the Golden Order were meant as a gift for his father, Radagon. But Miquella’s drive to learn more about incantations wasn’t only fueled by a wish to impress his father but also by a desire to heal his sister.
Miquella soon found out that the path to healing Malenia couldn’t be found in the Golden Order, so he moved away from their teachings. He’d develop his own incantations, based on charms to have people do his bidding, and Unalloyed Gold that would prevent the meddling of the Outer Gods.
The timeline of events isn’t clear, but it is likely that it was after his disillusionment with the Golden Order that he decided to grow his own “tree,” the Haligtree, watering it with his own blood. This would become the home for both Miquella and Malenia, and Unalloyed Gold would become their symbol.
Family Relations
As discussed above, Miquella was in good standing with most of his family, something unusual since the demigods rarely dealt with each other. In fact, Miquella can be connected to nearly all the demigod💙s in some wa🦩y, working like a connective tissue for the story.
Marika And Radagon
Marika and Radagon have a secret that you can discover in the base game, and that secret is that they are one and the same. This is mad🦂e e𒅌vident during the final boss fight since Marika quite literally turns into Radagon.
The only one twho inherited this trait is Miquella, since he also has another half, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:known as St. Trina. This entity had its own set of🌼 followers, based around the love for the forgo𝓀tten and the comfort of eternal sleep.
Messmer is another brother of Miquella introduced in the DLC, but n🐭o further connection is established. We do know that his mother is Marika, and since he has red hair, his father might be Radagon, making ꦇhim the only direct sibling of Miquella other than Malenia.
Malenia
The bond between Miquella and Malenia was strong, so much so that it was the main drive for Miquella to research Unalloyed Gold. The curse of Rot that afflicted Malenia left her without an arm and a leg, but Miquella was able to make prosthetics for her made from this Gold, so it would never rot away.
The greatest artifact Miquella developed for Malenia was a needle, meant for warding off the meddling of the Outer Gods. Once inserted, it can cut off the user from all Outer Gods, but the solution is only temporary; should it ever be🥀 removed or broken, the Outer God would return stronger than ever.
Player🎉s can use a perfected form of this needle to disconnect themselves from the Outer God of the Flame of Frenzy, but only if they insert the needle in a space outs🦋ide of time (like Placidusax’s arena).
Malenia would go on to champion Miquella’s cause, doing his bidding whenever he needed her to. This would make he𓄧r Miquella’s greatest weapon, but not his chosen champion, for he had someone else in mind for that role.
Radahn
Radahn was the son of Radagon and Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. This was a marriage for convenience, so the Carian Royals of Rennala would join the forces of the Golden Order. However, Rennala would be forever smitten by the red-haired warrior.
Radahn became a champion of the Golden Order, looking up to and admiring Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. He was a charismatic general loved by everyone he met, a quality Miquel🐼la saw as invaluable for his own cause.

Miquella wanted to become a god like his mother, but in a way that would bring about an age devoid of the Golden Order and the two fingers, an Age of Compassion. He wanted Radahn to be his Lord Cons😼ort, maki꧙ng a vow with the general so it would come to pass.
We don’t know what Miquella vowed to do for Radahn, but we do know the condition was met and that Radahn then promised to become Miquella’s Consort. Si▨nce the vow involved Malenia as well, it was likely related to the two of them having a duel to the death.
Godwyn
Being one of Marika's first children, Godwyn acted as the older brother he was for Miquella and Malenia. His father was Godfrey, and while he had two other brothers, Godwyn was ജthe only one who wasn’t afflicted with the horns of the Omen.
He treated everyone, even his enemies, with the utmost respect, and was apparently loved by many. This might have been what marked him as a target during the Night of the Black Knives, which led to his assassination, making him the first demigod to die.
Godwyn’s death was… complicated, since what died was his soul, not his body. Miquella loved his brother dearly and tried his best to bring him back to life, but to no avail; it isn’t known why Miquella couldn’t, but it might be because once a soul is dead, resurrection is impossible.
Ranni
Among the rest of his siblings, Ranni is the one that most resembles Miquella, although they have never interacted with one another. They are both Empyreans, they want to achieve godhood outside the Golden Order, and they have to remove their flesh to do so.
Even the many arm motifs and mention of a thousand-year voyage makes them similar, although their plans seem to be completely opposite. In fact, it was Ranni who planned the Night of the Black Knives, something you’d expect Miquella to resent her for, but he either didn’t know or didn’t care.
Path To Godhood
Miquella wanted to ascend to godhood just like his mother, but to do so, he’d need to perform the same secret rites. They involved accessing the Realm of Shadow and using the Divine Gateway, but Miquella had a🌊 plan for every step of th🥃e way.

This nightmarish trance was just what Miquella needed to enter the Realm of Shadow, but he now needed to get his Promised Consort into the same realm. This is where Malenia enters the picture, being tasked with taking down Radahn and Mohg; Mohg’s soull💖ess body would then become the vessel for Radahn to be🦩 reborn as Lord Consort.
Complications
During the shattering, Malenia dueled with Radahn, but the general proved too mighty for her to handle. In a last-ditch effort to slay him, she broke her needle, unleashing the might of the Scarlet Rot on Caelid.
This was still not enough for Radahn to die, and Malenia was too damaged to continue the fight, so it ended in a stalemate.
This is why we, the players, have to slay both Radahn and Mohg before entering the DLC otherwise Miquella’s plan can’t com༒e to pass.
Shadow Of The Erdtree
Once in the Realm of Shadow, Miquella begins his journey to divinity, shedding his flesh and doubt during his pilgrimage. During his travels, he also removes his other half, St. Trina, leading many to believe Marika had⭕ to do the same with Radagon when she asceಌnded.
With his pilgrimage complete, Miquella makes it to the Divine Gateway with Mohg’s corpse, and his ascension can begin in earnest. Unlike Marika and her Golden Order, Miquella’s Age of Compassion aims to have him as the supreme being♑ without the meddling of the Greater Will or any other Outer God.
Without his love, however, it is hard to imagine how compassionate said Age would be, particularly with Radahn as his Lord Consort. Redmane Freyja speaks of the endless war that awaits Radahn, something good for🔥 a general 🎶but not so much for those living under the Age of Compassion.
