He doesn't have a penchant for blood like Mohg. He can't even be considered overly faithful, like Miquella, since Rykard's whole character arc centers around heresy. It should be no surprise then, that this scorned son of Radagon decided to make his own power and take it for himself.
Who Was Rykard?
The being we meet deep in the bowels of the Volcano Manor is actually not Rykard. Or more specifically, it is no longer fully Rykard. The abomination we face off with is just that: An unholy fusion of a Demigod and a world-eating serpent. Before Rykard became what we know him as, he was a 💯fair huma𒊎noid, though despite his outer beauty, he always housed an ugliness within him.
Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, was originally born Praetor Rykard to Radagon and his first wife, Rennala. It does not seem that Rykard was born with any special abilities like his siblings. As such he took off into the Lands Between and discovered a civilization 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:on Mt. Gelmir. Here he took the title of kings, and he met a dancer by the name of Tanith who he took as his consort. It seems that the only godly ability that was imparted onto Rykard was an infinite lust for power, and an unquenching jealousy of his𓆉 siblings.
What Role Did Ranni Play?
Rykard was born with an insatiable greed. That said, it most likely took a lot of pushing for him to fall completely to madness. One of the driving forces to his fall was actually his sister, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ranni the Witch. It seems that after Radagon took off with his new wife Marika, Ranni sought to purge the Lands Between of the influence of the Greater Will. Knowing she 💯could not do it alone, she turned to her brother Rykard for help.
In what capacity he helped in the assassination of Godwyn, we don't know. He could have put the band of Black Knife assassins together himself, or simply had his armies take on those of the Golden Order as a sort of distraction while the Night of Black Knives took place. Either way, Rykard was at the head of the bloodiest battle of the Shattering, and was given a fragment of the Cursemark of Death by Ranni after her plan succeeded. Rykard💞 now had almost limitless bodies and heroes to feed on, and the ability to kill Destined Death if he so chose. Evidently though, he thought he needed even more power, which drove him to commit his worst heresy of all.
Rykard And The God Devouring Serpent
Drunk with power, Rykard sought even more. His meteoric rise to being the most powerful being on the planet was still hindered in his current form. If he went right out and attacked his father, he would be killed instantly, let alone if he tried to overthrow the Greater Will. Rykard needed the power to kill a god, and unfortunately, he knew where to get it.
Before Rykard took over Mt. Gelmir, there existed a religion that worshipped a serpent that was said to be able to devour even gods. Rykard found this serpent and fed himself to it. His flesh and his Great Rune were absorbed into the serpent and now Rykard and the snake are one and the same. It is unclear whether this is exactly what Rykard wanted. He certainly wanted the power to kill gods, but it seems that he is more a slave to his hunger now than anything else. Rykard continues to feed on great Tarnished warriors to grow himself to a size where he can consume the entire world. Unless of course, you put an end to his✤ blasphemous reign.
