The answers are out there (sort of). With the help of this handy timeline🧸, you'll find out the key events and eras that link the Elder Scrolls games together, and understand why everyone wants to stab each other, no matter whic🅷h game you play.

Prehistoric Era - The Literal Land Before Time

Ayleid Ruins in Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls timeline starts, like most things, with the creation of the universe. The spirits of creation and c🌟haos, Anu and Padomay, kick off the creation of the 12 planes of existence. Time doesn't really exist at this point, until the beginning of what is called the Merethic Era. Little is known about the Merethic Era, except that prehistoric beastmen and dragons roamed the earth, the Falmer were still a thriving kingdom and the Ayleid Empire was sprawling across the continent. Rather than men, Elves were the number one.

Some time during this era the Dragon War occurred, during which humanity rebelled against the dragons and Alduin was first defeated. No games are set during th🧜is prehistoric period, though Skyrim's legendary figure Ysgramor first came to the country during this time.

The First Era - Age of Empires

The First Era is also the longest recorded, lasting 2920 years. Another wide span of Tamriel's history where no games have currently been set, the First Age sees the rise and fall of great empires, with Humans starting to gain supremacy over Elves. It's also during this time that the Tribunal Gods Almalexia, Vivec, and Sotha Sil appear on the scene and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:take control of Morrowind. Most of the world is still pretty unrecognizable to the casual Elder Scrolls player at this point, with most civilizations from this period lost and forgotten by the time the earliest games begin🐼.

That is, except for the Dwemer. It's during this period that these underground masters of magical technology disappear completely, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:nobody knows why. They vanish so suddenly, in fact, that within their ruins there are tables set still for meal🌃s, personal possessions in containers and automatons patrolling just as their💮 masters left them.

The Second Era - Everything Is Awful

During the Second Era, things in Tamriel start to go a little sideways. Remember those early empires? They're all falling apart, and everyone is waging war on one another. This kicks off the Three Banners War, one of the bloodiest conflicts the continent has ever seen so far. The events of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls Online begin in the middle of this era in 2E 583, when Molag Bal attempts a mass Daedric invasion whilst the nꩲations of Tamriel are distracted by war.

Around 300 years after the Three Banners War, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:soon-to-be Emperor Tiber Septim rises to power. He sweeps through Tamriel during the latter end of this era and starts uniting the entire country by force, paving the way for what many would consider the "Modern Era" in the Elder Scrolls franchise. The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard is set during this late period of the age, 300 years af🍷ter the events of The Elder Scrolls Online.

The Early Third Era - That Darn Tharn

The majority of the Elder Scrolls series are set during the Third Era, when the Septim Empire and the Imperials control all of Tamriel. The nations of the continent, while generally independent, all answer to Cyrodiil. This general peace is short-lived, however, because of the actions of Imperial Battlemage Jꦫagar Tharn. In CE398 he betrays the Imperials and starts the events of An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire by making a dark deal with Molag Bal.

One year later, Tharn secretly imprisons the emperor and takes his place on the throne in CE399. This period is called the Imperial Simulacrum, when many nations of Tamriel returned to chaos under Tharn's false rule. Jagar Tharn is defeated during the events of The Elder Scrolls: Arena, the franchise's first game.

The Late Third Era - It All Kicks Off Again

Following Tharn's defeat, magical conflicts and strange events flourish in the chaotic landscape left behind by his short rule. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall happens during the Warp in꧋ the West,🦋 where a miracle known as a Dragon Break bends space and time in High Rock.

Twenty years later in 3E 427, the lord Dagoth Ur begins a campaign of conquest against the Tribunal Gods, only to be stopped by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the player in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

The last years of the Third Era are played out during the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. After Emperor Uriel Septim VII is assassinated, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Oblivion Crisis begins as portals to the hellish realm♈ open all over the world. In order to repel a full scale invasion of the world by Daedric forces, heir to the throne Martin Septim sacrifices himself to defeat the Daedric prince Mehrunes Dagon, destroying the Septim line and bringing a close to the most densely populated age of the Elder Scrolls' timeline.

The Fourth Era - Oops, We Did A Great War

Skyrim Imperial Soldiers and Alduin

With the Empire left struggling after the Septim line ends, the Elves form the Third Aldmeri Domion and cripple the Imperial Legion during a period simply called The Great War. One of the war's biggest conflicts, the attack on White Gold Tower, is the central conflict of The Elder Scrolls: Legends. The war is costly for both sides, but ultimately the Empire is forced to surrender and assume a controversial set of laws called the White Gold Concordat to survive. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls: Blades is set just after 🌞this agreement, during which time the now ouꦓtlawed Imperial Blades are being hunted to extinction by the Dominion.

Soon after the Concordat is signed, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nords of Skyrim rebel due to the suppression of their native religion by the laws. This kicks off the civil war at the centre of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which🦄 just so happens to coincide with the return of Alduin and the Dragon Cri꧅sis in the year 4E 201.
