UPDATE (6:20pm ET): ZeniMax has offered a for the ESO PS5 "disc required" upgrade issue, suggesting you use the overflow menu on the GameHub to select the PS5 version of the game, or open the PS Store directly and search for "The Elder Scrolls Online: PS5🤪 Upgrade."

Original Story Below

The Elder Scrolls Online Console Enhanced edition ꦫis now available, but PS5 users are running into a few early issues. Namely, users are reporting that the download won’t start until they insert a disc – even if they own a digital copy of the game.

ZeniMax is aware of the issue and is curr♎ently working on a fix. The upgraded version of the game should be free to all users who own the base game, but the “disc required” bug seems to be limiting its availability to only players with a p💙hysical copy.

“We are a♏ware of an issue where some players are seeing a message of ‘disc required’ in order to download the Console Enhanced version,” . “The Console Enhanced version is intended to be a free update for those wh💜o own the game, so while this is being worked on, please do not purchase the base game to upgrade. If you do have a disc, this will allow you to download the enhanced version.”

The issue looks to only impact PS5 players, and Xbox Series💎 X|S players should be able to make it through the upgrade💝 process unscathed. The free upgrade is also included in Game Pass, making the service a great way to check out ESO without a large upfront investment.

At the time of writing, ZeniMax is still workꦑi🌱ng through the “disc required” issue on PS5. Stay tuned for more info.
