Even though 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls series doesn't take place on our version of Earth, or even in our own universe, there are still many aspects of the series' lore that is taken from the real world. While the Nord and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Imperial races are clear references to the Norse and Roman cultures, the gods of Aetherium, the 🍨Nine Divines, are less obvious in their influence෴s.

Each of the Divines has its own interpretation between the races of Tamriel, with each seeing them in different ways🗹 depending on their own beliefs and cultural influences. However, for the most part, they are all fairly recognizable and don't deviate enough to make it hard to determine their origins.

9 Akatosh

As the dragon god of time, Akatosh has a few similarities with Chronos, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Greek god of time who, during his engendering, created Aether and Chaos, the former of which linking back to the realm of the Divines, Aetherium. However, Akatosh's name is a little more abstract, as he is named after one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall's beta testers Lawrence Szydlow𒀰ski, who would sign of his posts with "."

While it isn't readily apparent, the first letters of this sign off spell out Akatosh. Furthe🌱rmore, Smaug is the dragon famous for his role in The Hobbit and is likely the reason why Akatosh is a dragon god.

8 Arkay

Although Talos is often most well known as the mortal who became a Divine, he wasn't the first to do so. Arkay beat Talos to the punch and was given divinity, though the exact nature of h🤪ow he became a Divine is up for debate.

While he was probably influenced by several demi-gods from various mythologies, Arkay😼 was named after yet another one of the original beta testers of .

7 Dibella

It seems as though many of the Divines were named after people involved in the process of making Daggerfall, as Dibella was also named after ꦑDaggerfall beta tester Mary Jo DiBella. However, Dibella also has numerous connections to Greek goddesses as well, in particular, Aphrodite, Athena, and their Roman counterparts.

As Dibella is the god of love and beauty, she shares influence with Aphrodite and Venus, while her role as the god of art and music gives her ties to both Athena and Mi꧂nerva. Due to her relationship with Shor in Nordic culture, however, she may also be inspired by Hera or Frigg, the wives of Zeus and Odin respectfully.

6 Julianos

Another Divine named after someone who worked on The Elder Scrolls series, Juli🎃🀅anos, the god of language, literature, and law is named after programmer Julian LeFay, who is also known as the "Father of the Elder Scrolls."

Considering how many Divines are influenced by Greek gods, ꧃Julianos likely takes inspiration from Themis, the Greek of righteous law. However, they could also be linked to Thoth, the Egyptian goddess of writing and the keeper of books. The name of Julianos' Nordic counterpart, Jhunal, indicates that he leans more towards the literature side than the law side.

5 Kynareth

Shrine to Kynareth in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

While there are many Divines whose influence is easy to spot, some are far less so. Due to being both the wife of Shor and the mother of Morihaus, Kynareth is most likely an amalgamatio♏n of various god-wives across several mythologies such as Hera, Frigg, and Juno.

However, due to Kynareth's link with Kyne, her Nordic counterpart, as well as Morihaus' and his wife's involvement in the founding of Skyrim, she may be most associated with Frigg.

4 Mara

Like Kynareth, Mara's influence is a little harder to nail down since she could be influenced by several deities. While her role as the god of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:love and maternity and the fact she is Akatosh's wife give her clear inspiraꦛtion from Aphrodite and Hera, Mara's actual influence may be Norse rather than Greek.

As the handmaid of Kynareth, who is heavily influenced by Frigg, it is possible that Mara is mostly associated with Lofn. A goddess𓂃 usually associated with Frigg, Lofn is seen by Norse cu🔥lture as the arranger of marriages.

3 Stendarr

Again, one of the Nine Divines is named after a Daggerfall beta tester, this time being named after Daniel Starr. However, due to Stendarr's role as the god of mercy and forgiveness, he may have had influence from the Judeo-Christian God rather than any of the more common influences in Greek, Roman, or Norse mythology🔯.

Both Stendarr and the Judeo-Christian God are known for their relatively merciful behജavior. The early Altmeri also view Stendarr as the apologist of man, which lines up with God and Jesus' past in proving that men aren't as bad as they appear to be. Stendarr is also often shown with a spilled chalice, which may be a reference to the Holy Grail.

2 Talos

Talos is named after the great bronze statue of the same na🌊me from Greek mythology, who, depending on certain stories, was either forged by Hephaestus and given to Minos or presented as a gift from Zeus to Europa.

Talos also has connections to several demi-gods, particularly Heracles and Thor. Similarities with the latter come down to both his love of battle as well as the Amulet of Talos bearing a strong resemblance to the Norse symbol for Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. Considering how differently each race in Tamriel views Talos, it is likely that he is another amalgamation𒐪 of several deities and gods across multiple mythologies.

1 Zenithar

Unlike every other Divine named after a beta tester, this time, Zenithar is named after Stephen "Zen" Zepp, a beta tester for the original 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Elder Scrolls game, Arena.

As the god of commerce, wealth, and labor, Zenithar holds many similarities to Mercury and Hermes, as they have similar roles in their respective mythologies. However, due to his strong link with Kynareth, Zenithar could also be influenced by the💦 Vanir, Norse gods of wealth, fertility, and wisdom.
