Skyrim is one of the most expansive games to date and its open world is ridiculously large. With s🅷uch a large world comes many unique regions that players will need to adventure through on their quest to save the wo🤪rld from dragons.
There are so many regions in it can be hard to decide on a favorite. In this list, players will get to see every hold of Skyrim ranked by the prettiness of its landscape. From swampy wetlands to snowy mountains, here is every Skyrim region ranked by their captivating beauty!
10 Hjaalmarch☂ ꦛ
Hjaalmarch consists ofౠ swampy wetlands and it is the region where Morthal can be found. Although there are some beautiful sights to see in this land, such as the stunning city of Solitude in the distance, most of it is extremely repetitive and ugly.
Most adventures don'🥃t want to walk through mud and swamps to get to their destination. Unfortunately, since Hjaalmarch is the easiest route to get to Solitude, it can be an annoying and drab place that players will almost certainly experience at least once. Althoug𓃲h Argonians may disagree!
9 Winterhold 🏅
Winterhold is well-known in Skyrim because it is home to the College of Winterhold. There are no towns in this hold, with the exception of Winterhold city and ev♚en that is barely a town anymore. While occasionally beautiful screenshots of the shining snow can be snapped, most of this region is quite ugly and mostly boils down to a whole lot of repetitive snow.
Any player that has beaten Skyrim has experienced Wint🔴erhold at least once. The initial exciౠtement felt when entering the hold for the first time quickly turns into disappointment once realization sets in about how repetitive and drab the landscape is. Beware of the crazy mages in this region, too.
8 The Reach
The Reach is an extremely beautiful hold that is home to the c🦋ity of Markarth and a notable Orc village. Travelers come from all over to see the city of stone and the landscape is easy on the eyes as well.
There are definitely prettier holds in terms of landscape, however, The Reach is an💧 extremely unique zone with a city that has a lot of character. Any player that's adventuring in the land of Skyrim should make sure to make a stop in Markarth, the🔯y won't be disappointed!
7 The Pale
Located in the Northern region of Skyrim, the Pale is home to the city of Dawnstar. The landscape in this region is snowy, with m𓆉ostly forests and small hills making up the majority of the land. Most players remember this zone for Dawnstar and all the unique quests surrounding it, not to mention the new Brotherhood sanctuary.
The Pale has a unique beauty to it that looks similar to other Skyrim regions while also having a different feel that sets it apart. It is hard to describe in words the interesting scenery that makes up The Pale, but any longtime Skyrim playe♉r is likely to get nostalgic✅ after exploring the lands for a few minutes.
6 Whiterun
Whiterun is the most well-known hold in Skyrim and although the city of Whiterun is not Skyrim's capital, Whiterun gets more tourists to its city than Solitude. This hold is made up of beau🐓tiful skies and grassy plains where mammoths and giants are known to 💮roam the landscape.
Both Riverwood and Whiterun reside in ♔this sliver of land and it makes for a definite stop for Skyrim travelers since it is located in the heart of the province. Traders come from all over to tr🍰ade their goods in Whiterun, and a quick visit makes it easy to see why.
5 Haafingar
Haaf🥀ingar is known as the capital of Skyrim. It is home to the capital city of Solitude, a giant center that is a beautiful sight to behold. This breathtaking region is made up of water and grasslands, with a few large mountains thrown in. It is also home to multiple Daedric quests.
There isn't much more a player could want in terms of beautiful sights because Haafingar has it all: A breathtaking city,✅ a sprawling diverse landscape, and beauti෴ful oceans. Really, could it be any better?
4 Solstheim
Solstheim earns a high spot on this list for being 🧸an extremely unique landmass, especially with Ashland on one side and snowy mountains on the other. Although this island technically isn't a region of Skyrim, it is accessible by b๊oat and as it is in the game, it seems fair to consider it for this list.
Solstheim is made up of Ashland on the south side of it and snowy landscapes to its north. Although some players might expect an ashy landscape to be boring, Solstheim manages to shake things up because of all the nostalgic Morrowind memories it brings with it. This is a bea🎐utiful piece of land that adventures won't want 💙to miss their chance to explore.
3 Eastmarch
Eastmarch is one of the most well-known holds of Skyrim. The oldest city in the province, Windhelm, is located🌼 in this region. It is mostly a snowy꧒ piece of land, however, there is also a part of the area that is dry and has an array of different hot springs.
Gazing over the region of Eastmarch on a star-filled night is a breathtaking view that few other beauties in Skyrim can rival. There isn't much more a playe🐭r could want out of a place like Eastmarch, which is why it deserves a high on this list.
2 Falkreath
Everyone loves to take a good old hike in the woods, and Falkreath hold is the perfect candidate. This hold is home to the city of Falkreath and it is mad꧃e up of forested areas that 𒁃are just amazing to walk through.
The feeling𓆉 of isolation while walking through the woods of Fa🅷lkreath is a unique experience that Bethesda definitely managed to get right. Players should make sure to make at least one stop in this region if they're heading in its direction, even if it is just to visit the ancient graveyard in the city.
1 The Rift
The Rift might be hands down the prettiest region in Tamriel that Bethesda has ever created. The Rift has an autumn-theme that is exclusive to this region and it is also home to the city of Riften. The city is also a beautiful sight to behold because most structures in it are made up of a beautiful looking wood. Not to mention Riften has some interesting quests involving skooma.
The Rift is a fan favorite hold in the Elder Scrolls community and players that enjoy landscapes that are easy on the eyes are definitely going to be spending some time there. Because of its beautiful Autumn theme, 🎉The Rift earns the highest spot on this list!
