Microsoft has made its stanc🃏e clear regarding Epic's fight against Apple. The company released a declaration today in support of Epic Games and emphasized the disastrous consequences if Epic is kept from supporting Unreal Engine on iOS and macOS.
Ever since Epic filed a lawsuit against Apple, the controversy has only been escalating day by day. In the beginning, Epic's addition of in-app purchases within the mobile version of Fortnite would keep Apple from gaining a share of the profits and in response, Apple promptly removed Fortnite from the App store.

Since then, Apple has also terminated Epic developer accounts so they can no longer support development tools on iOS or macOS. This decision has stopped any developers from working on the engine and has affected multiple games including Microsoft's Forza Street.
In response, head of Xbox, Phil🔴 Spencer, tweeted out today regarding Microsoft's support for Epic🌳 against Apple with a link to their declaration.

"Denying Epic access to Apple’s SDK and other development tools will prevent Epic from supporting
Unreal Engine on iOS and macOS, and will place
Unreal Engine and those game creators that have built, are building, and may build games on it at a substantial disadvantage," Kevin Gammill, the general manager for gaming developer experiences at Microsoft, said in Microsoft's declaration.
"If
Unreal Engine cannot support games for iOS or macOS, Microsoft would be required to choose between abandoning its customers and potential customers on the iOS and macOS platforms or choosing a different game engine when preparing to develop new games."
Microsoft said their support for Epic Games is "the right thing for developers and gamers" considering how many developers would be impacted by this change. As stated above, many titles using Unreal Engine would no longer have access and would be faced with drastic decisions. They could completely start over with a new game engine, which would no doubt be expensive, or move away from Apple entirely. Neither are desirable situations.
Who is to say what will come next in this interesting timeline of events, but it's clear that sides are being taken and that the lawsuits has affected multiple companies and developers outside of Epic Games and Apple.
