The cancellation was announced via a on their website, as well as on . When the live event was initially rescheduled, few were surprised as these events typically reel in very large crowds, which is far from ideal amidst the current crisis. These events are held in Malmö, Sweden and regularly bring in speedrunners from all over Europe, and even from around the world. At t🍷he planned time of the event, the Swedish border was open only to residents of the European Union, so many prominent runners from outside the European Union would have not been able to participate. Moving the event online was certainly the right choice.

The online event which replaced Summer Live, ESA Summer Online hosted speedrunners, broadcasting live from their own homes, as opposed to the typical venue they host from in o﷽ther events. In the week-long event, they raised nearly for , a Swedish Alzheimer's research foundation. This is less than the nearly raised in this event last year, but considering every run was hosted from the runner's own personal setups in their bedrooms, instead of from a professionally organized venue with higher quality production, you really can't knock the total. Add this to the made in their Corona Relief event in May, and ESA have more 🅰than made up for the donations missed out on.

ESA has garnered over  for various charities since their inception, and with more time to plan for their next event in Winter 2021, we can definitely expect them to break well past $400k during it. Make sure you keep an eye out for any further updates regarding the event, as well as other events they host.
