Luckily, there are loads of waꦡys to make bank in this universe, from selling the salvage of your recent ki♔lls to trading commodities like a deep space trucker. So if you want to get yourself some green in Everspace 2, read on to discover all the many options available to a space-faring mercenary.

Sell Your Excess Equipment

Everspace 2 Crafting Menu

In the early game, you should almost always dismantle equipment for spare parts as you’ll need lots of them for crafting later on. But once you’ve built up a good supply of those resources, consider selling equipment to various traders.

The number of credits you receive for selling a full hold of weapons, modules, and excess consumables shouldn't be overlooked. But generally speaking, keep your common items for selling while disma🥃ntling uncommon, rare, and legendary items for dismantling.

The prices you get for selling an old shield or weapon are basically the same no matter where you go, s😼o there’s no need to sell in specific locales like you will with c𒀰ommodities.

Respond To Distress Calls And Unknown Signals

While transiting in supralight around systems, you’ll undoubtedly notice distress calls and unknown signals by the loud "ping" that interrupts your travels. If you’re quick enough, you can cancel traveling꧒ to your current destination and instead respond to a distress call or unknown signal.

Distress calls are typically from stranded freighters or freelancers that are looking for some help. You might need to clear some mines or hand over a spare nanobot to repair their systems. Doing so will always result in a happy space farer more than willing to repay your kindness in credits.

Always remember to help these ships first before you go exploring for loot. They might get ambushed 🅺by pirates or aliens if you take too long to help them out.

Unknown signals don’t have guaranteed payoffs, but they can still be quite lucrative. You might discover a pirate base or a signal beacon that’ll call a horde of pirat🏅es to your position. Either way, more enemies to kill means more loot for you to collect.

Sell Your Old Ships

Everspace 2 Ship Dealer Screen

When you're ready to buy your first ship, you'll have a few options for your old one. You can either keep it and send it to storage, or you can sell it.

If you're going from a lower-tier ship to a higher-tier ship, you should just sell your old ship to make the price of the new ship cheaper. Lower-tier ships have lower stats, fewer passives, and are just generally worse than higher-tier ships, so there's no reason to keep them.

Plus, ships are easily the most expensive thing you’ll purchase in Everspace 2, so anything you 𝄹can do to minimize that cost will have a huge impact later on.

Piracy

Everspace 2 Fighter Attacking Freighter

You maybe have noticed systems where there are gray (or neutral) ships just flying around. Often these ships are guarding G&B freighters which can have quite a bit of loot inside. If you’re up for a fight, attack these freighters, steal their contents, and then sell them to other traders.

There are, of course, risks to galactic piracy. Sometimes there can be a lot of G&B fighters around which can deter your piratical inclinations. Exercise caution before embarking on a life of space crime.

Curiously, you can attack a G&B freighter and still land to trade at G&B-controlled stations, meaning you can sel✱l the goods you just stole straight back to them.

Commodity Trading

Everspace 2 Ship Traveling On Planet

There are a dozen commodities available in Everspace 2, ranging from ramen to medicine to cybernetic implants, and each location will buy and sell these commodities for different prices.

This means it's possible to go to one location, buy out its inventory, and then travel to another location to sell it for a higher price. Welcome to commodity trading.

In the early game when you just have access to the Ceto system, don't bother with commodity trading--just sell whatever commodities you find at the nearest trading station. This is more of a mid-to-late game credit farming strategy.

The exact values of each commodity can vary greatly, but thanks to the work of on Steam, we have a chart that tells you where to buy and sell commodities. As the old saying goes, buy commodities in low systems and then sell them in systems with high demand.

For example, if you buy cybernetic implants or solar panels in Ceto, you can sell them in Zharkov and Khione for a huge profit. A good route early-game route involves picking up Earth wine, small arms, and liquor in the Union system and then traveling to Ceto to sell them at Siren's Call.

Do Jobs

Everspace 2 Fighter Attacking Outlaw Destroyer

There are many places in Everspace 2 that offer jobs--random tasks that range from delivering cargo to clearing out a pirate base to eliminating a problematic person for a morally questionable company. Do the job; get paid. What could be simpler?

Nephtys Plains Station is the only trader to offer jobs in the Ceto system, but you'll unlock several more in the Union system. In addition to providing credits, jobs will also reward renown and sometimes resources, consumables, or equipment, depending on your renown rank.

Locations with job boards include:

Ceto

Nephtys Plains Station

Union

Prescott Star🐻base, Noah Damaris Starport, Avonrest

Drake

Letho Starport

Jobs will sometimes appear on your map without even needing to go to the associated station. Just 🐓accept the job on your map to add it to your quest log.

Do Challenges and Increase Renown

Vindicator Travelling Aimlessly in Everspace 2.

Yes, challenges can be hard, but they can also be very lucrative. For example, completing the Outlaw Hunt II challenge rewards you with 8,000 credits, while completing the Advanced Combat🧸 challenge rewards 15,000 credits.

To check on what challenges you've unlocked and see your progress on those challenges, go to the Data tab on the in-game menu screen🌺. This is also where you can col👍lect your rewards whenever you increase your renown rank.

Increasing your Renown will also reward you with both gear and credits, so always answer distress calls and remember to pick up some jobs wherever you can. Completing jobs for any facti𒊎on raises your renown the most while answering distress calls will raise your renown a smaller amount.
