Sony began making systems back in the 90s. People thought they were crazy back then. Could they really compete with Sega and Nintendo and hope to succeed? Well, yes, they did. They released the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation in 1994 in Japan and 1995 in North America.

Not only that, but this actually led to Sega dropping out of the console market. From there, including the PS1, Sony has made ten ꧃devices one could count as either consoles, handhelds, or accessories. There are more, but these ten entries are their main releases. Which among the ten are not the best overall, but best designed? Sony's always done a great job with their brand, and their PlayStation designs are a big reason why.

10 PocketStation

The PocketStation released in 1999, but in Japan only. It was sort of like the Dreamcast’s VMU in that the PocketStation operated like an enhanced memory card wherein gamers could play mini games or check on data. For example, there was a Chocobo mini game that required the device in Final Fantasy VIII. As this was a Japan o꧅nly devi൩ce, it's rather obscure and was ultimately underutilized.

9 PlayStation Move

Compared to the sleek, thin design of the Wii Remotes, or the Xbox 360’s lack of any motion controller in favor of a camera, the PlayStation Move controllers were the weakest of the bunch. They launched in 2010 and have yet to be redesigned. This is incredible because they have been used for the PS4 for motion games like Just Dance along with requiring them for most VR gam🐎es. It’s time to give these lollipops ꧂a rest after a straight decade.

8 PlayStation VR

Speaking of VR, the PS4’s companion launched in 💦2016. It works for the most part and is a cheap way to get people into VR experiences. However, the first and even second iterations still could use some work.

The whole thing feels like a cheap plastic model and the cord situation is kind of a nightma♑re. Hopefully t⭕he PS5 version will get a redesign as well.

7 PSP

The PSP, Sony’s first true gaming portable device, launched first in Japan in 2004 and in North America in 2005. The first iteration was a bulky beast, but the 2000 and 3000 revisions turned the PSP into a sleeker package. Whether one is talking about the bigger original, or the thinner remodels, there are some issues that persisted over ✃both. That is the analog stick which was never comfortable to use. As a first try at a portable though, it was a solid effort.

6 PS1

Original PlayStation Design

The original 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation debuted first in 1994 for Jaꦗpan and 1995 in North America. Both versions we꧑re gray boxes that worked as advertised. Plus, they could play CDs which was a nice get. There isn’t much to say about the console’s design. It’s fine, not exciting, but these models tended to break. If nothing else, the PSOne redesign was much improved with the updated analog controls. The original controllers were more jagged.

5 PS3

When the PS3 was was announced, memes spread online about the thick design. One of them joked that it looked like a George Foreman grill. The price was also controversial when it launched in 2006. These original models were hea🧜vy, somewhat oddly shaped beasts. They added a lot of functionality for the new HD generation, but they took a step back with their first wave of Sixaxis controllers. Who th𒁃ought getting rid of the rumble was a good idea?

4 PS2

The PS2 debuted in 2000 and also had an odd shape. It was like a box on top of another box, almost house shaped. It came with the right set of controllers, which was a major plus for the system. On top of that, the DVD functionality made it one of the cheapest DVD players to get at the time. If one could find them, that is. The icing on the ca♛ke was the backwards compatibility support for PS1 games.

3 PS Vita

PlayStation Vita system handheld console

The PS Vita launched in 2011 for Japan and in 2012 for North America. It was less supported than the PSP by both Sony & third-𝔉party publishers and didn’t last long in the market. That said, it is one of the best designed portable devices out there.

The OLED screen was gorgeous, and the addition of two analog sticks was welcome as🐻 well. The coolest part of the design was internal, making it possible to play PS4 games via Remote Play. It deserved so much more.

2 PS4

The final days of the PS4 are drawing near. However, this 2013 system still has a lot of love to give. The PS🌠1 and PS2 were boxes. The PS3 was a grill, so Sony needed something original to spice things up. Giving the PS4 a rhombus design was a nice touch along with the addition of the touchpad on the controller. It is one of comfiest controllers Sony has ever made.

1 PlayStation TV

Is this number one pick a surprise? It shouldn’t be. Like its counterpart, the PS Vita, this w🌃as an underutilized device. It was basically a way to play most games in the PS Vita’s library on the TV. This inꦍcluded PS1 games. Not only that, but the PSTV supported PS4 Remote Play, making it possible to hook the PS4 up to any TV in the house to keep any gaming session rolling without having to move the console. The PSTV is a tiny, well built box. It launched in 2013 for Japan and in 2014 for North America.
