Game lovers aren't exactly left wanting when it comes to the crime genre, but the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Saints Row series has long stood out 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:amongst that crowded landscape as, if not the best, the weirdest one of them. It's rather conventional in video games to have a narrative about your standard player character going from the bottom rungs of the social hierarchy to the top, but how many actually end with you taking the reigns as President?

Throughout the series, you'll fight gangs, terrorists, aliens, and even the be-all-end-all of villainy: Satan himself. You'll wield guns that fire sonic waves of Dubstep, Shock Paddles usually saved for paramedics, and even be able to sic sharks on folks. In short: it's pretty wild stuff.

Since 2013, the series has been mostly dormant, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:now it's back with a new reboot for the series. Considering the slightly different tone the new game appears to be taking, 🌼you might want to go back and check out the originals in all their colorful glory.

6 💝 Agents of Mayh💞em

Released in 2017, Agents of Mayhem might be the most recent title in the Saints Row universe, but it's hardly the best place for newcomers to the series to start with. In fact, it is arguably a game you could skip altogether. It does have some recurring characters from the main Saints Row series, such as Johnny Gat, Kinzie, and a few others, but otherwise, it has less in common with the main games and more in common with what you'd expect from a number of other uninspired open-world titles.

Sure, it's a cool world and has a fun cartoony vibe, but it misses out on the bombastic satire that is a staple of Saints Row. If that wasn't a deal-breaker, it's also just far too repetitive in its gameplay loop to really be much fun. There is a reason Agents of Mayhem doesn't carry the Saints Row name in its title — it's not as good.

5 🌳 Saints Row: Gat Outta Hell

Saints Row: Gat Outta Hell gets points for both the reference to Meat Loaf's seminal albums and for upping the ante on how bizarre the Saints Row series could get. Otherwise, it isn't the most necessary (or fun) game.

While not a numbered entry in the series, this standalone expansion to Saints Row IV has you play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington as they venture into hell to rescue the main character (who you play as) in all the other games. It's a zany twist on an already outlandish series, but some of the deviations from the formula don't land so well. That said: the hellscape Johnny and Kinzie find themselves in is at least fun to be in for a little while.

4 🥃 Saints Row ജ

The original Saints Row game sets off the story for the third Street Saints game and therefore deserves a decent amount of respect. Nevertheless, even at the time of its release in 2006, it was clear that the game aspired to be like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto without really nailing it.

Still, it set the wheels in motion for what the series would go on to achieve, and also teases the self-referential sense of humor that would become a staple for the third Street Saints game on their way to total world domination. On top of all t🌱hat, the mechanics are competent enough and the game does, at least, set the right tone with a pretty great cast of voice actors.

3 🍒 ⛎ Saints Row: The Third

Saints Row The Third the boss with explosion behind him

Some fans of the Saints Row series might prefer the more grounded beginnings, while others revel in the sheer extremity found in the final entries. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Saints Row: The Third splits the difference. This sometimes works against the game, though, as it comes off as a little less innovative than some of the other games in the series and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the humor doesn't always land so hot.

But all in all, the game manages to be a hodgepodge of pop culture references and send-ups while also rounding out the plot arc started in the original Saints Row. It does feature a rather well-designed open world that is surprisingly uncluttered with rote filler, as well. Oh, and it can't be denied: Saints Row: The Third does have the best opening of all the Saints Row games. If you didn't love where the series went later, Saints Row: The Third does, at least, offer a satisfying conclusion.

2 Saints﷽ Row 2 ꧑

Saints Row 2 Johnny Gat talking to other 3rd street gang members

One could conceivably make a case for Saints Row 2 actually being 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the best in the series: it successfully iterates on its predecessor and e🌜xpands on all of what made that game great while also working to establish the series as distinct in its idiosyncrasies from other comparable titles. It is, indeed, a very good game.

It features a lively world full of as much quirk as there is a crime, while also introducing a slew of the series' most memorable characters. Of all the Saints Row games, Saints Row 2 manages its narrative the best. It's ridiculous, but never too ridiculous.

1 😼 Saints Row IV

Controversial as it may be to place Saints Row IV over Saints Row 2, it's hard to deny that ridiculousness is what the series excels at most. Sure, it's an exponentially more ludicrous story, and that might not work so well for some players, but it's not like these games are aiming to be high art.

They're aiming Dubstep guns instead — in the fourth entry, at least — and that's not even the wildest weapon of the bunch. You can whack someone upside the head with an alien tentacle or shoot black holes at people. How, you might ask? Does it really matter? Saints Row IV is the logical conclusion of all the bombastic chaos the previous games were building towards. You quite literally become the President. You fight aliens. You have superpowers. How else could the series top that?
