Wizards of the Coast has given us our very first look at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic The Gathering's next set, Streets of New Capenna. While this was only a short look, we were introduced to the five demonic crime families we'll be playing as in the art deco-themed set.
Streets of New Capenna isn't due for release until late April, but we've had a few key details confirmed about the set, including how it will be handling the three-colour matters theme. We also got a look at some of the most gorgeous basic lands ever printed for the game.
Streets of New Capenna is set in, of course, New Capenna, an art-deco metropolis built by angels but now run by first demonic crime families. In the sneak preview on the and a Wizards finally outlined all five of the families and confirmed that they will be in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:shard allied-colour identities. The families are:
- Obscura: White/blue/black (Esper)
- Maestros: Blue/black/red (Grixis)
- Riveteers: Black/red/green (Jund)
- Cabaretti: Red/green/white (Naya)
- Brokers: Green/white/blue (Bant)
While we weren't shown much of how each of the families will play differently from each other, it was confirmed that the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cycling mechanic will be part of the set. Specifically, it will be used to complete the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cycle of lands first started in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths' Triomes, which feature the basic land types of all three of its colours and can be cycled to draw a card. For instance, Xander's Lounge is the Maestros' land, has the Island, Swamp, and Mountain land types on it, and can be cycled by paying three mana and discarding it.
We were also shown the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:basic lands of the set, and they are absolutely stunning. The set will feature full-art lands, with two for each colour. Some cards will show the glittering heights of New Capenna in all its art deco glory, while others will focus more on the seedy underbelly of the city bred by the five families. Much like the eternal night lands in the two recent Innistrad sets, these full-art lands will be available in every kind of booster pack, but there are also🌳 normal, framed basic lands mixed in there as well.
One non-land card was shown, Brokers Ascendancy. Brokers Ascendancy is an enchantment that puts a +1/+1 counter on each of your creatures, and a loyalty counter on each of your Planeswalkers, at the beginning of your end step. It's too early to suggest what that means for the Brokers' playstyle, but counters and building your go-wide forces up does seem consistent with what the colours did back in the Shards of Alara block.
One of the set's alternate-art 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:showcase frames was shown off with Brokers Ascendancy. 🐼The Golden Age frame is incredibly art deco, with the geometric shapes, limited colour pallet, and ornately industrial 🌌golden framing,, and looks just fantastic.
Finally, the names of all five of the tie-in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Commander decks were announced. These five decks are filling the role of Commander 2022, in the same way as how last year's Strixhaven commander decks made up the 2021 lineup. The decks are:
- Obscura Operation
- Maestros Massacre
- Riveteers Rampage
- Cabaretti Cacophony
- Bedecked Brokers
Every Commander deck will come with a "Collector Booster Sample Pack" as a new inclusion. These are two-card packs that offer a taste of the kind of cards that can be found in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Collector Boosters, such as altern♑ate art and Com🐭mander-exclusive cards.
Streets of New Capenna will launch on April 28 for digital formats, and April 29 for tওabletop play. The preview season begins on April 7.
