In response to the recent sexual misconduct and pedophilia allega🀅tions against co-founder, Joey Cuellar, Evo has decided to cut ties with Cuellar entirely, noting in a statement that was posted to Twitter that he will no longer be involved with the company “in any cap🔜acity.” The move is effective immediately, with the company relieving Cuellar of any and all responsibilities.
Co-founder Tony Cannon has been appointed as the acting CEO moving forward and will take on more responsibilities both internally within the company as well as at Evo events, though there is no word𓃲 as to whether or not the move is an interi♌m or permanent appointment.
With so many studios - including NetherRealm and Capcom - having already pulled their games from the event in ♏response to Cuellar’s allegations - as well as popular five-time Evo champion, SonicFox, dropping out of the event - the company ꦚhas decided to cancel the Evo Online event entirely, noting that refunds will be issued for those who have already purchased a badge. Additionally, Evo will still donate the equivalent of their proceeds from the event to the global health and humanitarian organization, Project HOPE.
