One of the fun things about second games is that characters from the original often come back to visit, whether they be💞 old, familiar fr🥃iends or mortal enemies. Red Dead Redemption 2 is no different, e𒐪ven if it takes place ten years before🙈 the original.

Some of those old characters have certainly gotten a face-lift in terms of graphics, but how do their personalities hold up? We’re here to answer that question by taking a dive into both games to see how each of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:these Wild West folks has changed with the passage of time. ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ(And watch out—spoilers ah🎀ead!)

Updated on October 11th, 2020 by Josh Davison: Despite the name, Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually the prequel to Red Dead Redemption (which itself is actually a distant sequel to Red Dead Revolver). The stories between the RDR and RDR2 are tightly connected, with the prequel feeding directly into the story of Red Dead Redemption. As a result, many characters appear in both games, and we get to see how these individuals develop over the course of the two games as well as how the world of the dying West has shaped them. RDR2 continues to be a oft-talked about title in the gaming scene, so it's still a good time to dive back into this game and see how the characters of the RDR world changed between 1899 and 1911.

15 🌄Mother Superior Calderon

RDR Mother Superior Calderon

Mother Superior Calderon was still a Sister in the time of Red Dead Redemption 2. She is encountered by Arthur Morgan in Saint Denis and, depending on the actions of Arthur, is encountered again at a train station where Arthur will reveal his illness to Calderon. In Red Dead Redemption, John Marston will encounter her ⭕at Las Hermanas in Mexico wher༺e he will either donate money to her convent or rob her.

She is among the more static characters between the two games, as she remains the morally pure voice of reason and comfort fo🐷r Morgan and Marston as needed. She is a saintly woman, and it makes sense that she became a Mother Superior.

14 Nigel ༒West Dickens

RDR Nigel West Dickens

Nigel West Dickens is the snake-oil salesman of Red Dead Redemption that helps John Marston in his quest to lay siege to Fort Mercer, the hideout of one Bill Williamson. He is a charismatic man, even if every cure-all he sa⛦les is a p🍨ure act of fraudulence. That said, there is something likable about the man nonetheless.

He doesn't directly appear in RDR2, but he is referenced in a newspaper that claims that Mr. Dickens is on a quest to root out "Hippocratic frauds" that are selling, well, fals﷽e cures. It's unclear whether Nigel West Dickens was once an honest doctor or a fraud calling out other frauds as a cover 🅷for his own fraudulence.

13 The Strange Man𓆉 ⭕

RDR The Strange Man

The Strange Man is among the most unsettling side characters of Red Dead Redemption. He mak꧟es several appearances in th💧e first game, seemingly testing the kind of man John Marston is with opportunities of either charity or debauchery. He never gives his name, but the common theory is that he is either God or Lucifer — a strong take, but it illustrates how cryptic the Strange Man is.

His footprint in Red Dead Redemption 2 implies he may be the latter. A shack seemingly belonging to the Strange Man can be found in Lemoyne. Inside, writings mention Armadillo, Herbert Moon, and the ongoing cholera outbreak of New Austin. If John finds the portrait of the Strange Man completed, the Strange Man can be seen in the mirror of the shack watching John. He will disappear before John can turn around. Once you actually make it to Ar🀅madillo, you will find the outbreak has gotten so severe that bodies are being burned in mass pyres in Armadillo's streets. Also, a portrait of the Strange Man can be found in Herbert Moon's shop.

12 🌜 Land꧒on Ricketts

RDR Landon Ricketts

Landon Ricketts is a legendary gunslinger who has grown old by the events of Red Dead Redemption. He helps John on his 🅺hunt for Javier Escuella in Mexico, which leads to John and Landon coming into conflict with the various military forces vying for power in Mexico.

Landon Ricketts is already a legend by the time of Red Dead Redemption 2, appearing on a cigarette card and even name-checked at times by Arthur Morgan and John Marston. That said, he never makes a di꧟rect appearance in the game.

11 𒀰 Bonnie MacFarlane

RDR Bonnie MacFarlane

Bonnie MacFarlane makes a very brief appearance in Red Dead Redemption 2 and is mentioned fleeing New Austin in the wake of the cholera outbreak. She is still wit🍰h her father at the time, and he, deliberately or not, drove a potential suitor of Bonnie's to get himself killed out by Van Horn Trading Post while trying to make money and become worthy of Bonnie.

We don't get to see much of Bonnie's personality in RDR2, but the saga with Bonnie's suitor shows one of the reasons why she remains a bachelorette by the time of Red Dead Redemption despite the conventions of the time period.

10 Herbert Moon 𝓀💜

RDR 2 Herbert Moon

Even though he's just a store owner, Herbert Moon manages to sꦦt🎐ick around in both RDR2 and RDR1. He's a familiar figure, as he runs the General Store that the player frequently 168澳洲幸💞运5开꧃奖网:visits over the course of their travels.

His personality remains the same in RDR1 and RDR2, and it reflects the anti-Semitic attitudes of the time period. His ego is through the roof, as is evidenced by his frequent use of his own name in conversation. Herbert also has a lot of faith in his own theories, and he largely thinks he’s right about everything (even whe🦩n it’💯s clear he isn’t).

9 John Marston

RDR 2 John Marston

Our old protagonist from RDR1, who lets 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Arthur Morgan take the wheel in RDR2. We do get to see how being part of the Van der Linde Gang has affected this much younger John. Unlike the morally-neutral but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:honorable family man we see in RDR1, John is muc♕h colder. He isn’t as devoted to his family, and he struggles to deal with the gang’s influence on him and his morality.

Ultimately, RDR2 tracks his transformation from that bitter young man. Though it may be hard🌸 to reconcile the two game's personalities at first, the evolution we get to see beats out that initial trepidation.

8 Edgar Ross

RDR 2 Edgar Ross

Edgar Ross, or Agent Ross, plays a huge role in RDR1, as he’s the FBI ag൲ent that forces John to track down each former member of the Van der Linde Gang. His presence is still very much felt in RDR2🥂, as he lurks on the sidelines everywhere Arthur Morgan goes.

His personality stays much the same between the two games, which is to 𒊎be expect🃏ed of this underhanded antagonist. He believes wholl🦋y in the law and places himself on a higher moral ꦍpedestal, despite the fact that he holds Abigail and Jack’s potential deaths over John’s head in RDR1.

7 Archer Fordham

RDR 2 Archer Fordham

Fordham is an interesting character, as we see 𝓰much more of him i𒆙n RDR1. However, his cameo at the end of RDR2 points to the events that have yet to pass, 🅘and it certainly sends a chill down o🐭ur spines!

Fordham is Ross' partner, and the two of them work together against John and the rest of the Van der Linde Gang. Though he doesn’t get too much screen-time, Fordham is depicted as uncea🌺singly loyal to Ross ꦫand his mission. He engages in most every action taken against John, but he does show increasing respect for the RDR1 protagonist, unlike Ross.

6 Dutch Van der Li🅘nde 𓄧

RDR 2 Dutch Van Der Linde

Dutch is, and always ꦏhas been, quite the c꧅harismatic fellow throughout the years charted in RDR1 and RDR2. His attempts to form gangs ꧙in both are similar, too. The Van der Linde Gang was formed as a home for outsiders, and Dutch’s Gang in RDR1 seems to have the same intent, albeit with a vendetta against th🦩e government.

His descent into the madness we see in RDR1 is finally tracked in RDR2, where we get to see that transformation from a hopeful but merciless man into a delusional killer. Dutch’s growing awareness of the futility of his actions is something to behold, to say theಞ least.
