Facebook has issued a voluntary recall for the O༒culus Quest 2, citing a "small percentage of users" who are experiencing skin irritation from the foam section of the headset. It seems that sales are also temporarily on hold, although anyone who currently owns a Quest 2 can order a free silicone cover for their headset.

As noticed by , the voluntary recaℱll is happening about a month before an update drops for the Quest 2, offering 128GB of storage compared to the current 64GB models. When they go on sale on August 24, the new units will also reportedly ship with a silicone cover to prevent any skin irritation caused by the foam around the edge of the headset.

"Oculus is conducting a voluntary recall of the Oculus Quest 2 removable foam facial interface in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)," the announcement reads. "We are doing so in response to reports from a very small percentageဣ of users who have experienced skin irritation where the foam portion of the facial interface rests on the skin."

The announcement from Oculus also mentio🌟ns anyone who has experienced "skin irritation or reaction" should immediately stop using the foam facial interface and wait for their silicone cover to arrive.

If you'd like to order your free silicone cover, you'll need to sign in with your Facebook or Oculus ID, then find your Oculus Quest 2 product in the "My Devices" menu, before clicking the "Request Silicone Facial Interface Cover."

Desp𝓰ite the upcoming model carrying twice as much s༒torage as the current Quest 2, the product is said to carry the same $299 price tag as the current inventory on the market. If that holds true, expect the VR headset to sell out faster than it did last time.
