Mark Zuckerburg made headlines last week when he announced his company was going to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:rebrand from just Facebook to Meta. The idea here is that Facebook will remain the social media site while Meta becomes𒆙 the parent company that oversees the new and emerging “metaverse.” Think Ready Player One, but without the full-dive VR suits.
There’s just one🌊 problem: there’s already💦 a company called Meta.
reports that Meta PC was surprised when Facebook rebranded to use its name, especially considering it had already filed a trademark for the name “Meta” last August. Founders Joe Darger and Zack Shutt told the publi☂cation that they’d been operating for just over a year, selling computers, laptops, tablets, and various other PC-related tech stuf🌄f.
Although Meta PC’s trademark hasn’t been officially granted yet, Darꦍger and Shutt have agreed to s꧑ell their name and rescind their trademark request for the low price of $20 million. That’s chump change for Facebook--sorry, Meta, which brought in .
In the meantime, Meta PC is🥀 enjoying a 5000% increase in their social media following thanks to the Facebook rebranding, although that’s undoubtedly due to mistake identity for the most part. That said, people are probably sticking around for Meta’s amusing meme posts, such as this one of and another of Shutt con🥃firming they’ll also to “Facebook.”
It's beginning to look like Facebook didn't do a whole lot of research before rebranding itself to Meta. Turns out that they can't get the Meta handle on either Facebook or Instagram because other users have already taken it. No word yet on how much they’d be willing to sell their handl🦄es, but a few million isn’t likely to phase a company like Meta/Fa🐻cebook.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is reminding us that it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:also working on a metaverse, but it seems to be lagging be꧅hind in ꦑthe VR department.
