The world of Dragon Ball is littered with a number of memorable characters, each with their own personalities, quirks, and abilities, that have endeared them to the fans of the series. After all, without rich and memorable characters, it would've been close to impossible for this series to attain the status of being one of the most famous animated series of all time. Thankfully, with a creative genius like Toriyama at the helm of the character designs, the show was able to make the most of its interesting characters. One such character that evolved from a small kid into one of the most powerful Saiyans of all time has to be Gohan, who has etched his way into the hearts of devout Dragon Ball Z fans all over th꧅e world due to his endearing nature.
While Gohan's appeal might've lessened during the initial moments of Dragon Ball Super, when his power was ridiculously low, it seems that this is not the case anymore. After transforming into his Ultimate form, it seems that Gohan is poised for another breakthrough as a character, similar to his power spikes in Dragon Ball Z. However, don't be fooled by the badass nature of this character — the fact of the matte🙈r is that there are still many dark secrets you don't know about him... yet. Here are 25 of the most obscur💃e facts you didn't have a clue about regarding Gohan.
25 ൩ Gohan Is The Only Person To Become A Su𝐆per Saiyan Out Of Self Loathing
The trademark Super Saiyan transformation has beওcome a staple of the series, and for good reason. Even since the viewers witnesse꧋d this transformation for the first time during the Frieza Saga, it was evident that we were in for a treat. Many of our favorite Saiyans went through this transformation for several reasons...
...but's in Gohan's case, things were a bit different.
Anybody who's seen the anime can vouch for the fact that Gohan was constantly saved by other people time and time again — something that hit Gohan hard during his training with his father. Being helpless every single time was too much for Gohan to bear, who constantly berated himself for not being powerful enough. Thankfully, this train of thought helped Gohan transcend to the level of a Super Saiyan, and also marked the first time ൩that a Saiyan unlocked this power through self-loathing.
24 𝐆 He Was Supposed To Be The Main Character After The Cell Saga
Gohan's presence in the Cell Saga was absolutely formidable, for more reasons than one. After all, he was able to unlock another stage of the Super Saiyan power, whiꦛch ultimately helped him get a leg-up against Cell and defeat him — albeit with some help from the other Z Fighters.
In fact, he was actually supposed to replace Goku as the main character.
After Goku's demise in the Cell Saga, the idea of Gohan becoming the face of the series was seriously considered. However, for some reason, Toriyama decided to drop the idea, and Gohan's only major highlight in the series ended up being his triumph over Cell with perhaps the most iconic Kamehameha of all t♔ime.
Speaking of which...
23 Gohan's Trademark Kamehameha Was Done With One Hand Because His Other One Was Brok💟en
The Father-Son Kamehameha is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and iconic moves in the entirety of Dragon Ball Z, and it's easy to see why this is the case. The sight of Gohan firing off a Kamehameha with one hand while his dad's spirit coaxes him on is an epic sight that few would forget. This different iteration of the Kamehameha can be seen in various games centered around the Dragon Ball universe.
However, most of these depictions forget one major thing.
You see, the main reason why Gohan fired off the Kamehameha with his right hand in the first place wa✅s that his left hand suffered a serious injury as a result of blocking a fatal attack by Cell, that was meant to destroy Vegeta. This inability of not being able to use his left arm lead to a situation where Gohan could only fire off his last Kamehameha with his right hand, resulting in an iconic scene that will be remembered for moments to come.
22 Gohan Does Exhibit The Infamous Saiyan Pride We All K⛄now And Love
Most people would consider Gohan to be a mild-mannered character who pr♛efers to handle things in a non-lethal manner, unless absolutely necessary. However, power can be a dangerous thing i𓃲ndeed, which can be seen when Gohan achieves his Super Saiyan 2 form and attains a power level, unlike anything that had ever been seen before at that point.
But this limitless power awakened the Saiyan arrogance in him.
Instead of dealing with Perfect Cell in quick fashion like he should have, Gohan deౠcided to take his sweet time and inflict the highest degree of pain possible upon Cell. This stubborn need for revenge led to the pointless demise of many characters, including Future Trunks and his own father. If Gohan had dealt with this threat quickly, then these lives wouldn't have been wasted.
It seems that Gohan and Cell were destined to fight for the fate of the universe from the gꦛet-go. We say this because...
21 Gohan Dreamt About ♉Perfect Cell Before The Latter Even Existed
Gohan's training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber proved to be extremely fruitful, since it enabled him to awaken his latent power and achieve the Super Saiyan state 💝for the very first time. However, it seemed that there was still some fear in Gohan's mind when it came to Cell's raw power.
The biggest indicator of this was a weird dream that Gohan had.
In this dream, Gohan can see Piccolo and Chi-Chi come over 🔴to the Time Chamber to check on his progress. However, before they could do so, Cell arrived at the chamber as well, and destroyed both of them. Watching two of the closest people in his life falling at the hands of Perfect Cell was quite disturbing for Gohan — especially since Cell hadn't even achieved his perfect form by that point. How was Gohan able to witness it in a dream?
20 𓆉 Gohan Destroyed A Total Of Eight Cell Juniorsꦦ, Even Though There Were Only Seven Present
Since we're on the reliable topic of continuity errors, here's one of the most infamous ones in the Cell Saga that a lot of keen-s𒐪ighted people have noticed as well.
So, during the Cell Games, seven creatures were spawned by Cell to take care of the Z Fighters. These creatures were called Cel൲l Juniors, and absolutely decimated most of the fighters without much difficulty. However, when Gohan managed to achieve the Super Saiyan 2 powerup, he was able to destroy all the Cell Juniors with ease.
Unfortunately, 🧜it seems that the people behind the anime lost track of how many Cell Juniors had been unleashed upon the Z Fighters. We say t༺his because Gohan is shown to have destroyed a total of eight Cell Juniors, while Cell had only spawned seven. It's a silly mistake, albeit a rather glaring one.
And speaking of mistakes...
19 Gohan's T꧙ail Actually Grew ෴Back
Anyone who is well-versed when it comes to anime can vouch for the fact that fillers are the most annoying thing ever. After all, no one wants to watch non-canon material simply because the manga is going on too slow. This is a problem that Dragon Ball Z experienced, and the filler that was meant to take care of this problem left a glaring hole in the s🐠e♔ries' plot.
Gohan's tail ended up growing back after it was plucked out by Piccolo.
During one of these filler episodes (when Gohan was being trained by Piccolo), Gohan ended up transforming into a Great Ape aft🅺er looking at t💖he full moon, causing Piccolo no end of trouble. Realizing that the tail was bad news, Piccolo removed it. However, since the Saiyan Saga included a scene where Gohan transformed into a Great Ape, the showrunners had to bring this tail back without explaining how.
18 Gohan Is The Only Half-Saiyan Who Was Ab🌸le To Grow A Tail
Since we're already on the topic 🃏of Saiyan tails, it's time to talk about a m൲ajor plot hole that Toriyama probably forgot about.
Unless you happened to forget, let us remind you that Gohan is actually a half-Saiyan🍌 (obviously). He's also the first half-Saiyan that is shown in the series, so it's not really odd that we witness him with a full grown tail.
A tail that is notably absent on the other half-Saiyans.
Yep. For some reason, Gohan was the only half-Saiyan who managed to grow a tail. This growth is notably absent in Trunks and Goten, which can only mean that the Great Ape transformation became nothing more than a relic of Dragon Ball's past.
17 🎃 Chi-Chi Wanted To Name Gohan "Einstien" Or "Archimedes"
It goes without saying that Chi-Chi is one of the most dominating females that you will ever witness. A strong individual who wants her famil🐼y to do well in life (although the manner in which she wishes to achieve it might be questionable), Chi-Chi decided from the moment Gohan was born that he would become a great scholar.
In fact, h༒er obsession with directing Gohan's academic growth the instant he was born was so intense that she initially wanted to name her son "Einstien" or "Archimedes." Thankfully, they decided to name him Gohan instead,🔥 which was obviously a wise decision. After all, Son Einstien would not've fit Gohan's character at all.
But it seems that Chi-Chi was right w👍hen it came to Gohan's intelligence, since...
16 Gohan Could Do Trigonometry At Just Fo♔ur Years Old
The word trigonometry can trigger some highly unpleasant feelings in the minds of anyone who had to deal with the dreaded ꦏsubject of mathematics. It's certainly not an easy topic to digest, and most people would definitely find themselves in a dilemma if they had to tackle any complicated problem that fell under this topic.
But Gohan is definitely not one of these people.
Gohan's IQ is certainly something to fear, and this can be seen in the rather unbelievable fact that he was able to learn and master trigonometry at the tender age of 4. Most kids start off in kindergar🍸ten at this age, but not Gohan — he's already at an advanced level, which is a term that can also be used to describe his fighting skills.
We say this because...
