It's time to settle down and create your base.

You won't start with an energy weapon or find one within your first few hours of gameplay in𝔉 Fallout 76, instead relying on old-school Pipe Pistols and other ballistic weapons. However, once you discover and scrap more guns, your options for how you take on enemies increase expon🍃entially.

What's The Difference Between Ballistic And Energy Weapons In Fallout 76?

There are different types of ranged weapons in Fallout 76, with the two categories being divided into 'Energy' and 'Ballistic' weapons. The difference is fairly simple, with Ballistic weapons firing bullets and Energy weapons firing focused energy.

Ammo of both types can be crafted using a Tinker's Workbench.

Both weapons require ammo to be fired. Otherwise, you'll be using a physical melee weapon to take down your enemies. Ballistic ammo is much more diverse than energy-based weapons, with the latter largely using some form of Fusion Cell to work.

When you craft or modify weapons, the base weapon type should stay the same, but the name of the weapon will acquire modifiers describingꦉ the differeꦓnt attachments or processes added.

This labeling system helps you recognize what a weapon has at a glance before you pick it up.

To learn more recipes for attachments and other modifications to a weapon, make sure you're picking up and scrapping guns left behind by enemies or in the world.

Ballistic Weapons, Explained

Ballistic weapons fire bullets or other projectiles at your opponents, dealing physical damage and a chance to dismember them if the weapon is strong enough. You'll need to make sure you have a steady supply of ammo, w👍hich isn't easy due to the diversity of Ballistic🌱 ammo types.

Ballistic ammo is most useful against creatures and animals that have living parts.
