How To Start The Mother of Invention Quest

From here, you must find and speak with Scribe Valdez to progress further.

The set-up here is simple: Valdez wants to inspect the lower levels of Fort Atlas, but there could be all manner of foul creatures down there, so she en𝔍lists y📖our help, as all NPCs want to do.

Enter the building, then jump down to the lower level of Fort Atlas and make your way to the entrance of the Atlas Subs⛄tructur♛e.

Wait for Scribe Valdez, who will take a second to come inside.

Doubly mysterious, there 🐠is also a minor bug here, which will render you unable to sp✅eak with Valdez.

To solve this problem just exit and enter the Atlas Substructure aga💙in.

Speak to Scribe Valdez to get on with the next part of the mission.

So it's time to figure out what happened down here, and you'll need to collect ATLAS documentation to learn more about the project.

Watch🔥 out though, ༒you'll find several Cave Crickets and other nasty bugs that will attempt to take you by surprise.

You need to find three documents that 🅰discuss the history of the ATLAS substructurℱe.

Luckily, these documents are each given an individual waypoint, so searching for them won't be too difficult.

However, if you need some direction, the reports are in these locations:

• On the cart down the hall after going down the broken stairs.
• Behind the core on a table.
• By some bones from a corpse near the core.

Once you're finished, speak to Scribe Valdez.

If you read the documents you collected, you'll know whatever happened here went badly, and Valdez will now know it too.

How To Help Scribe Valdez

Next, you need to run the diagnostics check. Hea💖d over𒁏 to a Terminal highlighted by a waypoint.

You'll discover you need to test a release valve.

The release valve will be downstairs along with the wiring you're supposed to check - testing it will make it explode. It's probably supposed to do that.

Examine the wiring in the same room as the valve to see that it's been chewed on by creatures.

On that note, watch out for bugs down here.

Upon returning to Valdez, report everything you've learned from the diagnostics terminal, the rel🤪ease valve, and the wiring.

The Ion Focus was misaligned, the release valve exploded, and the wires were chewed.

Next, you'll need to extract components from the ATLAS machines. You'll go through a series of skill checks while removin♎g the components from the various machines.

The ion focus can be removed with Agility 8+, the pressure gauge can use Strength 4+, and finally, the CPU removal asks for Intelligence 8+ - though you won't fail any of these if yo꧑u do lack the necessary skills.

Finally, you must extract the induction coil from the large ATLAS machine, which you can do by cutting one or both of the wires.

You might get a small bit of HP damage here, so make sure y♓ou're not on the verge of death before attempting this.

Also, try swapping the part out with a heavy bag of dirt, Indiana Jones style.

There are a lot of security robots that can be summoned now, so take them all down.
