Ubisoft is reportedly working on two Far Cry games, one being a single-player title that is presumed to be Far Cry 7, and the other reportedly being a standalone multiplayer title set in the Far Cry univ⛎erse.
, the two titles were originally planned as one combined game before being separated into two different projects. One of the reasons cited for this is the departure of ex-Far Cry lead, Day Hay, who joined Blizzard in December 2022. Right now, details on the two games are slim, but we know that the single-player game is in🀅ternally called Project Blackbird and the multiplayer game is referred to as Project Maverick. Insider Gaming’s sources also confirmed heavy involvement from Ubisoft’s Montreal, and that Maverick has changed several times in the past year.
Project Maverick will reportedly be an extraction-based shooter, with mechanics like "permadeath, a backpack system, contracts, and more”. It will also be set in Alaska’s wilderness, which was hinted at in a Ubisoft survey from 2015 asking about the preferred setting of future Far Cry titles. Additionally, characters from older Far Cry games are also slated for a return to the multiplayer title. While speculative, there is some evidence to support it, such as Juan Cortez’s voice actor, Alex Fernandez, with a line hinting towards a multiplaye൩r game.
As for the single-player game, we have little to no information about the story or the setting currently. However, given that both titles originate from the same game, it will likely have an Alaskan setting similar to the multiplayer title. Furthermore, a leak from 2021 also suggested that Far Cry 7 will have a lಌive-service model, but now that﷽ there are tꦉwo different games, it is more likely that the multiplayer game will follow this path like most other titles.
This report comes at a time when Ubisoft 168澳洲幸运5开奖🀅网:recently cancelled three unannouꦉnced projects, to save around $200 million in costs. Far Cry is seemingly one of the few series that Ubisoft deems profitable, however, so it appears to have bee🦂n unaffected by the cu𒅌ts.
