Farfetch’d is finally getting an evolution in Pokémon Sword.

Last week, we got very excited about a leak of what appeared to be an evolution for Farfetch’d. It was a little blurry and a little 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:bit too much like MissingNo for us to feel comfortable, but now we’re certain that it’s an evolution because it’s got a name and a teas🎀er trailer.

It’s called Sirfetch’d, and just like Farfetch’d, it’s a soldierly duck but has now evolved from mere squireꦛ to noble knight.

Farfetch’d is one of the original 151 from Pokémon Red & Blue that quickly became a fan favorite. The idea of a duck wieldiꦰng a leek like a sword was just so adorable! The Pokémon itself didn’t quite live up to its popularity, however, falling well short of other Flying/Normal-types in both offense and defense.

For years, fans have been calling for Farfetch’d to get a much-deserved evolution, and that call only got louder with each 🌳new generation. Other Gen-1 Pokémon got their evolutions, such as Electabuzz, Clefable, Porygon, Magmar, and more, but Farfetch’d was continually passed over even as later-gen Pokémon saw their evolutionary lines fleshed-out.

It’s been 23 years, but Farfeꦡtch’d is finally getting an evolution in the 🌳Galar region.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation, but an earlier leak on 4chan indicates that Sirfetch’d will get the Fighting-type, likely in place of the original Normal-typing on Farfetch’d. 🌟also tweeted out that Sirfetch’d will get the new move Meteor Assault, which is also thought to be a Fighting-typ💦e move that requires the user to recharge on the second round.

The teaser reveals that Farfetch’d will evolve "after experiencing many battles,” which likely just means it will evolve upon reaching a certain level. That’s good news, as needing to find specific items to hold or fighting only at a certain time of day or in certain weather was always a gimmicky mechanic that tu💎rned out to🌞 be a real pain.

Now for the bad news: Sirfetch’d is exclusive to Pokémon Sword only. The good news is that Pokémon Shield will necessarily have something awesome to make up for it, otherwise literally every Pokémon fan in the world will buy Sword over Shield🦄. We🧸 just don’t know what that awesome thing is quite yet.

Pokémon Sword & Shield arrives November 15th.
