Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves - Mai Sh𝓀iranui Guꦉide
Here's how to master Shiranui-style Ninjutsu and devastate your opposition with Mai Shiranui in Fatal Fury: City of ꦬthe Wolve✱s!
Even with the new systems and mechanics at play, it still feels like classic Fatal Fury, even if it does power up the fighters' combat p𓆏rowess tenfold, such as Hokutomaru, who sees a massive boost since his debut in MotW, des☂pite not having access to some key moves that feel crucial in this game!
Hokutomaru Overview
Hokutomaru is a very fascinating character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, due mainly to his unique move list that can make him sort of challenging to get a grasp on. But once you do, you will be soaring to new heights. He's a hyper-aggressive rushdown fighter who has mixes and okizeme pressure for days, making him the king of setting pressure.
However, there is one caveat that may make or break him for you: Hokutomaru doesn't have an uppercut move (reversal), which can be bad for a variety of reasons, but essentially means his anti-air options are more limited. He also loses access to a solid wake-up option to stuff overzealous opponents after being knocked down.
That being said, Hokutomaru is still VERY solid and can be deadly in the right hands. While it will take a bit more time and effort to learn him compared to most of the other fighters, he's remarkably rewarding and dominant in combat. He's not beginner-friendly, but we would still recommend him if you're willing to♐ practice with him!
Hokutomaru Command List
Before springboarding into Hokutomaru's combos, we'd like to tackle his Command List first, as you will be using all these actions during combat and throughout his stylish combos. Though, his variety will be on the lacking siꦏde of things, which is fine, since his speed and agility are off the charts, making him tremendously strong overall.
He has a varied move list with many ways to keep his opponent at bay via shurikens, making up for his lack of an anti-air reversal. While he does not have a dragon punch, he has so many other options that it ends up not being too big of a deal once you get used to his playstyle!

Hokutomaru Combos
With Hokutomaru's Command List taken care of, we can now focus on his combos. However, unlike most of the other fighters, his combos are a bit strange in that he only has one Special Move he can Brake, meaning he only has so many routes aℱvailable when relying on that core combat feature൩.
But, he can cancel many Special Moves into other Special Moves without needing to rely too much on that system, allowing him to still pull off some clever and stylish combos for significant damage. Nonetheless, he is still incredibly potent and only needs a small opening to get in and obliterate his opposition in the blink of an eye!

Hokutomaru Tips And Tricks
Lastly, it's time to send this guide off with a few tips and tricks for Hokutomaru, as he is a very tricky fighter to get the hang of. As you may have noticed from his combos, there's not too much variety on the surface, as his strengths lie in his ability to chain a c.LK into a HP naturally without needing to Feint, giving him a full 🍒combo off a light confirm.
Not only that, but he can also chain together several REV Arts together, which provides him the ability to extend combos without Brakes. While this may seem bad on paper, the mobility and evasiveness of Hokutomaru more than make up for this, allowing him to constantly s🥀tick to his opposition and set up suffocating amo🍒unts of pressure.
Essentially, since beginning a combo with a Light Attack won't have all that great of scaling, you will be relying on his mobility and projectiles to keep your opponent pinned down, allowing you to either punish them when they slip up, or strike when you see an opening.
Being able to control the tempo and spacing of the match is a huge advantage in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and Hokutomaru may very well be the best at doing so. It will just require lots of time and effort on your end to be able⛎ to do it co🌌nsistently and proficiently!
