Despite this year's February Direct being expected this week, we've heard absolutely nothing about it so far and haven't even had confirmation that it's coming at a slightly later date. As it turns out, though, there might be a good reason why it didn't end up happening this week, as it's rumoured to have been pushed back because of Xbox's business update announcement.

, who tweeted about the Direct situation yesterday before the Xbox Podcast was released. Grubb explained that, just like when the Direct was delayed last year due to the Queen's death happening in the same week, Nintendo reportedly decided to push back the February Direct "because" of the Xbox business update.

"I know no one wants to hear this, but just l𒁃ike when the Queen died, this is real: I heard earlier this week that they were discussing moving the Direღct *because* of the Xbox business update".

Grubb does note that he's never been entirely sure of the precise date that the Direct was supposed to drop, but that he's still heard that it was pushed back because of yesterday's Xbox announcement. It's not clear if this is just to give Xbox the chance to share its news, but that seems unlikely considering we previously had a Nintendo Direct and a State of Play on the same day last year.

Instead, it seems likely that the Direct was pushed back because it includes at ཧleast one of the f♔our games that Xbox said it was bringing to other consoles last night. Although Xbox didn't share the names of those four games, they're rumoured to include Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded, which could all be revealed to be coming to the Switch in the next Direct.

Out of those, it seems most likely that either Hi-Fi Rush or Pentiment make an appearance at the February Nintendo Direct, as we already knoꦚw that Hi-Fi is aimin☂g to launch on a Nintendo console thanks to a datamine that revealed some in-game t-shirt꧑s referenci🍒ng the platform.
