EA has been gradually revealing its new FUT Heroes cards during the build to FIFA 22's launch, depicting legendary players as having superpowers in those reveals.

The build to the launch of FIFA 22 is really starting to ramp up with its arrival 🃏rou🦂ghly two months away. As has become the norm for the series in recent years, the feature players will want to know about most is Ultimate Team. The mode allows you to build your own squad from scratch and pit it against solid AI and other player-built teams around the world.

In FIFA 22, you will have an entirely new tier of cards to be on the lookout for. FUT Heroes. Think of them as a slight step down from FUT's elusive Icons cards. Players that aren't necessarily remembered as the best to ever do it, like Maradonna, but helped lead their clubs or countries to huge success. Players like Everton's Tim Cahill and Udinese's Di Natale have already had FUT Heroes cards announced.

As part of its announcements, FIFA has been portraying the legendary players making the cut as superheroes. Freddie Ljungberg, for example, who played a key role for Arsenal during what might have been the most successful time in the club's history. Ljungberg's FUT Heroes reveal art shows him with flame hands, making him the football equivalent of The Human Torch.

As far as we can tell, FUT Heroes won't look like superheroes in-game, nor will they have the powers bestowed on them by FIFA in the reveal art, which is a shame. They will certainly be cards worth having though. Each player will have chemistry with whichever league they were in when they did their best work, so the Premier League for Ljungberg. Plus, chemistry with any players from their home country. All FUT Heroes revealed so far are rated between 85 and 89.

EA hasn't confirmed a launch date for FIFA 22 just yet, but the annual installments of the football sim usually arrive in late September/early October. This year's offering will be the first to include hypermotion, but unlike FIFA 21, those buying the standard edition of FIFA 22 wi🅷ll not be entitled to a free next-gen upgrade.
