The Apollo Nightclub on Brynhildr server is the first club I’ve been to in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 14, and with the pandemic, the first club I’d been to full st⛎op in close to two years. Apollo Nightclub owner Calypso Drake has been a fan of Greek mythology since she was a child, and a huge fan of the likes of Xena: Warrior Princess, hence the name of both her character and the club itself, as well as the club’s usual classic Greek theme. But Apollo Nightclub has something that sets it apart from some of the usual 🍃club scenes in Eorzea — several deity-themed rooms that are set aside for roleplaying.
“Players can expect a very immersive experi🙈ence when they come to Apollo,” Drake says. “Not only with the Greek decor within the venue, but regarding the personal rooms if they want to experience RP i𒁃n one of our many deity-themed dwellings to choose from — all based on a Greek God or Goddess. Hence, Apollo isn’t just a typical nightclub, it is also RP-oriented as well.”
Players can pick from a roster of staff members to sit and roleplay within a host-bar style session, with each staff member having different preferences that you can check out on the . The club also hires DJs for sets, regularly hosts t🐬heme nights, and offers raffle prize opp👍ortunities to its many patrons for some extra fun.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day falls on September 19 each year, but this is the firs🐻t year I’ve actually celebrated it. It just so happened that it fell on the same day that I🃏 attended Apollo Nightclub, so for this particular evening, Drake had dug out the doubloons and plundered loot to re-jig the decor so it was worthy of the finest pirate crew.
Pirates were dancing on mini-stages and all along the balcony while the crowd danced the night away on the main floor as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:DJ Violet Wanda banged out aaarrrr🔥-uably the best pirate tunes around. This special pirate-themed evening was in collaboration with Club Resurrection and Drake explained that this is a ♕regular occurrence.
“We have at least two themed nights a month, one of which𒁏 is usually a collaboration,” Drake tells me. “If the collaboration is housed at Apollo, I usually re-decorate the venue to match the theme.”
Overhauling the decor takes Drake two to three hours, sometimes more if she hasn’t finalised the concept, but the payoff is well worth it. When the venue is known for going above and beyond like that, it’s only nat⭕ural that the patrons do the same. Everyone was dressed to the nines in their most elaborate seafaring getup — in fact, one dapper player was giving me Prince from Purple Rain vibes with his sunglasses and white neck scarf with a black jacket combo.
Pirate slang filled the chat and the staff ♏were roleplaying their hardiest pirate portrayals. The crew at the bar were handing out special event menus for the night — which were links to actual menus you could peruse for ordering drinks. Their commitment to the roles and the attention to detail was enough to shiver the timbers of even the grumpiest of guests and ge🉐t them all in the grog swillin’ mood.
One generous patron even bought out the bar f๊or the evening so everyone could enjoy free drinks. Drake tells me a bar buyout costs a cool 1 mil of Gil, which she then splits among the staff.
The idea for the Apollo Nightclub first started in January of 2021 when Drake was working as an in-game designer, taking commissions for designed Free Company houses. Fortunately, her decision to build a club coincided with a friend of herꦐs no longer needing their FC house and so it was that Apollo was born.
“I noticed how some of my friends were also in the RP scene, something of which I had yet to experience even though I had been playing for almost two years at that point,” Drake explains. “My friends had taken me to a few nightclubs, and it continued to pique my interest, especially with the design aspect around the venues. Thus, I challenged myself to design a venue of my own; especially with a theme that I did🌞 not see at the other venues. I wanted my venue to be unique, and have personal rooms that were very well decorated and where the patron could truly have an immersive experience.
“At the time, I also had a partner who was also taking this journey with me. As I did the finishing touches on the venue, I welcomed club owners who had be🐻en in the venue scene for a whi🔥le, to come to critique my work. As I got positive reviews, they encouraged me to take it to the next step and make it an official venue. I was very fortunate to have a lot of help from the community so Apollo could take off, including all of the backstage work that needed to occur, such as hiring staff, schedules, and finances.”
Since undertaking my weekly community spotlight articles for Final Fantasy 14, I have lamented on many occasions that I am stuck on a newly-rolled character created for the sole purpose of visiting different people. More often than not, I hate being unable to take part in the themed evenings due to my lack of clothing opt🔯ions, but꧟ being stuck with my solitary base dance emote was particularly frustrating this time around.
I did join in the merriment in my Tantalus gear — the most piratey thing I had on that character — and danced a little, but I’d love to visit again with Data Center trave𝓰l opens up to really bust a move my full roster of dance emotes on my main character.
I’m not the only one looking forward to Data Center travel either. It’s clear from the numb🎐er of wanderer players — players from other servers — that the Apollo Nightclub is a popular hotspot, so Drake wants to open Apollo’s doors to even more patrons.
“I am very much so looking forward to the other data centers being o༒pen to visit Apollo,” Drake says. “I truly want to get rid of the negative stigma where if venues are open on the same days and times, that they are in competition. In reality, we are a com𝓰munity! And especially once cross-world travel happens, there will be even more opportunities for more players to enjoy all of the clubs that Crystal has to offer, despite being open at the same time.”
In fact, Drake has plenty of plans for the future for players to look forward to. In addition to plans for opening some of the smaller rooms as gaming rooms, such as for a bowling alley and casino, more themed nights are in the works. A Harry Potter collaborative theme night is on the horizon, as well as a special Halloween event too. To keep up to date with the Apollo Nightclub, you can♉ check out their website or join their .
