As previously mentioned, the Dark Knight class was first introduced in the Heavensward expansion, and with it came a whole new questline. 🔜This questline was written by the one and only Natsuko Ishikawa. , which likely contributed to her becoming the main scenario writer for the Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker expansions. Additionally, she also wrote the lyrics for the song "Tomorrow and Tomorrow" for Shadowbringers. If that wasn't already impressive enough, Ishikawa was also one of the main writers for the Eorzea Encyclopedia series, which goes over the lo🌄re of Final Fantasy 14.
8 🌊 It Was The Third Tank Class The Warrior Of Light Possessed In Trailers
While the Warrior of Light that appears in CG trailers was shown using the Gladiator and Warrior classes, he was shown to have obtained the Dark Knight class in the Shadowbringers trailer after cycling through al😼l the other classes that had been available up to that point. The trailer for Endwalker has the Warrior of Light changing to the Paladin 🥀class as a homage to Final Fantasy 4's protagonist Cecil Harvey, who is a Dark Knight at the beginning of the game but eventually becomes a Paladin instead.

At level 50, Dark Knights gain a skill known as Living D👍ead. This skill will prevent death after being activated, and the Dark Knight who cast it will gain the Walking Dead status and have only one health point remaining for 10 seconds. Within these 10 seconds, the Dark Knight must have one hundred percent of their health replenished, or else they will end up dying anyway. A helpful sk🎶ill when facing bosses with powerful attacks that are difficult to avoid, as long as the healer is skilled enough to fully replenish the Dark Knight's health.
6 ౠ Some Poses Are Inspired By Cloud Strife
Several of the poses that Dark Knights have in Final Fantasy 14 were inspired by everyone's favorite spiky-haired brooding hero, ℱCloud Strife. If their weapon is drawn, the idle pose for male Dark Knights will similarly have their weapon over their shoulder. The victory pose for Dark Knights is also animated the same way that Cloud's is in Final Fantasy 7, with them skillfully swinging their weapon before placing it over their shoulder.
While Cloud himself isn't technically🌟 a Dark Knight, his giant buster sword and brooding attitude do give him some similarities to characters in other Final Fantasy games that officially have the class.

At level 70, Dark Knights learn a technique called The Blackest Night, which is one of the best mitigation skills in Final Fantasy 14. This is because The Blackest Night creates a barrier that absorbs damage that totals a whole quarter of the target's HP, which is typically the player who cast it. Once the barrier has been completely absorbed, it grants the use of Dark Arts, which allows the player to use abilities that increase the po♒tency of their attacks, providing a counter offense on top of its defensive use. This skill is most useful against powerful attacks of challenging bosses but can be helpful in several other situations as well.
4 ꦡ They Can Summon A Shadow Version Of Themselves
The dungeons in Final Fantasy 14 may rely on the four different roles of a party, but sometimes the best ally is a copy of yourself. At level 80, once their inner darkness has been conquered and their questline in Shadowbringers has been finished, Dark Knights learn a technique called Living Shadow, which temporarily summons a simulacrum, or shadow version, of the individual who cast it. The Souleater skill Dark Knights obtain in Final Fantasy 14 is based on several similar abilities 🎀also previously localized as Soul Eater, among several other names. In other Final Fantasy games, this ability usually involves the player giving up some HP for more powerful attacks. In Final Fantasy 14, however, Souleater heals the player by a small amount and adds 20 blackblood to the Blood Gauge in addition to causing damage to the target and can deal even more damage when it's part of a combo with the Sy🎃phon Strike skill. It may be different from similarly named skills, but being able to heal and cause damage simultaneously is definitely beneficial.
