Eorzea is the main realm players travel through in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 14. The Twelve are widely regarded as the patron deities of Eorzea, and her people can be found worshipping different gods in different areas of the realm. While little is known about these deities, they are referenced frequently throughout main♌ and side-story quests in the game. When you create your Warrior of Light, you are asked to align yourself with one of the Twelve, although this decision has no impact on the story of the game.

Who Are The Twelve?

sanctum of the twelve in the twelveswood

The legend goes that in ancient Eorzea, Twelve beings came to the land and ruled over it benevolently until five wandering tribes appeared, the Hyur, Miqo'te, Lalafell, Roegadyn, and Elezen. Putting faith in the tribes' collective resourcefulness and resilience, the Twelve entrusted the land to the five races, opting to become patron deities of certain Eorzean city-states.

The Twelve are aligned in pairs, each assigned to one of the six elements and 12 moons. For example, Byregot, the Builder, commands the element of lightning, while presiding over the Fourth Astral moon, or the seventh mon🌜th of the calendar. Little is known about the Twelve, and until recently, it was unclear whether the Twelve were actual gods who ruled in ancient Eorzea, or were simply mythos created by the people to explain the realm's early history.

Through the Myths of the Realm Raid series, we have learned much more about the Twelve, including their true nature, history, and purpose.

Shortly after the Sundering, the event that left the planet of Etheirys split into its Source and Reflections, Hydaelyn created 13 beings to help guide the fledgling races of the planet. These 🐈beings be🍬came known as the Twelve, with the Thirteenth remaining on the moon to keep watch over Zodiark's seal.

The Twelve were tasked with keeping the balance between the races of Eorzea and the stability of the planet itself, presidin♏g ov꧟er each of the facets of life like the mountains, sea, and sun.

Like all good mythological pantheons, many of the Twelve are related by blood or bond. Below you can find each of the Twelve, their element, moon, and a brief descrip🐟tion including their relationship and duty.

What Is The Twelve's Goal?

rhalgr, byregot, and nald'thal in the omphalos aglaia raid

Originally, the Twelve were created to ensure the survival and stability of man. While they have wills and hopes of their own, they are also susceptible to the wishes of the people; prayer over time can alter their original appearance, objective, and personality. Knowing this, the Twelve created an epitaph in the phantom realm of Omphalos to record their original aims.

Over time, as mankind became more self-sufficient, their aid was no longer as necessary, and the Twelve withdrew into the background, opting to watch Eorzea's growth from afar. During this time, without their direct involvement, the Twelve were changed slightl🤡y by the wishes of mankind, who prayed for the gods to be as they needed them, rather💧 than what they actually were.

This is how the Twelve remained until the events of Endwalker, where the Warrior of Light prevents the Final Days and saves Etheirys. Realizing that the realm was in good hands, the Twelve decided their role had been fulfilled, and endeavored to return to the Lifestream, essentially retiring from their posiℱtions as gods.

Before they could return to the Lifestream, the Twelve needed to dilute their powerful stores of Aether. They do t✨his by fighting against the Warrior of Light, which sufficiently drains their Aether enough to al🀅low them back into the Lifestream.

Who Is Deryk?

the god of wanderers, oschon

Deryk is a Hyur who introduced the Warrior of Light to the Myths of the Realm quests, and is a self-described wanderer. In the Thaleia raid quests, we learn that Deryk's true form is Oschon, the Wanderer, and one of the Twelve.

Unlike the other gods and goddesses of the Twelve, who hid among mankind using an animal familiar, Oschon took the form of a Hyur, roaming around the land to better understand mankind𓃲's desire for solitude.

As Deryk, he essentially lures the Warrior of Light into Omphalos so that the Twelve may complete their plan. However, as the other members of the Twelve return to the Lifestream, Oschon decides to remain behind, using a small amount of Aether to ♑take the form of Deryk once again. In this form, Deryk would live ou🅷t the rest of his life as a mortal.

Are The Twelve Primals?

Menphina, the lover, one of the twelve deities in Final Fantasy 14

In the Shadowbringers main story, we learn that Hydaelyn and Zodiark, who were once thought to be the opposing godly forces of light and shadow, are actually Primals. Primals are incredibly powerful beings that are summoned through the prayer of certain groups of people, using the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:power of crystals. Through these r𝐆ituals, mortals are able to manifest their hopes and prayers into a single being, known🀅 as a Primal.

At first, this sounds strikingly similar to how the Twelve function; the prayers of mank🥂ind are able to change not only their perception of the Twelve but literally how they act upon the world.

However, despite sharing many similarities with the Primals of Etheirys, the Twelve are not Primals. The Twelve were created by Hydaelyn, not summoned by Eorzeans, meaning they have their own free will. ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ🍰Though they may be altered by the wishes of mankind, they are free to act how they please, unlike Primals.

amaurot, home of the convocation of the fourteen

One popular theory surrounding the Twelve is their relation to the Convocation of the Fourteen. The Convocation was the governing body of Ancient Etheirys, whose main base of operation was the city of Amaurot. Rather than a set group of Fourteen individuals, the seats of the Convocation were instead held by title, which was passed down to each successor of that seat.

When the individual duties of a member of the Convocation were complete, they would return to the aetherial sea, passing their mantle to their successor. As a council, the Convocation of the Fourteen ruled Etheirys with their powerful creation magicks but was ultimately destroyed in the summoning of Zodark and Hydaelyn.

After the summoning of Hydaelyn, or rather Venat's transformation into Hydaelyn, the world was raw and in need of healing. To protect the new races that were emerging and wandering the land, Hydaelyn created the Twelve and the Thirteenth Watcher on the moon.

To do this, she reincarnated Ancients who supported her during the Sundering, some of whom may have been members of the Convocation.

So, to summarize, the Convocation of the Fourteen does not directly translate to the creation of the Twelve, although 🐲some members may overlap. However, there is no significance in which members we⛄re reincarnated, so ultimately the relationship doesn't mean much.

azeyma the warden, third boss of aglaia raid

One popular theory that led to players thinking the Convocation and Twelve were related is the similarity between the Ancient Azem and the goddess Azeyma. Both of these beings are associated with the sun, have ad𝓡venturous spirits, and their names are quite simila🍸r.

While this connection is pretty convincing, the two aren't actually directly related. Rather, the being who was reincarnated into the goddess Azeyma was a supporter of the seat of Azem, and looked up to both Venat and Azem. However, before this Ancient could take the seat of Azem, the Sundering occurred. This Ancient was reincarnated into the goddess Azeyma, which is why the two share many qualities.

Who Is The Thirteenth God?

The Watcher and Argos looking at etheirys from the moon

The Omphalos monument also revealed the existence of a 13th, unnamed god, who was charged with watching over all, until the end.

Before the Thaleia raid quests, there were several theories as to who this Thirteenth god was, with G'raha Tia's in-game theory being the most plausible. He recognized the similarities between the description of the Thirteenth god and the unnamed Watcher on Mare Lamentorum.

During the Thaleia raid quests, G'raha Tia's theory was confirmed as the Warrior of Light and allies went to the moon to talk to the Watcher. He confirmed that he was also created by Hydaelyn along with the Twelve to watch over and protect mankind.
