I’m not much of a chef. That’s actually an understatement - I can’t even boil an egg. Despite this, I have recently become an avid watcher of a cooking stream. You see, I have just discovered the joys of Lemon Drop’s 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 14-themed stream, A Recipe Reborn.
Like many games, Final Fantasy 14 features a variety of in-game food that is used as a consumable. In fact, some are also furnishings that you can use to decorate your Free Company house or room. These virtual dishes range from fantastical dessert creations to hearty savoury dishes, with meals influenced by all the different regions of Eorzea. Lemon Drop streams three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12 pm EDT/ 9 am PDT - and recreate🔯s some of these wonderful dishes in the real world.
Lemon Drop is a biracial Asian-Canadian culinary arts student who studies a🐷nd cooks from within the comforts of her own home with her little dog Kupo keeping her company. In the world of Eorzea, she mains Black Mage but naturally has Culinarian leveled too. She started her A Recipe Reborn stream in April of 2019 on YouTube but switched to Twitch about five months ago where her popularity has recently landed her partner status.
“I chose YouTube at first because I didn't like the idea of being on camera, plus it was something I could do part-time while I worked,” 🔯Lemon Drop explains. “I've been an avid viewer on Twitch since 2018 and over time I found t🐈hat the FF14 community is much more cohesive, whereas, on YouTube, communities are more separate.
“At school, I gained the knowledge and confidence to be able to explain as well as demonstrate and I thought it would translate well to Twitch. I love being able to directly answer cooking quest🐽ions as well as learn from viewers. The exchange of information and ideas is so much more free and flowing, and I have the chance to get to know people better.”
Lemon Drop first learned how to cook by helpin🥃g her dad in the kitchen𝄹 and baking with her grandparents. Though discouraged to go into the Baking and Pastry arts degree program she originally wanted to attend after high school, despite trying different careers, Lemon Drop found her way back to cooking and her hobby has turned into a true skill.
“My partner encouraged me to do it a long time ago and being a private person, I wasn't keen on being on camera or opening up my life to the internet, so I put the idea away for a while,” Lemon Drop tells me. “Many other creators have done similar ﷺwork so I was inspired by blogs. I figured I wanted to make the food from the game for myself to expand꧟ my palate and skill, so why not share with others?”
The great thing about A Recipe Reborn is that it isn’t just another cooking how-to. Though Lemon Drop creates amazing food throughout the steam, there’s also a feeling of familiarity and comradery as she shoots the breeze with all of her viewers. It’s like a chat show cooking program combo that works particularly well - it’s Sunday Brunch via Eorzea. Her rapport with her viewers is infectious - you can’t help but feel like one of the crew from the very first stream you watch. Since re-launching on Twitch, Lemon Drop has had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the Final Fantasy 14 communityꦰ.
“I posted that I would be relaunching in April and in the weeks leading up to it, I posted pictures of my creations from culinary school,” Lemon Drop says. “I expected the turnout to be small, maybe 10-20 viewers. My first stream averaged 76 viewers. Since then, the community has grown by the thousands over multiple platforms and the number one piece of feedback I hear is gratitude for creating a comfortable inclusive space f🐠or people to learn, relax and talk about two of their favourite subjects - food and FF14.”
Lemon Drop dedicates one day each week to researching recipes and making shopping lists so that she can create the perfect dishes. Though Final Fantasy 14 uses a range of fantasy foods, Lemon Drop explains that real-lifཧe equivalents are easily found and that fortunately, she lives in a diverse city with lots of ingredients on offer.
The first of Lemon Drop’s streams that I tuned into saw her re-c♋reating the Shakshouka Pot furnishing. This was the second time she created a Shakshouka dish from Final Fantasy 14, as she previously made Stormblood’s Shakshouka consumable. “The first shakshouka was one of my earliest videos and before I started culinary school,” She tells me. “The pork I used in the Stormblood version was very lean and lacking in flavour, whereas the lam𝔉b I used this past week brought it to the next level.”
Most impressively, it’s not just the taste Lemon 🧸Drop strives for - she recreates each dish visually and pays attention to every last detail, aiming to replicate the in-game appearance as closely as possible🔜. Depending on which dish she is creating, this isn’t always easy to achieve.
“Things that degrade quickly like frozen items, Costa Del Hielo, for example, are difficult because the window to get a photograph is very small,” She explains. “Soups are also a challenge because they often need careful styling and propping to float ingredien💖ts on the surface. Fortunately, styling is one of my favourite parts of creating food media. It's very detailed, fussy work that I can zone into for hours.”
Some dishes are naturally easier to cook than others, hardly surprising considering some of the elaborate Final Fantasy 14 dishes that Lemon Drop has recreated. “Chocorpokkur truffles,” Lemon Drop tells me when asked what the most difficult dish has been so far. “For fun, I wanted to make ꦅa truffle out of Butterfingers in the shape of the mount. I have the least amount of experience with chocolate work and confections so those streams are usually very long. It took me two tries/streams to get th✱em right. I push myself to do sweets every week aiming to improve and I really enjoy the challenge, plus working with dough is very relaxing for me.”
If you want to check out Lemon Drop’s A Recipe Reborn stream, you can find her on three times a week or stay up to ♋date by following her on . You can also find recipes on her if you fancy trying to create your own Eorzean dish.
If you’re not sure where to start, Lemon Drop has the perfect suggestions for novic🧜es. “For baking, I would recommend Pixie apple pie,” She says. “Yes, it uses frozen puff pastry but as long as you move fast and keep the pastry cold, it's a simple recipe with few ingredients. For something savoury, I recommend shakshouka, farmer's breakfast, and Doman rice balls. They're all recipes with few ingredients and can be done in one pot.”
