How To Unlock Tender Valley
To unlock Tender Valley, you'll first need to complete the level 100 Main Scenario Quest 'Dawntrail'. Once you've done that, you can accept the followinဣg quest.
-
Quest Name: It Belongs in a Museum
- NPC Location: Zeycihan - Tuliyollal (X:14.0, Y:12.5)
Zeycihan is located just south of the main Aetheryte in Tuliyollal. Talk to him to accept this quest, then followജ him to Shaaloani to unlock Tender Valley.
Barreltender
The first bossꦚ of T🐈ender Valley is the Barreltender. Its attacks and mechanics are detailed below.
Attack Name |
Type |
Details |
---|---|---|
Barbed Bellow |
Roomwide AoE |
Deals damage to all party members. Use AoE healing to recover. |
Heavyweight Needles |
AoE |
The Barreltender will leap to the center of the arena before attacking in a series of conal AoEs from itself. However, at the last moment, these AoEs will slightly change in size, further reducing the safe area. When positioning yourself to avoid these AoEs, keep in mind that they will become larger than they initially appear.
|
Tender Drop |
AoE |
The Barreltender will fling cacti around the arena, some with flowers and some without. After a short delay, these will grow in size before exploding in a circular AoE. The cacti with flowers will have a much bigger AoE than the ones without flowers. |
Barrel Breaker |
Knockback |
Just before the cacti from Tender Drop explode, the Barreltender will perform a knockback from the center of the arena. Position yourself so that you are pushed near one of the cacti without flowers, as this is where the safe areas will be. |
Succulent Stomp |
Stack Marker |
Targets a random player with a Stack Marker. Group up to spread out theꦓ damage of this attack. |
Prickly Left/Right |
AoE |
The Barreltender will begin charging up this attack, which will then indicate the left or right side of the arena as an AoE. However, at the last moment, similar to Heavyweight Needles, the AoE will increase in size again, now covering the majority of the arena with a safe spot in a sliver on the opposite side. Move to the exact opposite side of the boss's attack to avoid taking damage. |
Tender Fury |
Tankbuster |
Deals high damage to the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns. |
Tender Drop/Heavyweight Needles |
AoE |
The Barreltender will combine the effects of Tender Drop with Heavyweight Needles, with Heavyweight Needles happening a split second before the cacti explode. To avoid this combo, you'll need to find the safe spot from the conal AoEs, then quickly get into position to avoid the cacti explosions. |
The Barreltender will repeat these mechanics until it is defeated. Tender Drop is the attack that is most likely to catch you off guard because it can be difficult to spot the "safe" cacti💟 in time. If you're finding this mechanic difficult to avoid, when the Barreltender flings its cacti, stop what you're doing and observe the arena.
Paying closer attention to each mechanic will help you get a better under🌠standing of how they work, leading to a more successful encounter.
Anthracite
The second boss of Tender Valley is Anthracite. This boss will use various attacks that interact with the arena. Specifically, pay close attention to the blue and red chutes that line the floor of the arena and the pipes that each leads to.
Attack Name |
Type |
Details |
---|---|---|
Anthrabomb - Black |
AoE |
Anthracite will target the arena with black arrows; it will then toss bombs to these locations that will soon explode in a point-blank AoE. |
Anthrabomb - Yellow |
AoE |
Anthracite will use a yellow arrow to throw a bomb into one of the four holes around the arena. Then, this bomb will explode, with the explosion carrying through the chutes that the hole is connected to, creating l🅷ine AoEs from the wall♑s on one side of the arena.
|
Carbonaceous Combustion |
Roomwide AoE |
Deals damage to all party members. Recover with AoE healing. |
Carniflagration |
AoE/AoE Markers |
A combination of black and yellow-arrow Anthrabombs three times in a row. On the third set of Anthrobombs, all players will be targeted with AoE Markers. Spread out to avoid overlapping these while avoiding𒁃 the final set of ꦰexplosions. |
Burning Coals |
Stack Marker |
Immediately after the AoE Markers of Carniflagration resolve, one random player will be targeted with a Stack Marker. Group up to spread out the damage o🐭f this atta꧃ck. |
Chimney Stack |
Tankbuster |
Deals high damage to the Tank. |
The Greatest Serpent Of Tural
The fi🎉nal boss of Tender ⭕Valley is the Greatest Serpent of Tural. Here are each of its mechanics.
Attack Name |
Type |
Details |
---|---|---|
Dubious Tulidisaster |
Roomwide AoE |
Deals damage to all party members while covering the edge of the arena in spikes that will inflict Bleeding. |
Bouncy Council |
Summon/AoE |
Summons four untargetable Serpents that will then start rocking back and forth, indicating the direction of their following line AoE. Look at the direction of each Serpent, specifically the blue arrows projecting from them, and move accordinglyജ to avoid all four line AoEs. The second use of Bouncy Council will summon three Serpents that will instead use point-blank AoEs, indicated by the blue lines that rotate around them. Move 🎀to the corner of the arena tha⛎t doesn’t have a Serpent to avoid. From the third use of Bouncy Council, these two types of AoEs will be combined. |
Screes of Fury |
AoE Tankbuster |
Deals high damage in an area surrounding the Tank. Move away from the rest of 🉐the party while using defensive cooldowns to mitigate this da🍰mage. |
Greatest Labyrinth |
Special |
The Greatest Serpent will cover the arena in arrow tiles that will move you in the indicated direction when stepped on. Three of the four corners of the arena will be marked with purple "X" tiles that will inflict Poison, while the fourth corner will be a blue "O" tile. Additionally, all players will be inflicted with Greatest Curse that lasts for 15 seconds. When this debuff expires, you will be instantly killed. To avoid this, you’ll need to move along the arrow tiles to reach the blue "O" tile that will cleanse the Greatest Curse.
|
Moist Summoning |
Summon/Stack Marker |
Summons an untargetable Great Serpent of Tural that will then target one player with three Stack markers back-to-back. These will also leave behind a puddle of goop, which will inflict the Sludge debuff, dealing damage over time, if you remain in the puddle for too long. All players should group together and move around the arena to resolve each Stack mark🐠er without standing in the pu🌞ddles. |
Greatest Flood |
Knockback |
Knocks back all players from one corner of the arena while clearing away the goop puddles. Position yourself so that you aren’t knocked into one of the puddles before it disappears, while also making sure you aren’t knocked into the edge of the arena where the Bleed AoE still lingers. |
Great Torrent |
AoE/AoE Markers |
The Greatest Serpent will create sequential circle AoE Markers starting in one corner of the arena and spiraling into the center. Stay near the center of the arena then move into the safe area created when the first AoE explodes. Immediately after these circle AoEs resolve, all players will be targeted with AoE Makers; spread out to avoid overlapping these. |
The most dangerous mechanic here is Greatest Labyrinth, as failing to cleanse the debuff will result in instant death. 💝However, once you get the hang of tracking the path to the cܫorrect tile, this mechanic becomes much easier.
Additionally, Bouncy Council will only get more difficult as the fight progresses, with its final version summoning five Serpents that will either perform point-blank or line AoEs. Watch these carefully to fi꧑nd the safest spot to move.
