Gunbreaker is one of the most engaging jobs to play in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 14's current PvP offerings, providing players with access to a wide ran🌱ge of offensive skills and utility. 🐓Using their gunblade and a selection of buffs, Gunbreaker can turn the tides of even the most dire PvP situation.
With the right rotations and strategy, Gunbreaker can be a versatile and essential member of a party in any of the game’s selection of PvP modes, with valuable high-potency DPS combos and a lot of HP for absorbing damage. In additi𒉰on, the unique junction system allows the Gunbreaker to respond to situations with immediacy using three different types of support skill.
As of Patch 6.1, Gunbreaker is more accessible than ever to play and master in PvP, and playing it from the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PvE version of the class requ🥀ires only ൲a slight adjustment to your usual gunblade strategies.
PvP Job Actions
Gunbreaker’s PvP job actions represent more basic but more powerful versions of the job’s PvE skills. In PvP, you don’t need to worry about maintaining your powder gauge, but many of the basic abilities and how you progress through them in the form of your basic rotation remain the same as the PvE version of the class.
Amongst Gunbreaker’s PvP actions, you’ll find attacks that will be strung together as part of the job’s two basic combos, Solid Barrel and Continuation, as well as several essential oGCD (off global cooldown) abilities to be used in between the various weaponskills. If you’re familiar wi꧟th playing Gunbreaker in PvE, adapting to their PvP skills shouldn’t be too diffi𒐪cult.
The key difference comes in the form of the Junction system, which allows you to draw additional power from the enemy using the gunblade. This gives you a small but important passive buff, depending on the role of the enemy you junction from. It also allows you to create three new skills depending on the type of enemy you ‘draw’ from. Junctioning from a DPS character allows you to use the skill Blasting Zone, drawing from a healer allows you to use Aurora, whilst drawing from a tank allows you to use Nebula.
Gunbreaker’s PvP Job skills allow them to do a lot of damage to a single target rather quickly, but they’re also fairly effective at thinning down the enemy teams using their two high-potency AoE skills. The AoE skill Double Down — which does a noticeable 12,000 potency — works nicely with their Limit Break skill Relentless Rush/Terminal Trigger, which does 4,000 potency damage over time in addition to a 12,000 potency finisher when Terminal Trigger is activated.

Rotations
Gunbreaker’s PvP rotation is all about staying consistent with the job’s two primary combos: the Solid Barrel Combo and the Gnashing Fang Continuation Combo, which can and should be combined for maximum effectiveness. Beyond this, you can weave in the AoE attacks Double Down and Relentless Rush to sow chaos amongst the enemy team a🌼nd use the Junction skills to support yourself and y♌our team.
On its own, the Solid Barrel combo is four weaponskills, which upon completion grant the buff Ready To Blast. This allows you to use the skill Hypervelocity — one of the many forms of the skill Continuation).
On its own, it progresses very simply, using only two buttons and five button consecutive presses. This is the foundation on which the rest of Gunbre🅷aker operates:
Keen Edge > Brutal Shell > Solid Barrel > Burst Strike > Hypervelocity |
You can also use the Solid Barrel Combo first and then transition seamlessly into a Gnashing Fang Continuation Combo after activating Hypervelocity. This involves using all the versions of Gnashing Fang and the various skills that Continuation appears as between each weapon skill, like this:
Keen Edge > Brutal Shell > Solid Barrel > Burst Strike > Hypervelocity > Gnashing Fang > Jugular Rip > Savage Claw > Abdomen Tear > Wicked Talon > Eye Gouge |
After reaching Eye Gouge, this is when you can either jump into your AoE Limit Break finisher by using Double Down then Relentless Rush (explained below) or return to the So♕lid Barrel combo to continue giving consistent DPS.
If you want to launch into a slightly more damaging end point of the Solid Barrel Combo as soon as you engage your enemy, this can be done using the Draw and Junction skill, which as well as giving you the passive buff and one of three potential skills in the form of Nebula, Aurora or Blasting Zone, will also give you the Powder Barrel buff, which allows you to immediately activate Burst Strike and then Hypervelocity.
For this reason, Draw and Junction can be a reasonable starting point for your Gunbreaker rotation, as in addition to the valuable passive buffs provided and allowing you to skip to Burst Strike it also creates some equally valuable skills: Nebula (20% damage decrease and 3,000 potency attack), Aurora (Regeneration based heal) and Blasting Zone (10,000 potency instant attack).
The Solid Barrel Combo and Continuation in combination with gap closer Rough Divide, the AoE skill Double Down and the Junction Cast sy🔜stem ensure that you always have something to do whilst playing as Gunbreaker in PvP.
When you’re not using one of your higher potency skills or you’re waiting for Gnashing Fang’s cooldown, you should be using the Solid Barrel Combo. When you’re not dealing damage, you should be looking for opportunities to jump in with Rough Divide or draw from a🦹n enemy u🥃sing Draw and Junction to develop one of several potential openers.
A complete rotation m꧋ight look like this, though it’s important to stay flexible:
Draw and Junction > Rough Divide > Burst Strike > Hypervelocity > Gnashing Fang > Jugular Rip > Savage Claw > Abdomen Tear > Wicked Talon > Eye Gouge > Double Down > Relentless Rush |
This type of rotation would give you a Junction skill before engaging the enemy to keep as a backup option during the encounter whilst also skipping the early part of the Solid Barrel Combo with the buff granted by Draw and Junction. After this, you progress through the combos provided by Gnashing Fang and Continuation, then finish off with Double Down and Relentless Rush in quick succession.

General Strategy
Although Gunbreaker is a tank in PvE, in Final Fantasy 14's suite of PvP modes, everyone should be a bit more focused on DPS, and Gunbreaker is no different. Gunbreaker still has a lot more HP than most of the jobs you'll enter PvP with, so a strategy could be to use this to your advantage: get in close and deal plenty of damage with your powerful combos, and stay close with your team so that you can act as protection for the jobs with lower HP.
By dealing a lot of damage with your rotation and being aggressive, enemy players will focus their attention on you. Although it might be tempting to eject from this, your high HP and access to skills like Aurora and Nebula via Draw and Junction will make it easier for you to handle multiple players at once compared to other jobs. Lure them in, do your rotation, and if there's more than two players, you can use both of your AoE attack and Limit Break to do a lot of damage all at once, before following up on remaining players using Rough Divide and the regular rotation. Try and get as much damage done before you eject, and ensure you always have a Junction skill ready to go.
Of course, this doesn't mean you can go overboard with Gunbreaker, either. The key to playing Gunbreaker in most PvP modes is finding a balance between confident aggression and an awareness of your surroundings. As with other classes, you can use common actions to heal and guard if you find yourself in danger, but Gunb🌳reaker should also take regular advantage of their other protective abilities. Of course, Gunbreaker can also support other membꦬers of the team using Aurora: in terms of PvP heals, it's a fairly good one.
A major determining factor in PvP success with Gunbreaker, however, stems from correct usage of the passive junction buffs, which ultimately give you a statistical nudge in the direction of the role type that you've drawn from. If you're looking for a bit more power, for example, you'll want to junction fဣrom a DPS, whilst if you're looking for better healing or mitigation, you'll want to junction from a healer or tank, respectively. Maintaining junction might not seem like a big deal when you first begin playing Gunbreaker in PvP, but that small statistical difference can often go a long way in securing your victory.
