Prologue Quests

Story Quest

Objectives

A Flame Summoned

  • Watch the cutscene, controlling Phoenix to attack the Eikon of Fire.
  • You can hold the Triangle button instead of mashing it to constantly fire.

To Kill a Dominant

  • Follow the men through the hills, witnessing cutscenes as you go.

Pride

  • Complete your combat training with Murdoch.

Sunrise, Sunset

  • Make for the throne room, which is accessible through a side entrance.
  • Speak to Archduke Elwin.
  • Retire to your chambers, which are up the stairs to the right of the throne.
  • Travel to Stillwind.

Lost in a Fog

Flight of the Fledgling

  • As Joshua, follow Wade through the fortress, killing the enemies as you come across them.
  • When control switches to Clive, make your way through the rest of the fortress, killing the rest of the enemies.
  • Defeat the Knight of the Blinding Dawn in the courtyard. When low on health a cinematic scene will happen with a single Cinematic Strike in it.
  • Fight the Eikon of Fire as Phoenix. Make sure you are constantly firing with Triangle held down and that you're locked onto the enemy.

A Chance Encounter

Hide, Hideaway

  • Speak to Cid in his chambers, which are through the Ale Hall and up the stairs.
  • After the cutscene, return down to the main hall for another cutscene, this time with Goetz.
  • Take the Continental Rum you just received to the blacksmith, Blackthorne.

  • Talk to Goetz, and then the Curmudgeon nearby.
  • When prompted, head up to the Infirmary (which is outside Cid's chambers) and talk to Tarja there.
  • This will unlock Side Quests.
  • Speak to Charon, whose stall is outside the blacksmith. When prompted, retrieve the nearby stacks and complete the Arete Stone tutorial.
  • Leave the Hideaway and enter the Greatwood.

Fanning Embers

Louder than Words

  • From the entrance to the first open-world area in the game, Sanbreque, make your way forwards to the village of Lostwing, defeating the soldiers on the way.
  • Find the lost child sitting in the pile of boxes near the water.
  • Enter the church on the upper level of town.
  • Follow the linear path and fight Chirada at the end.

The Dead of Night

  • Walk forward to meet and speak to Quinten.
  • Speak to the two villagers, one up the stairs to the right of the market, and another on the other side of town.
  • Head to and speak to Cid.
  • Speak to Quinten.
  • Leave Lostwing to the southeast and make for Caer Norvent.
  • When prompted by the world map, enter Caer Norvent.

Headwind

Wings of Change

  • Head north towards the quest marker.
  • At the bridge, you'll have to defeat the small pack of soldiers and an Imperial War Aevis.
  • Reach the gate.
  • After the cutscenes, make your way to the next quest marker, which is within the Eye of the Tempest.
  • Beware the Wind Elementals, who make for tough opponents - they are also good sources of Experience and Ability Points, though!
  • After reaching the next Obelisk, you'll be taken to the world map. Enter The Eye of the Tempest.

Awakening

The Wages of Guilt

  • Speak to Cid in the middle of the Great Hall.
  • Tavel to The Kingsfall.

The Hunter and the Hunted

Homecoming

  • Follow the road towards the quest marker. Pick up the side quest on the way; it can be completed extremely easily on your way.
  • When you reach Martha's Rest, enter the tavern and talk to Martha behind the counter.
  • Complete Building Bridges.
  • Complete Bearer's Lot.
  • Leave the tavern.

Building Bridges

  • Find Bernard, who can be found in the area to the south of Martha's Rest, accessible via two handy ladders.
  • Defeat the Cray Claws to save Bernard and then speak to him.
  • Return to the tavern and speak to Martha.

Bearer's Lot

  • Head to Glaidemond Abbey, which is accessible via the lift to the west. Approach the abbey to begin a cutscene.
  • Return to the tavern and speak to Martha.

Holding On

  • Leave Martha's Rest from the repaired bridge to the north and follow the road to the quest marker.
  • Enter Eastpool.
    • After the cutscenes, you'll receive Invictus, the Metian Cross, and the Metian Bonds. Equip these now, they're better than any other equipment you can have at this point.
  • Head to the north gate.
  • Complete Back in the Day.
  • Follow the road out of Eastpool through The Dim to Phoenix Gate.

Back in the Day

  • Walk to the nearby well for a cutscene.
  • Speak to the two nearby villagers.
  • Speak to the Troubled Youth at Eastpool's entrance.
  • Head over the bridge and find a linear path on the other side of the farm field. Defeat the Mud Daubers and Worgen at the end of the path.
  • Enter Phoenix Gate Ruins from the world map.

Buried Memories

The Meaning of Life

  • Return to Eastpool through the Dim.
  • Defeat the soldiers in Eastpool, ending with the Imperial Captain.
  • Return to The Hideaway.

Righting Wrongs

  • Head up to Cid's chambers.
  • After all the cutscenes, head back down and talk to Charon.
  • Speak to Otto and unlock Alliant Reports.
  • Speak to Gav.
  • Enter Sanbreque, preferably via the Lostwing Obelisk.
  • Leave Lostwing via the north exit and head to Northreach.
  • Find the Dame, who is standing near the Obelisk, and then talk to her outside the gate to Northreach.
  • Once inside, head to the Veil, and then speak to Isabelle.
  • Complete The Dame.
  • Head to the abandoned chapel on the hill overlooking Moore.
  • Enter Drake's Head after the cutscenes.

The Dame

  • Speak to the Courtesan outside The Veil, and then Tatianne's Chambermate nearby.
  • Speak to the Garrison Soldier in the garrison.
  • Find Isabelle in Northreach and tell her you're going to Moore.
  • Leave Northreach via the north exit and get to Moore. Speak to Bertrand at the stable. Then speak to the Traveling Trader.
  • Head to the nearby ruins and defeat the pack of Bloated Wolves.
  • Inspect the bodies and then return to Moore to find Isabelle.

  • Defeat the Dhalmekian soldiers.
  • Defeat the Republican War Panther.
  • Travel to The Hideaway

Home, Sweet Home

  • Speak with Otto on the second level, via the elevator.
  • Meet and speak to Vivian, nearby.
  • Speak to Loresman Harpocrates.
  • Return to your chambers, talking to Tarja along the way.
  • Read Gav's Letter on the Reading Table.

The Gathering Storm

  • Speak to Otto.
  • Head to Martha's Rest and enter the tavern.
  • Complete Dark Clouds Gather.
  • Enter the small building next to the main Abbey.
  • Complete Release.
  • Return to The Hideaway and speak to Gav.
    • This unlocks Alliant Reports, the Hunt Board, and the Patron's Whisper.
  • Travel to Hawk's Cry Cliff.

Dark Clouds Gather

  • Make for Glaidemond Abbey to the west of Martha's Rest.
  • Speak to Martha on the bridge on the way.
  • Enter the Abbey and defeat the guards who attack you after the cutscene.

Release

  • Head to the waterside near Riddock's Jump to the southeast of the Abbey and perform the casting.
    • Beware the Ahriman hunt on the way.
  • Return to Martha's Rest and speak to Martha in the tavern.

Bloodlines

  • Head to the village of Amber, just to the north of the Hawk's Cry Cliff Obelisk.
  • Speak with the two marked villagers, and then the villager at the north edge of the village.
  • Make your way through the pass toward Auldhyl Docks.
  • Defeat the Black Shields that attack you near the Baum Arches bridge.
  • Enter the Auldhyl Docks nearby.
  • Make your way to Port Isolde, all the way to the south.

Black Light Burns

  • Enter the Lazarus District, the gated community to the east of the Silken Strand.
  • Defeat the bandits inside.
  • After the cutscene, speak to Wade.
  • Complete Black or White.
  • Return to the Hideaway.

Black or White

  • Head to Bewit Bridge to the north.
  • Defeat the Black Shields. They will be backed up by an Imperial War Wyvern after the first wave, and the Knight of the Lasting Dark (a dragoon) after the second.

Here Be Monsters

  • Speak to Vivian.
  • Enter Drake's Breath.

Fire and Ice

After the Storm

  • Visit the infirmary to see Jill.
  • Speak to Otto.
  • Speak to Vivian.
  • Enter Rosalith.

Capital Punishment

Bolts from the Blue

  • Speak to Otto.
  • Speak to Mid.
  • Complete Getting to Work.
  • Visit Jill at the infirmary.
  • Enter the Shelves.
  • Speak with Vivian.

Getting to Work

  • Speak with Charon and Blackthorne.
  • Speak to Bardolph on the lower level.

  • Head to Cressida, which is to the northeast of Martha's Rest, and talk to Bernard.
  • Slay all the monsters in Cressida, including a Wivre, which is a high-level Dragon Aevis.
  • Return to the Hideout and speak to Mid.

Riddle of the Sands

  • Cross the desert, heading to the large Fallen structure in the middle and then to Dalimil to the south.
  • When you approach the settlement, a cutscene will begin.
  • Defeat the enemies in the tavern.
  • Head to the south of Dalimil to find the road closed.
  • Speak to two villagers to the east.
  • Speak to the Riverboat Captain to the west.
  • Speak to Ferda back in town.
  • Head to the quest destination and defeat the Back-Alley Bruisers.
  • Return to the entrance to Dalimil to speak to the Unsavory Character and L'ubor.
  • Complete Follow the Crystals.
  • Head all the way to the south to the Jaw.
  • Enter Drake's Fang.

Follow the Crystals

  • Speak to the three townspeople around Dalimil.
  • Speak to the serving girl outside the tavern.
  • Find Byron up the stairs near the tavern entrance, then speak to him after the cutscene.
  • Meet up with the soldiers in the Southern Velkroy Desert. After the cutscene, defeat the soldiers.

Into the Darkness

Out of the Shadow

  • Speak to Otto.
  • Speak to Vivian
  • Speak to Charon, Blackthorne, and Harpocrates.
  • Speak to Otto.
  • Speak to Mid.
  • Speak to Blackthorne.
  • Complete Letting Off Steam I
  • Speak to Mid.
  • Speak to Helena nearby.

  • Report back to Mid at the Hideout.
  • Speak to Harpocrates.

Letting Off Steam I

  • Speak to Blackthorne.
  • Choose either Otto or Gav - it doesn't matter in the long run.
  • Head to the quest destination in the south of the Southern Velkroy Desert and talk to Gav.
  • Collect five Stardust nearby and deliver them to Gav.
  • Return to the Hideout and talk to Blackthorne.

Letting Off Steam II

  • Head to the quest destination in Laubert's Pass in Rosaria. Speak to Helena, Engineer.
  • Slay the Unwanted Visitor here.

Letting Off Steam III

  • Speak to Harpocrates.
  • Travel to Northreach and then speak to your companion here.
  • Purchase the ingredients you need from the merchants here and talk to your companion again.
  • Return to the Hideaway and talk to Harpocrates.

Onward

  • Make for Boklad, which is through the linear path ahead.
  • Deal with the enemies in the ruins and then press on toward Boklad.
  • After the cutscenes, head to the north, toward Boklad.
  • Find and speak to Goetz.
  • Head to the Crimson Caravans to start a cutscene in which you meet Eloise.
  • Complete To Catch a Thief.
  • Speak to Theodore.
  • Complete Blood from the Stones.
  • Speak to Goetz.
  • Enter the Crystalline Dominion.

To Catch a Thief

  • Speak to the Furniture Maker in Boklad.
  • Speak to the Fishmonger in Boklad.
  • Speak to the Brusque Boy nearby, then the nearby Anxious Girl.
  • Speak to Honza to the south of Boklad.
  • Speak to the Chocobo Tamer to the north.
  • Chase down Honza in the Chocobo stables.

Blood from the Stones

  • Search to the south of Boklad to find the bandit lair. Defeat the enemy encounters along the way.
  • Speak to Eloise in Boklad.

Things Fall Apart

  • Speak with Otto.
  • Speak to Vivian and Harpocrates.
  • Speak to Otto again.
  • Aid Martha's Rest, Northreach, and Dalimil with their individual dilemmas.
    • Complete The Flames of War in Martha's Rest.
    • Complete Why We Fight in Northreach.
    • Complete Down the Rabbit Hole in Dalimil.
  • Speak to Otto back at the Hideaway.
  • Travel to the Krozjit Echoes.

The Flames of War

  • Enter the tavern in Martha's Rest to begin the quest.
  • Head to the Fallen Gate and defeat the enemy horde there. There are two waves of generic monsters.
  • Head to Sorrowise via the lift to the west and defeat the enemies there. One is an Adamantoise.
  • Head to the north of Martha's Rest and defeat the enemies there. After waves of Goblins, Vultures, and Chocobos, you'll be attacked by an Akashic Plague (Ahriman-type enemy).

Why We Fight

  • Head to the Veil to begin the quest.
  • Approach the Dame at the garrison.
  • Speak to the two wounded nearby.
  • Head to Moore and defeat the horde of thralls. There are three waves, with a Lich in the third.

Down the Rabbit Hole

  • Speak to L'ubor to begin this quest.
  • Enter the tavern.
  • Speak to Viktor and then approach L'ubor again.
  • Recruit Konrad and Natalie by approaching them and speaking to Viktor and L'ubor near them.
  • Speak to Viktor, then defeat the bandits just outside Dalimil. There are three waves, with a Reaper in the final phase.

Cloak and Dagger

  • Take the road south from the Krozjit Echoes Obelisk.
  • Once in Tabor, enter the door marked by the quest marker.
  • After the cutscenes, head south from Tabor until you reach the cutscene.
  • Enter the Free Cities of Kanver.

Evenfall

A Song of Hope

  • Speak to Otto.
  • Complete Like Father, Like Daughter.
  • Travel to the Ironworks.

Like Father, Like Daughter

  • Head to Mid's dungeon and examine the objects there.
  • Speak to Otto.
  • Inspect the orchestrion to the right of the kitchen.

Full Steam

Through the Maelstrom

Across the Narrow

  • Visit the infirmary.
  • Speak to Vivian.
  • Visit Harpocrates.
  • Leave the shelves and speak to Otto.
  • Travel to the Shadow Coast.

Footfalls in Ash

  • Make your way toward Stonhyrr through the linear path forward, defeating the enemies as you go.
  • When you reach Eistla, open the gate and then defeat the enemies after the cutscene. The final waves include an Akashic War Aevis and an Akashic Sveithvaldr.
  • After the scenes, head up the stairs nearby to activate the Eistla Obelisk and then enter the nearby building.
  • Head to Reverie, at the far end of the path to the east of Eistla.
  • Travel to Reverie.

The Last King

Brotherhood

  • Make for Stonhyrr once again, using the path to the north of Eistla.
  • On the way, you can pick up the only Side Quest in Waloed by talking to the Wounded Royalist on the road.
  • Slay the waves of Akashic outside the massive gate.
  • Pass through the gate and complete Laid to Rest on the way by heading to the Wounded Royalist's parents' graves.
  • Head to Drake's Spine to the north.
  • Enter Drake's Spine.

Streets of Madness

Back to Their Origin

  • Speak to Otto.
  • Speak to Joshua.
  • Speak to Jill. She's on the balcony next to Clive's Chambers.
    • At this point, a ton of Side Quests will open up - these are the final Side Quests in the game and have some fantastic rewards!
  • Travel to Origin.

Origin is the final dungeon of the game. Be sure you're ready before heading in!
