While none of these trials are easy, Shiva's toolkit does allow for some fairly consistent ways to bank time. Being able to land the Cold Snap counter will help you immensely in this regard. Once you get a feel for how to handle each monster, and you get their timing down, beating Shiva's Trial will be very achievable.
General Trial Tips
Of course, each trial will provide you with the ability to earn time bonuses. Some of these can be pretty tricky to nail. However, Shiva’s Trial has some of the easiest-to-earn bonuses of the bunch. She will get an 8-second bonus simply for landing her Cold Snap counter, which will inflict Permafrost on the enemies. This is something you will be able to do frequently throughout each encounter. On top of 🍃that, if you kill an enemy while frozen, you will gain an additional 8-second boost.
Lastly, the bonuses associated with her Eikonic attacks are quite simply easy-to-land. Collateral Rime (which is a bonus in the first stage) just needs to hit three enemies, which isn’t hard given how long it stays out, “Collateral Mesmerize” only needs to hit two enemies, and that is effortless if you perfo🎉rm it on enemy groups clustered together.
Even if you fail to hit three enemies witꦓh your Rime attack, you can push the enemies you missed into it and you will still get that time bonus.
The “Perfect Ice” bonus is extremely easy-to-land, especially if you do it on permafrosted enemies. This bonus is available for stage 2 and stage 3. The fact that♊♔ the Ice Age ability recharges so quickly means that you will be able to land this attack often.
“Collateral Diamond” requires you to land Diamond Dust on two enemies… which means that if you use it, and there are two enemies on the screen, you are guaranteed this 15-second time bonus. That is massive.
So, ensuring victory here will depend on your ability to land the Cold Snap counter and knowing how the Ice Age ability works. Just go out into the fie☂ld if you are unfamiliar with Shiva’s moveset and try to land this stuff on the standard encounters. If you can do those two things, you can absolutely give yourself a very healthy time 💦limit when going into the final boss battle.
For the sake of clarity, you land the Cold Snap counter by pressing the circle button just before an enemy’s attack lands. And to land the Perfect Ice with the Ice ⛄Age attack you simply need to hold the attack button down and then release it once the cursor hits the red bit of the meter.
Keep in mind that you will have no access to your potions or healing items. So, your only source of healing will be your limit break. That being said, since you can bank so much more time, you can kilꦑl time to land additional limit breaks and heal.
Location Of Shiva Chronolith
Travel west of Eistla. Keep heading west until you pass Rikmal’s Roost. Now, in the area just west of Rikmal’s Roost, head south. There you will find an area where there are two giant boulders. Between these boulders is a concealed path. Follow it, and you will arrive at a crevice. Squeeze through and you will see The Hand of Rhea obelisk. Interact with it t🦩o begin the trial.
Beside the Hand of Rhea is a chest containing the Masamune. If you arrive at this obelisk during thജe main story, this will likely be the best sword in the game available to you. So, equip it before beginning the trial.
Shiva's Trial Guide
As is the case with all of these trials, you'll need to complete three stages. Each of these ends with one tougher monster. However, they have done you a kindness here, and each of these end creatures has a whole host of easy-to-counter attacks, which is perfect for your Cold Snap Counter.
Stage 1

This stage will start with a bunch of Wraiths and Wolves spawning. Hit them with a Rime, then, once you have a bunch locked into that attack, run up and hit them with your Mesmerize attack. Now, start landing your combo and landing your punish attack on the downed🐟 enemies.
The Icebound Bugs and Icebound Hornets come clustered together, so start by firing a Rime at them, then charge in and follow up with a Mesmerize. You can now finish them off with some ♛Punish attacks and Magic Burst combos to help achieve those bonu🀅ses.
Lastly, the Icebound Jelly is a great enemy to farm those Cold Snap counters with. Once they twist themselves up, and then stop, they will hold for a beat before unleashing a spinning attack, this will give yo𒁏u plenty of forewarning to prepare your counter as you wait for the spin.
The Jelly also has a lunging attack as well. It will post both of its arms in front of itself and then slingshot its body forward. Once again, pretty easy to time. Just get some distance and observe the timing from afar and you will be able to start countering this attack consistently
Stage 2

In the second stage, you will be facing off against four muggers and an Adamantoise. Start by landing a Mesmerize on the Muggers, and finish them off with a Perfect Ice Age. Keep at least one alive if possible so that you can land additional Mesermizes for more time bonuses while fighting ಌ൲the Adamantoise.
Speaking of the Adamantoise, it has very, very predictable attacks. When it corks its head to the side, it is going to swing it at you, and when it stands up on its back legs, it is preparing to slam down on top of you. With both of these attacks, it will pause just before it strikes. Use these attacks to farm a ton of Cold Snap counters. Also, make sure you land a Perfect Ic𒉰e Age whenever the attack becomes available.
After beating the Adamantoise, you’ll be facing off against Bombs and Bluebirds. The bluebirds make for easy Cold Snap counters, as they will hop back before lunging forward with a kick. Once you freeze the group with a Cold Snap, stand next to the most clustered batch 💫and land a Mesmerize. Then, f🐲ollow up with a Perfect Ice Age. That will pretty much finish them off.
The final group in this stage will have four Thorns and a Fanatic. Once again, the game has gifted you with enemies that have easy-to-Cold Snap attacks. Clear out the Thorns first with Mesmerizes and Ice Ages, then just farm with super predictable Fanatic for Cold Snap counters, and land Perfect Ice Ages while you are at it. You will be able to bank a ton of time here.

The third stage will begin with a Wivre and two Mesmerizers. You will want to lead with a Diamond Dust. It will give you a big bonus and build your limit bar. You will want to take out the Mesmerizers first. Once you do, just farm the Wivre for Cold Snaps. You will have fought dozens of these by th♊e time you are able to do these trials, so you should be pretty used to the timing of its claw swipes. Just remember that it will swipe with the right, then the left. Naturally, you wi❀ll want to land Perfect Ice Ages when it is frozen.
Next, you will face off against a large group of Icebound Scorpions and Icebound Commanders. All of them have predictable attacks. You should have another Diamond Dust ready at this point. Land it. Then, thin out the crowd with another Perfect Ice Age. This group will be your last chance to land Punish attacks. If you hit one with your full melee com♏bo, you will knock them down. Then, attack them when they are downed for the punish attack. You can also farm them for Cold Snaps if you want.
Finally, the last encounter before the boss will be a Lich and a Bighorn. Focus on the Lich. Don’t get cute, go right for the kill, as this monster is more than capable of dishing out damage and jeopardizing your run. Start by landing a Diamond Dust attack. This will get the Lich close tꦺo being stunned almost immediately. A Pe🎃rfect Ice Age followed by a few combos will finish the job.
When fighting the Lich, the objective is to kill it before it has a chance to do much damage. However, if you can’t do that, just look out for its rangy scythe slash combos and powerful projectile attacks. It will be teleporting away frequently, so chase it down. If you try to close the distance once the Lich teleports away you will more than likely inadvertently dodge the projectiles as well.
Once the Lich is gone, it will just be the easy to predict Bighorn. You can farm it like you have farmed so many of the creatures you have fought in this trial, but if you are well over𒅌 six minutes already,🅷 you may as well just go for the kill.
Final Boss - Icebound Necrophobe

The Icebound Necrophage is a tough boss that has access to a staggering number of magic attacks. Thankfully, you should be coming into this battle with quite a bit of time on the clock. Start the round by landing a Diamond Dust. This will help build your limit break, lower its stagger bar, and deal good damage.
There is a very good chance that you will enter this battle with a TON of time due to the more generous time bonuses. This means that you⭕ can play this fight pretty cautiously. Don’t feel the need to rush in if you are beginning this fight with more than five minutes. That is plenty of time to kill the Necrophobe
Enblizzaga is an AOE attack, so dash out of the area of effect. Enthundaga will see a number of lightning bolts strike all around; just avoid the glowing spots. This will end with an electrified Iceb💜ound Necrophobe dashing at you. Avoid them and they will become momentarily stunned.
When they Dualcast Blizzaga they will fire two ice beams at you. When the Necrophage uses the Dualcast Fireaga, the attack will send two waves of giant fireballs your way. Precision dodge these attacks.
Keep whittling this foe away. Naturally, whenever you get a Diamond Dust, you will want to use it. If you start getting hurt badly enough, and you still have time on the clock, back away and then let that Diamond Dust recharge. Hopefully, landing it will give you enough meter for another limit break. Naturally, once you get down⛎ to two minutes or so, you will have to start playing far more aggressively.
